Watch out for all the trees falling on your house and being snowbound without electricity. Being a snowbird does not stop you from worrying about storms and frozen pipes while you are away.[/QUOTE]
I know. Our older tall trees were all taken down years ago , leaving only the ones at the far back of the property & the evergreens on the side property lines........they were beautiful, however, now we have no fears of trees falling.........also they keep our power lines well cleared of trees..........we, ourselves, are o.k.
We are pretty safe where we are........having alternate sources of heat, etc, etc., etc.......usually, it's the people on the coast that lose their power for long periods of time. We have a CVPS fellow who lives in our neighborhood, so in the rare event of power lines down, he comes to the rescue........it's actually Green Mountain Power now. As far as leaving our pipes to freeze, we put on a gizmo onto the furnace which calls any one of our neighbors who come over to check it out..........also our plumber. We can also drain the water out........as far as food & water, we are as well prepared as any "prepper" out there....
