Sinkhole in Spring Hill driveway a sight for neighbors

a friend of my husband's, who used to live in our town, but relocated to the daytona beach area several years ago, sent him this new series of photos......after sending us the first pic on sunday.

He has a first cousin/family in spring hill, a retired flight attendant. Her father & my husband's mom were siblings. I also have a first cousin in spring hill. The homes are lovely there; unfortunately, they have their sink hole issues..........it's a huge developement convenient to the tampa bay/saint pete area/airport........plus not far from brooksville to the north where we have other relatives of my husband. Also a sinkhole area.

witnesses say they saw the ground drop and then a cloud of dust and dirt.
"out of nowhere the earth just went straight up in the air," said neighbor margaret helmick. "it exploded up in the air."

when deputies arrived, they measured the hole to be approximately 25x25 yards and 30 feet deep.

"more and more of it sinked into the ground as the police showed up here," said neighbor sam haneiwich. "a big hole just opened up."

the hole grew to approximately 40x40 yards, still at 30 feet deep. Officials said the hole had stopped growing as of 9 p.m. On saturday.
