Consideration is important of others, that is the key of almost every thread on TOTV, as I often say. It is nice to have self reflection, and on long drives, sometimes it is nice to have music or news. Self reflection and thinking too much every day can get a little obsessive. The key point I agree is try and keep it to yourself. No one owns the road, so there should be the ability for all to exist civily and enjoy your individual journey, as you like it. No one gets to choose who can listen to music and who cannot, but those listening can be kind enough to not impose it on everyone else. And those who pass us by will hopefully not be too disrupted, being that I do not see too many golf carts riding for any period of time in tandem. It's all about respect, be it landscaping, lanai tv's, music, hogging chairs in the squares, speeding golf carts, street parking in front of neighbors, the list goes on every day on TOTV. But getting to dictate what others do because of your own preference, outside of covenants, well, even in The Villages, it is still a democracy! Breathe everyone.

Where in the Villages besides Best Buy can U get a radio installed?
I live in St. James & would like to find some place closer.
Are there any private individuals who do this as a p.t. side job?

Well beside boom boxes on four wheels patrolling the golf carts, breathing is the other issue and gas carts and tunnels just don't go well together:D

Is this true? No AM640 on electric carts? But "yes" to gas carts?

Gene....this does seems to be true, at least in my electric cart. I can listen to AM640, as long as I am stationary. Once I flip the switch and start driving, the AM turns to all static. FM radio is no problem.

I'm no expert, in this area, but I believe there is a filter that could be installed on the radio that would prevent this electrical interference.

Cheers....

We have an EZGO electric with an AM\FM portable that is mounted under the roof. It uses rechargeable batteries and is not connected to the cart's electrical system. We have no problem with 640AM reception. I wonder if connecting a radio directly to the cart's electrical system would cause the electrical interference you mention.

The Villages Golf Cart store should be able to sell it and install it for you.

Advance Golf Car, near CR-101 will do just about anything you want on a golf car, including an in-dash radio.

If you're looking for something inexpensive that you can do yourself, Amazon sells the Sangean PR-D7 AM/FM digital rechargeable portable radio, in either black or white for $55, plus the cost of rechargeable batteries approx $15.

We attached the radio to the roof of our golf cart with velcro and a nylon cable tie for insurance. Once every two weeks or so we recharge the radio in place overnight when recharging the golf cart. There are more expensive radio solutions but this is all you need if you want a radio quickly and cheaply without creating a theft magnet with something more elaborate.

We use Todd Casey for all our golf cart repairs/add ons/etc. He is able to do most jobs on site and is dependable and reliable plus he's priced right. Here is his blogspot with all his information:

:BigApplause: As I tell one of golfing buddies who just made an excellent putt: Well Done, Jane!

I have a AM/FM/XM/CD with an input for an I-phone/ Ipad or Ipod. Cherie and I plug in her Ipad and stream music from her Pandora stations. Love it. We have gone to the park on the Lake Sumter bridge to watch the sunsets and listen to soothing music. A little wine and you have set a romantic mood. :icon_wink:

I live directly across from the Lake Sumter Sunset Park (well we will be there soon but our home is there); we will be in the golf cart next to you with our own bottle of wine, we will be happy to listen to your music so we do not clash! Or we may be in our yard watching the sunset doing the same thing....maybe from our hot tub which has built in radio and IPOD in it.
