Default Preferred Care Partners, rules for selecting a new plan

Since PCP plans were terminated, you actually get two chances to find a new plan. During open enrollment, now until Dec 7th, you can sign up for any new plan. After Dec 7th, until the end of February, you can also change plans with no penalty. It has something to do with special election rules that apply to people that have had their plans terminated.

With so many plans in a state of flux as to which doctors are in or out, this could be very useful.

So, sign up for something by Dec 7th, even if you aren't sure of which plan you are going to end up with. That will give you coverage beginning on January 1st. You will be able to change plans if you find something better through the end of February.
