For Individual Health Care under 65 - Governor Scott elected the Federal Exchange so there will be a Federal Marketplace Exchange for Floridians. You will also be able to buy off the Exchange through Independent Agents. Premiums for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Metal Plans for Florida have not yet been announced. I am an Independent Agent and anxiously waiting for all the information pertaining to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). I am not certain about portability as I write this. I believe you will still have to reapply as you move from state to state, as each individual state made their options to either participate in the Federal Exchange or set up State Exchanges or those state that even took Federal assistance. Anyone with Individual Health Plans will need to check with their carriers to see if the existing plan (benefits and premiums) will be protected to December 30, 2014 and not be subject to the ACA changes and higher premiums and health care taxes associated with the ACA. Some carriers may not lock in your benefits and premiums until December 30, 2014 and may referred you to the state's preference Marketplace Exchange.
