No fear message sent to the ponderers in Washington.
Question from other threads.....what will it take to inspire/prod/motivate/care enough to take action.
We are being being mocked and laughed at around the world.:censored:

Of course by now we all know it is verified.
We need leadership now. Lack of is what got us here at present. Our absence in Iraq, and we did not have to leave, our ignoring of Syria (among a few others we have avoided) bring us here. I mention the Iraq and Syria situations only because that is WHY we are where we are.
Trust me....a bit hit is coming, and just my gut says it will be because of our policies toward our borders.
It is nice to be idealistic, but we need realistic leadership. Words are not making any difference...the world is on fire as we speak.

It was posted that our absence in Iraq brought us to this point. How about it was our presence in Iraq that brought us to this point? Why did the US get involved in Iraq in the first place? It was not necessary for our national security.
It got around 4,500 Americans killed, many more thousands mutilated, cost trillions of dollars, and led to the hatred of the US throughout the region.

Everyone knows what is going on, except for a few, sadly including US govt.

people like Brigitte Gabriele and Sean Hannity have been warning about the islamic threat for years!!! politically correct fools call THEM the fanatics....no profiling, allowing radicalization by internet and probably in mosques. did you hear the boos by the liberal democrats in England already clamoring to protect the "rights" of traitorous citizens returning to britain, when their leader Cameron took decisive action? i don't think traitors should be given rights of citizenship once they have fought for the enemy.

If you have the need to discuss the past Iraq war, I suggest you start another thread to rehash it one more time.
The relevance is that, for what appears to be domestic political concerns, we fled Iraq, NO MATTER HOW WE GOT THERE, then ignored SYria after the infamous "red line".
Point being made is simply that those two actions or inactions are what has allowed this ISIS movement to become what it
I might add that the imigration issue, specifically the border in the southwest has been an issue for a number of years with our country NOT enforcing our laws. This, hopefully, will not come back to haunt us. There are warnings already issued in that area about ISIS and their interest in our borders being so easy to cross. YET, we hear nothing on that.....nothing.
Beating Iraq to death once again is what we have done since 2007 or 2008 and this is what it has wrought

If we had a time machine it would there , maybe, could be an opportunity to Monday moring quarterback, vent and change the outcome.
In it's absence we should focus on the here and now and encourage the proponents of do nothing to do their jobs and protect this nation and it's citizens.
Doing something has risks and doing nothing is even worse as only more Americans will surely die......and soon here in the USA.
I do not subscribe to doing nothing when there is a threat as it only benefits the terrorists/murderers/thugs/:censored:cowards.

This is a very uncomfortable position for our country to be in.
In the past, and even now with some, we touted how it is their problem and not our problem thus we should just stay out of it.
For many years, folks have been warning, and when I say years I am talking about right prior to and right after 9/11/2001, that these folks want to kill US...meaning americans.
It is easy to say it is none of our business, but the world is so small now....we are just as open to attack as anyone in the middle east....we cannot take that stance at all.
We need to show leadership and to those who will say, the worlds problems are not the United States problems, I agree, HOWEVER, we are the most powerful and therefore I think have a responsibility to the world to act and we have not. That inaction and lack of leadership has us playing catch up.
It is not too late, and I sure wish there was a magic button for us to push, but it does not exist. I just want us to lock up our border for one....I want us to "get involved" in the world and stop denying our leadership role. Leadership is not always comfortable and easy. I understand how tired we are in this country and I understand we have elections, but as time has worn on, have we not learned how wrong we can be at times.
Just show leadership is all I am asking and especially regarding our border.

I understand your sentiment and others Rags… BUT, the people have spoken (via the ballot box) and the majority of this country voted for a "kinder, gentler, disengaged" president. Our country has not been deceived by our politicians. They are not asleep. Our majority politicians believe in an isolationist foreign policy of "active disengagement". We are living through the effects of this policy.
To continually scold people to wake up, get engaged, take action is futile. Our ELECTED politicians are guiding this country down a predictable path and again one that the majority of citizens VOTED for. :mornincoffee:

You read my feelings correctly. We did vote for this...and if I am that much in the minority, I just shut up. I suppose hearing a poster wanting to once again dwell on Bush, Iraq, etc. should tell me that this threat and all the others left unattended are secondary to whatever.
To support your point, this ISIS threat is not new......just was uncomfortable at election time if you recall....So relegated to JV.

Do weapons of mass destruction sound familiar???
Thank you President Bush.
WOW
I am floored by this !!!
You and the other poster who feels this point in history is important, in my opinion now, are more about politics than the country.
You do know that ISIS did not even exist until 3 years ago, and began when the USA just flat out turned their back on the killing in Syria...born in Syria three years ago. And you bring up Bush and Iraq.
They then moved into Iraq where a vacuum existed partly because we rushed out of there for strictly political reasons which despite all the political talk is the fact. And you bring up Bush and Iraq.
They have prospered while we mocked them in the last three years...called them JVs.......and you bring up Bush and Iraq.
We have a wide open border with very few restraints...border warnings about ISIS crossings in Texas...and you bring up Bush and Iraq.
WOW is all I can say.

President Barack Obama is heading to the NATO summit this evening where he will try to build a coalition of the willing, bringing Sunni and Shia to the table. This is what Pres GHW Bush did successfully in the early 1990's. If we have to go back to Iraq, this time we will be greeted as liberators.
Hopefully, if congress votes to authorize military action in Iraq, they will include a tax increase to pay for it, unlike the recent Iraq war. All patriots should support that. We must fight them there, or we will be fighting them here. The next warning could come in the form of a mushroom cloud. When the Iraqi army steps up, we can step down and declare mission accomplished.
It would also be good if congress would reinstate the draft, so that other young men and women get to experience our military. It just doesn't seem fair that the same soldiers are being asked to return five, six, seven times.
Thank you to all the posters on this forum for your service to this great country.

Politics has played a very important part in Iraq. Weren't those "weapons" political??? How could you not associate one thing with the other?
You really don't think those invisible weapons of mass destruction started a trend of more bad things to come? It's all been bad ever since and not limited to just Iraq, obviously. Iraq was a contagion and the disease is still spreading.
You don't see the connection??? All I can say is WOW!

Bush...vs. axis of evil, you knew first
He appears to be at the base of every evil in the world.
When you are discussing a violent movement, a war in Syria, missing planes now in Libya, beheaded journalists, bombing in the mideast all over, and it can be covered by a blanket called Bush, well no more to say. That attitude is why we are where we are...we need to do NOTHING but just let everyone know about this evil evil man.
I will admit it does make it easier......all the goodness we have now is being tarnished by this man..when will it end.

Bush saw the evil first. He acted. Lots of wrongs, but the evil rises. He saw it coming.

in some ways this forum is very much like Washington politics.
Some continue to want to blame some one other than the current administration. And even in the face of current macabre events, the here and now, those some prefer to continue the debate of yesterday.
This type behavior is exactly what is an impediment in government. The all important priority of party first or self agenda some how seems to command center stage and DO NOTHING to bring we the people together to fight a common enemy.
How hard is is for the party horn blowers to lay down their sling shots and fight the common battle. Even the terrorists have it more right than some Americans. They don't care if you are from a red state or a blue state or democrat or republican.....they want YOU dead because YOU are an American.
