The Comcast Center in Norton, MA about 25 miles south of Boston seats 10,000. I've seen Eric Clapton, BB King, Jeff Beck, Elton John, James Taylor, R.E.M and a host of others there.

I don't know why a venue like that wouldn't be successful here.
