Not a surprise. They have a Winn-Dixie at Pinellas, one at 44/301, and Sav-A-Lot on 301.

I've never been in there, but it looks "sketchy" from the outside
This is just MHO

We shopped there all the time before the one at Pinellas opened. It was clean, good people, and customers were not sketchy at all. I'm sorry it's closing. We planned to resume shopping there when the winter TV rush began.
Many of there employees came to the new store to help ease the opening and helping new employees learn the ropes. Some of them stayed. I hope the rest can be relocated to other stores.

Why is it, "Not a surprise"?

WD is know to be the Beef People.....and they are absolutly correct.
The meat, steaks in particular, are the best I have ever eaten.....
No one can compete.....as far as I am concerned......
Sorry to hear they are closing, just means I will have to travel a little farther to get to another WD for the best meats..

I have shopped at the WD in the villages on 466a and found it to be a very nice store with friendly employees.

The store in Wildwood has been at a good location and sometimes I'd dash in and get just what I needed, at good prices.
Some think the working people (or maybe welfare recipients) at the Wildwood Winn Dixie look "sketchy", but I think the regulars--AKA "BAR FLIES"--at a certain porch bar at Lake Sumter are "sketchier".

No loss... I would never shop there anyhow but a lot of folks in Wildwood did.

It continues to amaze me the thoughts some of you have on the people in the surrounding communities. It really is a shame.

Maybe not a loss to you, but certainly a loss for many people in close proximity without other means of transportation. Also a potential loss to other businesses in the location who count on the draw.
Nothing wrong with that store or the people who shop there. Unfortunate victim(s) of the economics.

Management told me this was all in the plans to close the Wildwood Store when Pinellas opened.. or for that matter when the new store was in the plans to be built.

Hope another anchor tenet will take that spot as the lower traffic will be a negative for the fine folks that own Wildwood Cyclery in that same shopping center.
Would be a great location for an Aldi !

I've stopped in a couple of times out of convenience when traveling. Sorry to see it go. And I live in TV.

Why soooo much negativity without any stated reasons to justify it?
Winn Dixie in our opinion has the best meats. Pork Chops & Steak are always very flavorful & tender.
I just can't be happy about any business closing that puts people out of their needed jobs.

Me, too. we've been shopping there since we moved here. Great store with very helpful employees. Loved their butcher and meat department; however, since the new store opened in Pinellas, I shop there now. Much prefer the WD meats to any meats sold at Publix.

I shopped there many a time before the new one opened and NEVER saw a problem with the place or the people. As for the sketchier people at the porch bar I think that was uncalled for period. If you don't like a store or a bar don't go period. The bottom line is the store is closing and more people will be out of work and that's a shame period. JMO

I am confused. Are there 2 winn dixies in wildwood? I thought when they said one was closing it was the one on 44 and 301?

Maybe so, but if they offer jobs to the people in the Wildwood store, they would most likely have to pick up and move. Not so easily done.

Yesterday I was heading for the new publix when my tire blew on 466A. Because WD was right there I went there and shopped while my husband dealt with the tire problem.
I have always heard they have the best beef. I wanted a beef roast. I had my choice of exactly one rather expensive roast.
I could not find the cereal my husband eats, white thread, the Soup I live on, or the shaved roast beef that they have in the LSL store. On a list of nine items I could not find four of them. I spoke with the store director and he said he knows there are things they need to add and he is working on it.
I jokingly asked him if we should shop at Publix in the mean time... He said they are trying to avoid that. I also pointed out how small the meat section is and he agreed., especially since they stand on being the meat people. The store is clean, close, has nice employees and I am going to drive right past it to shop at Publix since the new one is not as cluttered.:gc::cus: That is if my tires don't blow.
