Marketing slogans notwithstanding, the statistic that isn't in question is that TV was the "nation's fastest-growing
metro area between 2012 and 2013" according to the Census Bureau. More people = more of everything.
How is it ridicule to discuss this woman's case (and the male participant's, although he has been largely ignored)? It happened. It's news. You can't wish it away. Everyone who tries to shush people and tell them not to talk about it is only adding to the noise. As is getting your hackles up and complaining because the international media has picked up on the story.
I'd personally be interested to see how the trial plays out, because I can't imagine what the defense would be. I don't see how being tipsy is an excuse for breaking the law, although I suppose it could be a mitigating factor in sentencing.
