Most who carry have weighed the consequences, have taken myriad gun safety courses, spend their fair share of time at a shooting range. I think few with concealed carry permit without a lot of thought behind it. We don't carry because it makes us bigger and stronger nor to win an argument. We carry because we feel there is a real need. It doesn't mean we're afraid all the time. It doesn't mean we will pull our weapon out at the slightest provocation. It does mean that should the need arise, we are able to protect ourselves and those we care about.
Personally, I can never imagine pulling my Glock to protect my property. You want my stuff, be my guest but you give me even the slightest inkling that you mean to harm me or mine, be prepared to get shot and I was not taught to aim to wound. And, yes, I am willing to suffer the consequences should that happen.
