We had put impatiens in our front walkway, but they did not do well. But maybe it was just the wrong spot--too much or too little sun.

Yes, geraniums do well this time of year, but are subject to frost. Don't know if your lanai is closed in or not? Geraniums don't like lots of heat, and do not do good in summer. (Shaded areas are good though) Of course , Mums are good now, but everyone has Mums!! Petunias are great now, before frost. Colder weather, pansies and snap dragons are good. I'm sure if you attend "Twice on Tuesdays" they would have great suggestions, along with Florida friendly plants. Impatiens like shade.
