I saw DBC when it was playing at SS about two months ago. After viewing I said that Matthew McConaughey deserved a Oscar for his performance. He use to only play in romantic comedies and I never paid much attention to him until I saw 'Lincoln Lawyer', which was a good drama. After seeing Dallas Buyers Club and currently he's on HBO in a new series called True Detective, I've noticed he has turned around his career to be a serious actor. The movie DBC is also a true story, which made an even bigger impact combined with the great acting, also by Jared Leto who I believe is nominated for best supporting. It may not be the cup of tea for conservative viewers. The story is about a very red neck individual (McConaughey) who in 1985 gets the disease HIV and at the time the consequences or stigma that goes with it.
