I really look forward to watching this tournament every year and yes, this is a huge disappointment for all of the reasons mentioned. It's not usually good to see a player running away with any tournament unless they are making history. It's also disappointing that the course is playing so easy. The greens being so soft are of course a big reason and there's not much they can do about that. But the biggest thing is that there is virtually no rough. The "stuff' as they call is is not very effective in stopping these guys from scoring. It seems that there's about a 95% chance of getting a good lie when they hit it in there. This is demonstrated by an interview I heard the other day. I think it was Matt Kuchar, but it could have been someone else. They asked why this player who has never had any kind of success in past US Opens was suddenly doing well at Pinehurst. the player got a big smile on his face and said, "No rough" with a look that showed that he was surprised that the interviewer didn't understand that.
