I sampled the most delicious decadent chocolate cake today. It's more like a triple layer fudge brownie cake with huge layers of the fudgiest chocolate frosting I've ever tasted. I've requested the recipe and will share it when I get it.
Although I only had one bite...it was heavenly!

Hi Ladies,
Watched a softball game in beautiful weather. Had dinner with my husband in an Irish pub.
This past weekend (plus a few more days) I spent in Chicago with my daughter. I sent a PM to Chels telling her everything I did. We had a great time in Chicago. Will be coming to theVillages in about a month. :) Everybody stay Happy! :)

I was on the road with hubby all day working. I took in the beautiful views all over Marion county, taking in the lush green pastures with horses, cattle and the foals and calves. Even met a couple of kids, and mama goat came running over and gave approval, as the little kids poked their little noses through the fence in pure curiosity. I took in the moment and seized it!!

We've been enjoying spending time with our grandsons. The oldest one runs high school track, and his team won the sectionals, so he was thrilled. The younger one who is 15 is now getting interested in art. He's at that age where he kind of ignores most adults but I actually had a real conversation with him about artwork - it made me feel pretty special!

The best thing I did today was to get an internet connection at the cottage (I'm in Canada). It is dial-up because there is no cable and very slow! But I just couldn't stand the idea of five days without knowing what my peeps are doing.
I can look in on people and see Sammy cooking, Beady sitting on the lanai, Chels playing with Gregory, Susan&Tom cleaning and packing, Nonie in the cellar, Donna trying to talk John into buying a mansion, Bright playing with her grandkids, Ronda rocking on, Marti walking by Lake Erie, HB and Kathie planning their trips back to TV, etc., etc. TOTV is a wonderful way to keep in touch.
I sat in the hot tub for an hour with Fireboy, looking at the Lake and counting my blessings. I think this is the happiest part of my life so far. I'm having a great time in Canada, and look forward so much to being back on the Reservation.

Sounds like you and Fireboy had a wonderful time in the hot tub, just being with each other. "I think this is the happiest part of my life so far."
And the other good thing you did for yourself - internet connection - was just another way of being good to yourself.
Looking forward to seeing you back home in TV and hearing all about your vacation in Canada. Would love to know more about your world travelling aunt.

If you wonder how to celebrate a birthday, many years ago the g'children decided my hubby "wanted" to celebrate his b'day at Chunk-e-Cheese.
Since they were the planners they got him a crown from Burger King and his gift was a jar of anchovies to put on his pizza at Chunk-e-Cheese. They blindfolded him and gave him as many wrong clues as possible. The kids and I had a fantastic time. All we did was laugh. Hubby being a great sport went along with it.

What a good looking group for lunch. Makes my heart warm to see some of my dear friends together like that. Few missing, but we will be there some other time.
Now Mahjong...has anyone ever played Bunco? Could you have several tables, in Mahjong, play a round or so and move to the next table/partner like you do in Bunco? This group is growing. Does that work?
Oh, can we have dorky little prizes????? I have some white elephants I can't toss but could easily give as prizes...http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj277/lake21brook/36_11_61.gif laughing, cause now someone else would be stuck with it...oh especially Nonie, she couldn't throw it away either.

Not a bad idea ......moving from table to table. I was in a game Sunday with 2 tables, one red, one black. The hostess had eight playing cards from a deck ....4 black,4 red, you drew a card and played at the coresponding table.

We have had Euchre parties with large groups of friends. You move table to table and it's so much fun! In fact, Mr. Bright knows how to set up the tables so no one has the same partner twice during the evening. Maybe we could Mah Jong one time, Bunco another, and Euchre another.

I think this is a good thing, today I watched as the auctioneers loaded up a huge moving van chocked full to the top with a collection of treasures from the past 37 years. They also took away Eng. guys 1950 ford pickup that he so lovingly restored. I didnt feel bad really, just couldnt believe how much a family can accumulate over the years.
As I look around I realize that there is so much more that needs to GO and this was just the beginning.

It's been a long, arduous trek since last February and I'm still 13 pounds shy of where I have set my goal. Even when I reach my goal, I still won't have the girlish figure I had when I was younger but I'll be happy.

Oh Nonie, I so identify. When my Granddaughter lost a Great grandparent, the somberness of the occasion made an impression on her. A week after the funeral she took my face in both her little 5 year old hands and said "Grammie, I love you so much. When you die I'm going to put flowers on you everyday." I laughed at her sweet words, kissed her and fervently wished that she be quite old when this little scenario takes place!

Went with vetman to try and buy a HDTV for the living room. This is always a drama and a huge negotiation process. The one I really wanted, he wouldn't buy. Well, we finally agreed on one and wouldn't you know it -- they were out of stock! What am I doing good for myself, you ask? I am not putting a pillow over his darling little head as he sleeps. ;D

I retired from my job of 28+ years yesterday. Had a great retirement luncheon. I won't miss the job but will miss the nice people. And, we sold our house up north (by ourselves, without a broker), so by mid August I will officially be homeless and unemployed, LOL! Actually we do have a home in The Villages, which we will use as a homebase as we start doing more traveling.

Where do you play Texas HoldemChels? My husband played in a private game for awhile, then tried the weekly tournament at Paradise? center. Then late this spring we got into the Euchre games twice a week, so we've been hooked on that. Everyone puts in a couple of bucks, and you have a chance at some small winnings. Nice bunch of people too. We miss it since we've been up north, but will be going back this October when we're back down.

Brightspot,
From top to bottom? In one day? Now, that is impressive. I guess they don't call you Brightspot for nuthin'.
But I was just wondering, if maybe, when you are on your way, to and fro, up and down 75, could you maybe stop by my house?

I have an itty bitty teeny weenie patio villa. A long shot from my larger permanent home up North which I hire to have cleaned! LOL
And, for the record, I haven't cleaned a house from top to bottom for a few years...just isn't my thing. But, after being here for a month, I had no dang choice!
So out came the Sno Bol, Windex, Comet, Pine Sol, mops, brooms, buckets, sponges, and...ummmm....I forget what else. And...I reorganized closets, too!
I did a good job and it smells oh so sweet plus all the cupboards are nice and neat, too.

Well this doesn't sound good and it wasn't done on purpose, but . . .
I spilled an entire can of soda in my purse and fried my iPhone. So where's the happy ending you might ask. Well, I called Apple and they did indeed confirm that it was toast, so they told me I had to get a new phone.

I spent the day with a delightful young lady, had a horribly unhealthy but delicious fast food, high caloric lunch, went to a movie that I would never have chosen but enjoyed regardlessly, shopped SS, walked the boardwalk at LSL, browsed Barnes and Noble, and sampled Strawberry Cheesecake Haagen Daz ice cream only because I wanted to see what my young lady found so wonderful about this flavor. (She had a double scoop...fudge brownie and Strawberry Cheesecake.)
Then to top it off, I had a water fight! It was so humid. Water fountains and decorative fountains in LSL provided a fancy free and footloose end to the day. I was a horrible mess after my young friend doused me good with handful after handful of water. Boy, did it feel good! Silliness made my day...getting her wet and her getting me soaked.
I bow to youth!
Now that I'm home...a glass of wine is in order...lol.
