We come from all over here in The Villages and we are justifiably proud of our roots. Here is a nice salute to Ohio.

Tell us what you love about YOUR place of birth.

We have the number one Heart Hospital in the U.S. The Cleveland Clinic
And Cincinnati Children's Hospital ranks second in the country right behind the wonderful Boston Children's Hospital.

I'm also from Boston, but my ancestors were all in Canada and Italy at the time of the Revolution. Both sets of grandparents came here in the early 1900s.

Ohio is/was a great place to live. I love the video you posted. I am from from Cincinnati home of the Reds and the Bengals, both of which are doing well this year. It is also home to University of Cincinnati and many other great colleges and universities. UC medical center is world renowned and Cincinnati children's is the top in the treatment of childhood cancer. When I worked in radiation therapy we had people coming from all around to get treated in Cincy.
Most importantly, however, it was home to Gracie, Carol and I. Did I forget to mention the home of Cincinnati chili which is also nationally famous. The hot dog place at Brownwood market serves Cincy chili on their hot dogs. At least they say they do, it isn't what I remember. All the stores around here sell SKYLINE chili in the frozen food sections. Graters and Aglamesis ice cream is to die for. The Octoberfest in Cincy is second only to Munich and the St Pat's parade ranks way up there. NMow I am really home sick.:sigh:

I have no reason to be proud of Massachusetts. The only thing I did there was get born. I never lived there and I have no memory of the hospital where I was born. It's all a blur.

I was born in Wellingborough, England and came to NYC with my mom in 1948. I was a year and a half old, couldn't speak the language and didn't have a penny to my name. What a great country!

If I could time travel, I would love to go back to the West Side of Manhattan in the '50s and early '60's. What a magnificent place to grow up. I miss it and am proud that I had the opportunity. :)

Lived in Ohio for a year but new York is home for me.

Living in the old Italian neighborhood with it's feast in the fifty's, was a grand time. Playing stickball in the streets, and everyone in the neighborhood watching out for you, good and bad. :D

You can take the boy out of New York City, but you can't take the New York City, out of the boy.

BTW - I wouldn't write home, praising the New York roads. Some potholes are so big, you lose sight of the front end, when entering.

Not from Cinc but drove through it to get to Covington or as we called it in the 60's Sin City. From Toledo and then Cleveland. Ohio is a great place to be from.

You know you're from Ohio when:

Vacation" means driving through Hocking Hills or going to King's Island
You know what a real buckeye is, and have a recipe for candy ones
You've seen all the biggest bands ten years after they were popular
You know if another Ohioian is from southern, middle or northern Ohio as soon as they open their mouth

Both my wife and I are B&Rs from the Garden State. I have included a link that gives some of the reasons why we love our state (in addition to greatest state population density, one of the three highest per capita incomes, one of the largest percentage of high school students taking entrance exams and enrolling in college, most dense highway and rail system in the U.S., largest seaport in the U.S., etc.). You can look up any state from this link.

I just returned from my 45th high school reunion in Lebanon, Indiana. I grew up there in the 60's. It was nice to return in July and see lightning bugs, even mosquitos, tall green cornstalks and have home-cooked green beans with bacon and onions in them. I also visited my birth city of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Great small townn America cities in Indiana. Also lived in Huron Mansfield and West Chester (Cincinnati) OHIO. Great Midwest memories!

I spent the 6 most miserable years of my life just north of Columbus, Ohio.

Maybe it's me, but Ohio State fans are basically intolerable.

No, I'm not from Michigan. I'm from New Jersey and went to Rutgers, newest member of the Big 10 (and about to take several beat downs in football this season).

Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.

B&R in South Dakota. Heard it's the only state in the lower 48 that has a place that you can travel in any direction for 100 miles and not see a McDonalds. Still only 1 area code for the whole state.

The born & raised expression has been around for a long time. No, it shouldn't be "reared." Raised in a very common term regarding children. Here are a few examples:

$245,340: Cost of raising a child born in 2013 (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2014/08/18/raising-child-cost-2013/14236535/)

I was born in Seattle, Washington with the mountains and a corn field in my back yard. We used to play hide and seek among the stalks. We've lived all over the country, in 11 different states, but Ohio has been my home for the last 8 years. I just love it and it will be greatly missed when we leave to come to TV. We live in Findlay, near Toledo. I was just thinking the other day how great Ohio and its people are. My husband edged all the neighbors yards on our block Saturday. Didn't mention it to any of them. The very next day, our next door neighbor cut our grass. Ohio is the friendliest state I have ever lived in and when we flood in Findlay (as we tend to do quite a bit) everyone pitches in and helps out. Honestly, however, the Farmer's Almanac is forecasting another cold winter: 2015 Long-Range Weather Forecast for Toledo, Ohio (http://www.almanac.com/weather/longrange/OH/Toledo)

pretty sure not many posts will be about my home state, wyoming. the values learned there are still in me. many say how beautiful it is, but they have not endured the many miles between nowhere, throw in a lot of snow blowing sideways, with wind temps well below 0, 4-5 months out of the year. good place to grow up and raise a family, not so much to play golf in.

I grew up in Secaucus, NJ. I don't know exactly why but many Catholics in my home town went to the University of Dayton. I hung out with the same 4 guys all through high school. Two of them graduated from Dayton and so did their older and younger sisters. They were very proud of their college.
I remember the first Christmas, freshman year we reunited. We dressed like college students in high school or thought we did; wearing navy blue blazers, grey wool trousers with cuffs and oxblood penny loafers [sans pennies]. At the reunion we all had long hair, bell bottoms and beards. :)
So much for the "preppy" look in the all boys Catholic High School we attended.
I also remember they told me that when you order a sandwich in Ohio and you ask for it on a roll, no one asks if you want Kaiser or Italian. They said in Ohio they make sandwiches on a hamburger buns and call them rolls. And if you want a soda you have to ask for "pop". We were shocked! Unbelievable! :)

I still can't get used to how everyone in Ohio seems to have an internal compass. They all know in which direction they are facing: north, south, east or west. In Louisiana, we just told people to turn right or left.

What I love about Ohio? Looking at Youngstown through the rear view mirror of my car.Known for years as Murder Town USA,known for the most corrupt and nutty congressman of all time James Traficant,I'm glad to be out of there.I did like the Briar Hill pizza though and we can boast actor Ed O'Neill as one of our own.He even did an interview where he said all the old neighborhood guys have been killed or are in jail.
