I think some posters feel the perceived threat should countered with a like threat i.e. get armed. In this particular instance the group claiming to be threatened is using the internet in retaliation.
If I understand it correctly, the hacking group Anonymous has not been threatened. They are taking issue with the KKK threatening the protesters. The protesters are not affiliated with Anonymous. Actually, Anonymous is a non-entity with no leadership. No one can threaten an entity that is invisible.

In reality there is no reason for Anonymous to be involved in this issue, but that is what they do; insert themselves into potentially volatile issues without invitation.
