As long as you like black bears.

They do show up in people's backyards on occasion, especially if you live at the edge of town......along with deer, moose, fox, & a variety of other critters.........our daughter lives on ten acres of forested land in northern Vermont; a bear ate their groundhog who had been killing their chickens. Yes, it happens.

It's still not the same as the ground collapsing......not talking "pot holes" after the winter weather.

Vermont is a beautiful, natural state........but, speaking of bears, our neighbor to the west, New York State.....often has bears up in trees in neighborhoods.........they are out there......all over the northeast. Even in NEW JERSEY. Our nephew sees them all the time in Bergen County...........part of life.

Unless you are in Yosemite or out west somewhere, I doubt if the Vermont bears are attacking people.

We have a big family of deer that cross through our back property all the time.......as this used to be apple orchards. It seems to be an inbred "memory" generation through generation........to return to where the apples were. They are beautiful to watch after a fresh snowfall.
