It seems to me that if I find a particular poster offensive I am perfectly capable of ignoring them without blocking their post from my view. It seems like a feature designed to help one do what they are unable to do themself, which would be to simply pass over another's post without reading it. I used to participate in the politics board on occasion and despite disagreeing with certain posters on virtually everything, I would never dream of ignoring them, as I still learned from the give and take, and even found some of the most offensive posters (to me) to have interesting and informative takes once in a while. I recently got into a debate with another poster on this site, but in general, like what that poster has to say about most subjects and wouldn't think of ignoring all their posts because we strongly disagree about one particular issue. Maybe someone can enlighten me about the value of the ignore feature that I have overlooked.
Your not missing anything as I have learned to ignore posters who seem to have an ax to grind. I "don't let anybody rent space in my head".

As long as one, "agrees to disagree" respectfully, everything is cool.
