Don't Forget The Funk!
Every artist listed so far is a wonderful part of our American music heritage and I love 'em all!
I am fortunate to have made my career in the music business and have played tunes by most of the above....and below. The first tune I ever played live with a band was Louie, Louie.
As a kid in Hawaii I played mostly "Surf" music then British and then moved to the east coast and played "Beach" music, then Southern Rock and then lots of R&B.
Some of my R&B and Funk favorites are:
Wilson Pickett
Major Lance
Aretha Franklin
Otis Redding
Al Green
The
Ray Charles
The Righteous Bros.
Marvin Gaye
Stevie Wonder
The Ohio Players
Gladys Knight
The Commodores
Earth, Wind & Fire
James Brown
Sly Stone
The Isley Bros.
Smokey Robinson
The Bar-Kays
Tyrone Davis
Gene Chandler
Sam & Dave
The Spinners
Rufus
Tower Of Power
The Neville Bros.
Jeffrey Osborne & LTD
Anyone think a good R&B band would be a hit in The Villages?
