Wonder what doing with old springs? I could use couple extra? :highfive: For those that still driving be aware ready to cut ignition off then brake. Other wise the engine will pull pulling cart full throttle making it very hard to brake.

Excellent advice, thank you.

I have a list of dates and times and where to bring golf cart for the repair. Does anyone know if they have scheduled any more dates beyond the last one on the list which is April 4? Thanks!

This makes it very clear.

I went through all my emails from January this year including trash and junk, and neither The Villages Golf Cars, who put my 22 QT cart together or Yamaha, had sent me a recall notice. I do need a replacement but the ONLY way I found out was at the TOTV forum.

Thanks for that. At least I now know that it isn't the same fix as with the 2018 accelerator spring recall which I also didn't know about until I saw the recall here and started searching.

I just checked a schematic of my other cart (a 2014) and it uses the same spring as is being recalled but that year is not in the recall list. Now I'll have to check that spring and perhaps replace it myself.

I checked our 2014 spring and it looks just fine. I wouldn’t worry about it, that cart has almost 20K miles on it.

Who knows, it may be a ten-year thing. 2016 is within the ten- year window, 2014 is not.

If your cart is over ten years old and you haven’t had a problem yet then maybe you never will.

Possible acquisition of parts came from another source at that time? Maybe all springs are not created equally. It is also possible that Yamaha’s liability drops off on their vehicles after 10 years in service?

The new spring looks much different than the manufacturer’s original spring. It is also encased in a steel frame and actually bolted to the frame.

The steel frame is a jig that is removed after installation.

I wouldnt rush out to get it done....Its really really rare that the spring breaks, but when it does, the accelerator pedal just stays on the floor. Understand, they have used the same accelerator return spring set up since 1979. Im sure at some point the spring broke on someone, they didnt think to just bring the accelerator pedal up with their foot.

Just checked The Villages Golf Car site and they still have the recall information letter showing last Friday as the last recall fix date. Does anyone have an update? Will they continue this?

Village discount golf on 441

Last Thursday and Friday villages discount golf carts advertised recall spring service with brats hamburgers and hot dogs. Line was small and start to finish maybe 45 minutes. Located before you get to Aldi
