Among the many reasons that can raise PSA levels is: Ejaculation, which can increase PSA levels for 48 to 72 hours. Also, extended exercise which can elevate PSA levels for 48 hours.
4 mg/ml is considered normal. So, with 1.7, I think my doctor was right when he suggested there's nothing to worry about. Come to think of it, it's likely that I engaged in one of the above activities which raised my number temporarily.
