Stun guns a good idea or not?

Daily Sun article: "Homeless woman's stun Gun Spurs 2nd Amendment Case"
Subheading: "Massachusetts court asked to decide if right to bear arms extends to weapon"

She never had to use it but it was found in her purse during a shoplifting investigation. Her lawyer says she has the right to keep and bear arms.

MA is one of only five states that ban stun guns and tasers for private citizens.

Are they allowed in Florida?

If so, what are the pros and cons of having one?

Topspinmo 12-01-2014 07:47 PM

I sure the her lawyer will get it throw out due to no warrant to search for illegal weapon in private purse or bag. That's non-lethal weapon, what's next pepper spray, frying pans, shoes, tree limbs, rocks, hammers, garden tools, ball bats, ice picks, kitchen knifes, ect. all which can kill and I'm sure used in Massachusetts deaths over the centuries.

Heck if not, now she going to get free roof over her head and three meals day, lodging may not be much to take about, but she will have routine every day.

Now wonder there lots of people moving from the Taxed anti-gun crazed states. But they have no problems allowing guns in the pass to be made in their states which the northeast for centuries made all the guns and the cheap Saturday night specials which IMO probably majority of gun crimes . Now they want to bit the hand that feed them the tax money all those years. how about banning gun making period in those states if they are really serious about gun bans otherwise it's oxymoron.

You want to carry a concealed stun gun in The Villages? Even if it is legal to do so, why? Are you that scared when going out to a town square?

Just curious - where do you see any statement about carrying in The Villages?
Did I miss this? I realize you are anti-gun and i respect your right to that opinion but I think you may be stretching this a bit.

The OP asked if others felt if stun guns were a good idea or not and also if they were legal in Florida. The conclusion, to me, is that the OP was asking regarding carrying such a weapon in The Villages.

It makes no difference really if he was talking about carrying in The Villages or elsewhere. Same basic question applies - are you really that afraid to go outside your house without a weapon?

You can't argue with anti gun people. Even though you have a God given right to defend yourself they will always say "why do you feel you need a weapon or are you afraid" or some such nonsense. No one is afraid until something happens to them. If you want to carry a Taser and it is legal and it makes you feel safe then do it no matter what anyone says about it.

Thanks, I see that a license is needed to carry a concealed weapon and that includes an "electronic weapon or device."

Once again, I do have to ask those the most obvious question as asked above, "Are you that afraid to go outside your home without a weapon?"

Of course, if it is legal, there is nothing stopping you from doing so. However, do think about the unintended consequence if you did use the weapon. Massive legal expenses even if you were in the right. And if you were judged to be in the wrong ... you would not even want to think about that.

I had never met a person who owned a gun, other than for hunting, (and my grandfather, a police officer) in my life until I moved here. I was astonished, as I feel this is just as safe as the Ohio suburb I left.( In 20 years, 100k people, two murders. ) But I have since learned that all of the gun owners are ordinary people, not any different than the non gun owners I lived near before. Many had military careers, or moved from very different areas than the place I lived all of my life. They were big on gun safety and didn't talk about it or show off about it at all. I opened my mind and really felt safer knowing that most of my neighbors were armed, when we had that rash of burglaries a few months back. We have a very safe environment here, I like it a lot and I like the gun owners and the non gun owners.

I know this, that as we age we can't kick, bite, punch, run, smack or scream like we used to. But we have a right to protect ourselves in any way we can.

And they consistently present thier argument based on their interpretation/"conclusion" of what was said.

Usually resulting in a two bag popcorn session:024:

Where I lived only the hunters and police officers I know had guns too. And like you my position is shifting too. If "would be" buglers are not sure which houses or cars are carrying a weapon then maybe that protects me too. But there is a part of me that says "If I don't have a gun then I can't shoot anyone by mistake." So I guess I'm still mulling this over.
