There are a few, but they are mostly Karaoke.

McCall's does have a Blues open mic on Tuesdays and the Opry does it every Thursday as well. Most places down here don't want to pay musicians so they cut corners with a lot of canned music. The squares have some live music, but often their "live music" consists of a DJ or a singer with canned tracks. The music scene down here is pretty awful unless you're into Karaoke.

There are some good clubs where you can show up and play. I am the founder of the Beatlemaniacs of the Villages. We play live Beatles music at the O'Dell Rec Center every Friday morning and everyone is welcome to join us. If you have a song that you'd like to do on your own, you'd be more than welcome or, if you'd like us to back you up you can have that as well.

The meetings start at 10:00 with a discussion about Beatles history. We usually show a video for about a half hour and then play music for an hour or so. If you're going to bring an amp, please get there early to set up. sometimes we do a very quick sound check before the meeting starts.

There is also an advanced acoustic guitar club that meets on Tuesday mornings, 9:00 at Churchill. Thursday mornings at Paradise a basic acoustic club meets at 10:00. They do have a few electrics plugged in for solos.

Check out the rec newspaper for many other clubs.
