On IMDB (Internet Movie Database) website it seems the original movie has a lot of fans, but after watching it last week I have to say I thought it was terrible. That only made me want to see the new version even more. Maybe it was Danny Kaye, but in the original film he does an impersonation scene in a bar that goes on for several minutes and is horrible to watch. It reminded me of a poor version of a Red Skelton routine. The new film is really good and I'm not a big Ben Stiller fan. I would highly recommend seeing the new Walter Mitty.

For me IMDB is pretty hit or miss. A lot of the movies they love I don't enjoy at all. I really enjoyed your other post in this thread. I found your reviews refreshing and unpretentious. It's nice to read (even amateur) movie reviews that aren't about the author's own self importance. Along with IMDB I like Rotten Tomatoes. I like that they have what critics think and what the public thinks separately and as you may have guessed they often don't agree
