I was looking for some feedback about drying clothes that don't go in the dryer. Since we've arrived 3 months ago we put our wet clothes on hangars in the closet. Now that its getting warmer and more humid I thought that may not be the best place. I have no idea where to put them for quick drying.
Any ideas?

I have a clothes line in the garage, near the washer/dryer. I just put two C hooks into the wall (like the ones for hanging plants) I have a premeasured cord that has loops at both ends. This way I throw up the clothes lines while my other clothes are in the dryer. When the clothes on the line dry, I just roll up the cord and put it away so that you never even see it.

We hang on hangers from the wire maid shelves in the garage. Dry overnight no problems.

They go into the garage and hang from the shelving. Usually dry within an hour or two. Of course, in the colder weather, it may take over night to dry.

I put my shirts, shorts in the dryer for 3 minutes tops. This gets out all of the wrinkles. Then I hang them in our closet in the laundry room or sometimes on the lanai. I've never had a problem with them smelling musty from hanging in the laundry room. I do keep my air conditioning vent open in the laundry room and the door open.

Why not just use the dryer to dry clothes? Thar's what it's for. Why make laundry harder than it has to be? I'm sorry but I don't understand the need for hanging wet stuff to dry when we have machines that do the job for us.

We installed a retractable clothesline (from Lowes - sure HD has them also) in our garage. Works great and is out of the way when not in use.

Not everything can go in the dryer because if they are dried all the way they shrink. I do put towels, sheets, underwear in the dryer, but in order to keep my nice tops and shorts the same size and looking nice I put them in the dryer only long enough to remove the wrinkles.

I have a wooden folding drying rack that I use just for delicate, hand washed clothes and put it on the lanai in the sun. Dries in a matter of a few hours.

Oh brother do I miss my clothes line and the smell of fresh hung out to dry sheets! When I actually had a line that was not restricted I hung everything out - barely used the dryer. Clothes last longer, look better, and less wrinkled.

Same here. A dryer is hard on good clothes. Nice cotton clothes start look shabby when dried over and over. Hanging clothes is hardly inconvenient and save electricity, too.

Do NOT put even damp clothes in a closet, let alone wet ones -- ever!
Eventually, you will get mold growing on all your clothes, shoes, etc.
My advice would be to always keep a light on in your closet.
Keep the closet door closed and the heat from the light bulb
will help to keep your closet dry.

I have a wall mounted drying rack in the laundry room. You just lift it up when you want it when done push it down when you're done. I also have plastic holders that hang over the top of the doors in the laundry room. Sweaters, I have a table top mesh square and put it on my lanai table and lay the sweater on it.

One of my neighbors washes quilts and bedspreads in her washer while her husband washes the car. Then he pulls car nice and clean into garage and she spreads spreads/quilts on car to dry. Out of sun so no fading and no wrinkles from stuffing into dryer. Works great!

I thought I read somewhere in my deed restrictions that clotheslines were not permitted. I have always loved my clothesline but was resigned to giving it up, along with having a pack of dogs that I will miss, when I move to TV. It is what it is. Am I wrong about the clothesline?

Florida State Law: "Title XI
COUNTY ORGANIZATION AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS Chapter 163
INTERGOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS

(1) Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter or other provision of general or special law, the adoption of an ordinance by a governing body, as those terms are defined in this chapter, which prohibits or has the effect of prohibiting the installation of solar collectors, clotheslines, or other energy devices based on renewable resources is expressly prohibited.
(2) A deed restriction, covenant, declaration, or similar binding agreement may not prohibit or have the effect of prohibiting solar collectors, clotheslines, or other energy devices based on renewable resources from being installed on buildings erected on the lots or parcels covered by the deed restriction, covenant, declaration, or binding agreement. A property owner may not be denied permission to install solar collectors or other energy devices by any entity granted the power or right in any deed restriction, covenant, declaration, or similar binding agreement to approve, forbid, control, or direct alteration of property with respect to residential dwellings and within the boundaries of a condominium unit. Such entity may determine the specific location where solar collectors may be installed on the roof within an orientation to the south or within 45° east or west of due south if such determination does not impair the effective operation of the solar collectors.
(3) In any litigation arising under the provisions of this section, the prevailing party shall be entitled to costs and reasonable attorney's fees.

Wow! If they are going to (or have to) allow that then they should allow 6' privacy fences so we don't have to look at it! TV was very sneaky in their "to the extent allowed by law" language. They clearly want you to think it's prohibited and to be ignorant of the superceding rights granted in law.

yeah, who needs to hang up clothes on a line. have not used a clothes line since we got an electric dryer in about 1951. and threw out the steam iron and ironing board when permanent press came on the scene in about 1969.
and who washes dishes by hand? isn't this the 21st century?

I am sure that when you move here that it will be clearer that the developers aren't sneaky. They do so many wonderful things without being asked. When I first considered moving to The villages, I came to this forum very skeptical and wondered "what is the catch???". After I was here for a short while and saw how they take care of things, paint their buildings every year and power wash things and go the extra mile, I became a huge cheerleader for the developer.
I think there is some chink in the law that allows the greenies to hang clothes outside but I don't think that others used to deed restrictions are very appreciative of it. You can hang them on your lanai or in your garage and get them just as dry.

Well, just to be clear, I think they were "being sneaky" for the greater good, to maintain a high appearance standard. If they could disallow it they would, and the vast majority would agree, but since they can't they implied that it was not allowed to dissuade the few. I wouldn't speak blasphemy against the Morse family, obviously I'm a fan of what they've accomplished, even if it occasionally requires a bit of sneakiness.
Edited to fix typo.

Once you have your clothes hung on the line and sun dried you will understand about our dislike for dryers. The sun and breeze gently dry the clothes rather than baking the hell out of them while beating them to death!
