Bright,

I had to laugh at your description of these kids you have but I realize its no laughing matter when you have to try and control them!

Ill just bet retirement in paradise cant come too soon for you:and you sure will have earned it! ;)

ps. theres a lot of great drugs on the market!

Yes, I can manage these children with no problem. The first few weeks are always the most difficult as I am the Wicked Witch. I'm always relieved when I can let Glinda emerge after a couple of months.

Yesterday, the teacher across the hall from me was lamenting about her rowdy group. She looked at me and sighed as she told me that she wishes she had the magic touch with children that I have. She went on to say that come November she knows my class will be attentive, good workers, and well behaved as opposed to hers still being rowdy because she will still be trying to figure out how to gain control.

We all need compliments no matter how old we get and I smiled as I turned and walked away.

Hey Bare, what kind of avatar is that? How will I be able to recognize you? Are you blue?
My pics are all recent. I wish everyone had their current picture posted. I have seen avatars and think they are current. You go to an outing and meet the person and you don't recognize them because they look nothing like the pic that is posted. You are all beautiful. We are what we are...older! Show your current face, please. You will still be loved! ;)

OK Sam, you asked for it, I'm changing my avatar. I think it will have purple disco stripes tho, I must be doing something wrong.

The avatar I've been using is a picture taken in Santorini, Greece .. my favourite view of all time. (Although I did get a PM from Tony the Admin asking it was, I thought I was getting banned for a bad avatar).

Just Susan
09-10-2008, 01:37 AM
Bare, Greece was so tranquil. I knew it was, the depth of the blue could be nothing else.

This avatar is so, so, "Nickelodeon green slime." Do you need help?

Did you ever see that show? It was on when my kids were young. Kids and parents negotiated an obstacle course and sometimes a big bucket of green slime would be dumped on their heads coating their entire body with ooze. Ewwww!

Also, about the dates for the Freeze - we will be in NY in late December and probably not back until around the 29th, so we'll be doing our Freezing up there.

Maybe we should invite Joe Biden for the entertainent. If you look at my thread in political on Biden loves TV, there is a great clip. It's not really political. It is funny as the dickens. While you are on that clip, there is one close by that has his movements working with a rap song. I loved it...but as Gracie said.."I ain't right."
Yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! I see the galloping horse is back in the smilies. He is one of my faves.

My husband takes a long walk every morning. (I walk to the computer in our BR and check in to TOTV). This morning he saw four snakes our village.:undecided:
We have a bumper crop of anoles right now. I just love the little ones. When you hold them and talk to them, they cock their little heads just like a dog does.
Hubs would like them to go away. He has the "where there are lots of anoles, there are snakes" opinion. We really do not mind snakes either...as long as we can see them.

Hello all,
I know awhile back many of you were kind enough to invite us to a "Crispers" meeting of TOTV people.
I'm guessing that Crispers is like a bar or a restaurant somewhere in TV.
Is is in that main st section when you turn off of 27 by that big goft cart bridge, or is it in the Sumpter Landing area?

Also, when does this get together happen for TOTV people?

We will be back in Florida from 10/6 to 11/1, and look forward to meeting some of you.

I'm also looking forward to going to the monthly MAC computer meeting there.

Thanks, Frank D.

chuckinca
09-17-2008, 12:16 AM
Crispers is in Southern Trace Plaza. On 466 West of Buena Vista and before (East of) the Wal-Mart on 466. Not on Main Street in Spanish Springs.

If you're coming up from Plantations, take the Turnpike North to 301, 301 North thru Wildwood, go about 5 miles North and make a right on 466, Southern Trace Plaza is on the left about a mile East of 301. We are coming in from California in mid October and hope to make that the October meeting - see your there!

Believe there is a meeting the third Friday of each month at 3 PM (someone correct me if wrong). Where's Redwitch! She knows all
this stuff.

PS: Still have my Mac 512 and Olive Drab Carrying Case

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and all of us could use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace.

Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and never finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished. Before leaving the house this morning, I finished a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now!!

Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace.

Yes, Bare. I have already alluded to the screen of death on another thread.
It may come in handy! :)
It was beautiful here in TV today. It felt like a Florida fall day. The breeze was brisk and the sun bright. I went out and played cards with girlfriends. When I got home, Mr Sam presented me with a new golf bag and clubs. I guess I will go learn how to play golf.

Just Susan
09-20-2008, 09:05 PM
Yeaaa, Sammie, I am going to golf when we get there too. I used to be okay at it many years ago, but have not played in about 20 years. I have a brand new unused set also.

Can't wait, so many laughs ahead.

samhass

It was lovely here yesterday. I went riding for the first time this year at my girlfriend's farm. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The last of my two horses died this Spring so I thought I'd be too sad to ride again, but it was fine.

Today it was 75 degrees and sunny, beautiful Fall weather and the leaves are starting to change. The birds are starting to head south for the winter.
Hahaha .. and soon, so will I!!

Sammy, you got golf clubs, great! I've been thinking of taking golf lessons when I get to TV just to see if I can work up any enthusiasm. I already know I'm very enthusiastic about the lunching part!

See y'all soon.

Are you kidding? This is going to be so cool. We are already a threesome...who will be our 4th?

Susan, I took golf lessons 30 years ago. The Pro said (and he was serious) that I should find another sport, that I'd never make a good golfer. So I started playing squash.

So I doubt I'd be any better now. I either miss the ball or hit the ground and jar my teeth. Not sure if there is any hope for me at all.

But I know how to do the lunching part really, really well. :clap2:

We are just going to have to start a rotating list of players. We may need to form more than one 4-some.

I think we will definitely need to keep this to nine holes so we have plenty of time for a long lunch. Maybe we can be the "Hacker/Smackers", or "Whack and Snack" or ...

I don't know, but I think the focus should be nine holes, at a different course each time, followed immediately with a long leisurely lunch. We will work off what we eat with all that excercise.

Good news today, the husband of a dear friend had surgery and came through with flying colours.

I just looked at the helping hands thread. I can't believe how it got hijacked. It went from being something good and noble to a free for all. I am finished with it.

awwww, Gracie, I think MOST of us are about the same age. Please don't be discouraged. Hopefully the children will find people their own age to play with.

Sammie, you had good intent, then we followed suit. I don't blame you for being upset. Many of us volunteered because of the basic plan you put forth. I remember the day this all came together. We were all of pm'ing each other back and forth and it was a wonderful feeling.

If someone wanted to start another kind of thread, they should have and not bastardized Helping Hands. Just to help someone move is ludicrous. As I stated earlier, we would be swamped with requests and then fall into the moving business. Everyone wants help with that! And as Johnny rightfully pointed out, there could be liabilities attached to the heavy lifting of boxes or breaking someone's items.

I think the admins were very heavy-handed in this situation. They deleted threads and they blamed one person, Bright, and THAT IS THE WRONG PERSON!

Cassie, hit me with your best shot because I'm really p.o'ed over this. :swear:

Let's see how long this posts stays up!

Bright is just that. She is bright and a Brightspot in my life. She calls things as she sees them and I love that about her. She doesn't play games.
I hope TOTV does not become like The Sun......

Tony, Bright, Gracie, Johnny, Chels, Sam, Bare, all helping hands originators, .....I posted my feelings yesterday and thought long and hard about a peaceful end, on both sides. I recieved thank-you's from both sides. I rationalized the debacle and posted with much thought. I was shocked to see my post removed. The basic reason this all fell apart is the forum chosen. Maybe TOTV is changing. Helping Hands is not for moveing people in. Deleting certain peoples opinion posts is disheartening to say the least. I know. My peaceful, rational post was deleted. The folks whose posts were deleted feel betrayed. They are good people making a statement most agreed with. Guess we will stay clear of the forums, what a shame!! You may lose all your top posters.

My uncontroversial post was removed. Yet I have had my heart warmed a couple of times by people who were new to TV who said my straightforward and honest posts helped them choose this place to live.

I am so dismayed. We as seniors wouldn't go to a college blog and try to be a part of things. Nothing wrong with them. Nothing wrong with us. Our age brings issues only our age understands.

This will be removed too, I guess. Then I am gone for good.

We will be there at Crispers and being the newbies, we are trying to do everything right. NONE of us brought a red anything to wear, and we are all a decided shade of blue, just tried eating lunch on the screen porch and and my roast beef sandwich just about blew off my plate. I think it may snow.

My spouse, AKA Sweetie is out on the Palmer wearing everything he owns. Do you have those great big dogs with the casks? Is Crispers in Spanish Springs?

Now all this because someone posted in the wrong thread??? Come'on folks, why do we have to go through this every once in a while... Take a walk around the block and whisper to yourself, life is good, I'm alive and breathing. Haven't you ever made a mistake EVER?? I would find that hard to believe, but what upsets me more than thinking that we're being censored is the fact that we "attack" a person for making a mistake, and I mean really attack!! No, rshoffer, Crispers is on 466 in the Southern Trace shopping plaza, at the end of it closer to the CR 101. Its the same plaza that Publix is in.

But Kathie. I didn't attack anyone. I was trying to explain how it is to be older and not be as able to move heavy things. It made me sad to talk about it because most of us want to think we are unbreakable, still young. That post was removed. I believe the bitter feelings were triggered by...a.."You just don't understand" feeling. IN my humble opinion. I know it doesn't take a house to fall on me to understand what is happening and it breaks my heart. This place has become a beloved community to me and I see it changing when we can't really speak our minds.

Amity and I have taken a motorcycle trip and I am currently sitting on the front porch of the Gibson Inn in Apalachicola, Florida. I had hoped to be away from everything for a few days, but it appears that a crisis has arisen here on Talk of The Villages and here I am, back at it.

The three administrators of this board have tried very hard at great personal expense and time to provide a forum where Village residents can enjoy themselves, make new friends and support each other (example the TOTV cruise). We provide this as a "free" service to our fellow members. There is not one member who invests one penny toward the operation of this forum. It is done gratefully by your three administrators. Likewise, not one member spends one second on the administration of this forum, nor do they answer any of the hundreds of emails and complaints that we receive every month about everything associated with this board.

We have a responsibility to all of the members to do our best to provide a place where everybody can visit without fear of being ridiculed or taken to task for their sincere efforts. When a new forum is put up, it is done so by the administrators, and it is we who decide how it will be used and how the rules will be enforced. No forum belongs to any one individual.

Every hour of every day, we each receive emails and personal messages from members who have issues about everything you can imagine. The complaints range from "people are picking on me" to "the in crowd is taking over the board," to "why don't you remove his post" to "my ad is too small" to "this board isn't what I want it to be" to "this is the most confusing forum I have ever seen" to "did you see what she said about me," and so on and so on and so on. We accept the responsibility because we knew is came with the territory.

There is no Talk of The Villages Court. But there are three administrators who are human and want the best forum for all the members. From time to time there is an emotionally charged thread that gets out of hand and it will only lead to further problems. So, a decision may be made to derail the runaway locomotive. That is not censorship.

Now, if anybody has a better idea of how we can manage our board and make everybody happy all of the time, your three administrators would like to hear the plan. This plan has got to include a system by which we can make a decision about hurtful posts that pleases every living soul.

What do you all want this board to be like? A place where everybody can have a good time, or one where there is no order and nobody looking after things. The second option is the easiest for us.

I don't mind telling you that the three of us feel very bad that our efforts to make Talk of The Village a nice place has taken a turn because a few people feel that their right to say whatever they want has been disallowed.

I have know Tony Zona for 42 years. He and his wife are godparents to my daughter. You will not ever find a person who is more eager to do the right thing every time. He does not act out of haste or malicious intent. He is thorough in his thinking and makes decisions based on what is best for a proper outcome.

We don't want anybody to leave this forum, nor will be intimidated into changing our system by threats that an individual or a group will leave. Please use this forum for what it is intended....fun for all.

Some of them I have even seen and hugged. This forum is the ONLY reason I came to see The Villages and it is a crucial reason why we bought there. I want to tell anyone that reads this that I am sorry if I ever made YOU feel left out. I am a person who really loves to know everyone. Hi Jan,

First I am sorry you had to cut your vacation short. Since I enjoy travelling I can well understand your feelings.

Some of the members of TOTV have contributed to the cost of the operation of TOTV - this was done some time ago. Perhaps if you put up the old ad you had about making donations to TOTV you will get more financial assistance.

I can only imagine the letters you get. From my own personal experience, people will complain about anything and everything.

Personally I would hate to see this site close down. Is there anyway some of us can assist? Hopefully this would take some of the burden off of the "Administrators" shoulders.

I will be the first to offer my assistance with this endeavor.

To the three of you - THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK.

As the director of a staff of young engineers for the past 25 -30 years, I can appreciate the stream of complaints and suggestions and persnickety remarks made day in and day out, but as I always said to them, I'll listen to your comments very intently but remember, I AM THE DIRECTOR, and I make the final decision like it or not. So although the suggestion of assisting the admins of their tough task is nice, unfortunately I think that the decision making cannot be dispersed over a few people. And.... IMO I believe Jan, Tony and Darrell have handled all this is the most careful manner trying very hard to be fair and within defined guidelines. They have added new forums for us to enjoy and post into and easy to search useful information.

Oh and by the way, those engineers accepted my edict because I was right!! As a matter of fact, I had the lowest personnel turn over in the corporation and the only way I could get rid of them was when they were promoted. :a040:

My personal thanks to the 3 admins because without TOTV I wouldn't be having the wonderful time I'm having since I moved here, and I wouldn't have the wonderful, giving, caring friends that I have made on this forum...
Thanks guys, !! Kath

Gracie,

Thanks I do try to stay calm and see both sides of a story, and I just do not like seeing the posts become so contentious and consequently deleted. Tony, Darrell and Jan have taken on the task of keeping us all in line, and according to their guidelines they have the right to decide what to delete on their blog. I do not have to like it, but I will abide by their decision. We really are fortunate to have an outlet that is this informative, and, keeps us connected with the fulltime, snowbirds , and future Villagers.

As I said previously....can't we all agree to disagree and keep the comments civil.

One of my favorite writers Mark Twain said, "It's easier to stay out than to get out." And I have been repeating that quote over and over to myself today as I wander in and out of the kitchen where this infernal computer lives.

Well, finally, I could not stand it anymore and I sat right down and pounded out my opinion on all this.

And I took a deep breath and I read through my post and I played devil's advocate and I thought some more. And then I finally hit send, with my fingers crossed that I had not just stepped into a minefield.

Well, guess what.

This :cus: thing had timed me out.

So I tried to print from the little box -- which I could retrieve. I could see my words there. So I hit Print, trying to get all the paragraphs. (You all know by now how much I like paragraphs.)

Well, anyway, I had to print 3 times, I thought, to try to capture all my paragraphs from that little box where they were taunting me. And I ran back the hall with high hopes to the printer which lives in Mr. Boomer's office. You know those touching scenes in the movies where they run in slow motion, propelled by love. Well, I loved my post. I did. I was in love with those words. And I planned to type it again from the hodge-podge of 3 printings from the little box.

And you know what that :cus: printer gave me back in return for my love. It gave me 3 full printouts of everybody else's responses to TH. My beloved words were nowhere to be found. Do you think maybe I was guilty of hubris or something?

So anyway, I remember one part. It was a quote from Mother Teresa. "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."

Well, I am no Mother Teresa. But I sure liked that quote.

And you know, if you look back at that quote and you remove the word "kind" and you substitute any antonym you can think of, well I think that gets the message across, too. Only better.

So basically, what I said in my long, long-lost post was, "Stopitstopitstopit." Let the admins make those tough calls. I learned pretty fast that Political is "Enter At Your Own Risk." ( I figured out the lay of the land there. My daggone Libra thing must make me weigh both sides and that just did not work for me there.) -- But I digress.

The point is, I do not want to see the rest of this place turn into "Enter At Your Own Risk."

(And I just now looked at the Preview of this. And it told me I could only cuss 4 times and not 6. :cus: -- And the first one I wrote was a lot better.

Oh Gracie, about that hubris thing, that having excessive pride or confidence. It'll get me every time. I was way too proud of the first post I wrote. I thought it was oh so perfect. Remember those stories from mythology? Like the one about the guy who flew too close to the sun and he crashed and burned. In those old stories, if those mortals got carried away with their own wonderfulness, (Is that a word?) they always fell and fell hard. I was thinking my first post was so wonderful. I was guilty of hubris. Ah. . .for one brief, shining moment. . . in my mind.

Jan, Tony, DK....

Like the cicadas, we seem to go through these periodic cycles where some simple issue/statement/forum topic takes on a life of its own and turns ugly. The admins have the duty and the right to intervene when they feel things are getting out of control or too un-civil. It's never an easy call and will always end up ticking off someone, but, we'll get over it and move past it.

TOTV is a wonderful resource and meeting place. For old timers, newbies, and wannabes it is a tremendous source of information. It is a great way to meet people in your new hometown before you ever get here. And, great people they are. We live in a beautiful, wonderful community. We have much to be thankful for in TV and TOTV. Think before you post and sometimes think again before you decide whether a topic is even worth posting a negative reply. Often times it's better just to let it slide and remain silent.

To our admins, thank you so much for this wonderful site and all the work and soul you invest in it. Like the angst with the new version (which has now died down) these flareups will come and go. Please know that the vast majority of forum members really enjoy this site and appreciate your efforts.

Just wanted to add my thanks to you 3 admins. Without this site I would never have made all the wonderful lifelong friends I have. Especially in such a short time. We've been here less than a year and we have found people we truly love spending time with. The cruise was wonderful too!

I know you put up with a lot (moi?) but I'll forever be grateful for the friendships I've made here because of you. Thank you. Sincerely, chels

Thank you Administrators! You all do a great job! I love this site!

I love TOTV and I think y'all do a wonderful JOB. You have to put up with a lot of different personalities, likes and dislikes, but don't let them discourage you.

If people don't like what has been written don't read it. That simple! I don't agree with everything I read, that is my opinion only and the other person is entitled to theirs. We should all remember we are adults and treat each other with respect.

I know that you as the administrators put a lot of effort and time into this wonderful Forum and I for one appreciate it. It took me awhile to acquaint myself with the new format but I like it.

You as administrators have to make a lot of hard decisions and I for one would not like to have that job.

This is such a great place to learn, meet people, and chat I don't know what I would do without it everyday.

Jan, thanks for your post, which gently guided us back to realizing how blessed we are to have this site available to us.

It was fascinating to get some insight into the life of an Admin and the mounds of mail that you receive. I really had no idea of the extent of the effort you all expend.

I know we must seem like a bunch of bratty school-yard kids at times, in need of a referee at recess time. And I'm sure we all appreciate your patience.

We really are grateful for the time and resources the admins devote to this wonderful site. :clap2:

For what it is worth. I have I have been caught up in this "thanks so much for the Admins and the job they do" and "without the Admins I would be lost without TOTV". I was on that train many times in the past year. But what bothers me, the Admins do something in my estimation, wrong, and they still get all the kudos. Brightspot should not have been singled out for taking a thread in the wrong direction. It was the other poster that instigated the post and took it in the wrong direction and she got away with it completely. We all know who she was and is and it will not sit right with us until this is resolved. The Admins seem to scold us and then put us on a guilt trip and we all fall at their feet and tell them how wonderful they are. Well maybe they are great guys for managing this site, but right is right. Don't camouflage the truth and misconstrue the facts to protect an advertiser ( at least that is what I hear she is). That is not professional at any level. Brightspot you have had your off days but not this time. You did nothing wrong but you became the goat. No justice here. JohnnyM

Well said Johnny. You're right.

Villages Kahuna used to have a saying in his signature block that was something to the effect, "I hope my greatest problem is finding a donkey in the middle of the road."

Are we the lucky ones or what? We live in TV, have a great forum to communicate, and are enjoying a lifestyle not had by many.

I am just counting my blessings.

And to borrow Brightspot's signature quote (and it is a good one), " They won't always remember what you said but they will always remember how you made them feel."

We have much for which to be thankful.

Cassie. I read your blog and posted too. I am sorry you were hurt. It is too bad that you focused on people jumping on you because you asked for help for your friends moving. That wasn't it at all. I have said this to my children, so many times.

Look around you. What do you see? Do you see other people your age hanging out here?

And something that I heard from my much loved Uncle Ernie.

YOU CAN'T LEARN ANY YOUNGER.

Don't be sad Cassie. Find friends who will comfort you. I will be your older friend. BUT it is not the same as hanging out with people who are experiencing life at the same age. You are the mother of a little girl. You need a support group of friends who have little ones the same age.

Blessings and comfort and wisdom to you little Cassie.

You know, chatters talk might be a great place to ask for non-essential help like tkret/cassie asked for. Obviously you would have to bribe many of us to get us to do work for someone that has all their working arms, legs and backs.
If you think it would get buried in this thread, start a new one. Nothing prevents anyone from doing a shoutout on TOTV. Hey, anyone wanna come over and pull weeds out of my flower beds?

Please either send me an email or post on this thread.

Thank you for this post Sam...I am sure that is a good idea...but I did want to make clear that tkret had nothing to do with my request. We had a conversation about his move....I had the idea and posted...he is the one that ultimately pulled the plug on the idea as he was worried...he still may be interested in providing beer and pizza....I don't think he mind us asking for that.....huh tkret? Kathie wants her beer and pizza...I will have wine... :icon_wink:

As for your weeds....I will help....only if you point out which are weeds and which are not....otherwise you may be upset ending up with all of your good stuff in the rubbage.... A green thumb is something I do not have....

Pizza and beer (and some cheap rot-gut wine) sounds like a plan so long as we can put this behind us. As I have stated in previous threads I have used www.emove.com in the past for loaders and unloaders and they have never let me down ... will do so again.

I'm being taken to woodshed in another thread ("Not Much Activity"). I don't know how I've sunk so low so quickly. I fear that, if I give out my arrival date, the Neighborhood Watch will forbid my entrance. "If it don't fit, you must acquit".

You are moving to TV.

Trust me, your arrival date is already known.

Oh, and I see you are a man in uniform, too. Look out.

One of my favorite television shows was "Coach." If you have ever watched it, you know about Luther. There is an episode where Luther moves to a retirement community. If you can find that somewhere, you really should watch it.

Congratulations on getting started on this new part of your life. Keep us posted, here. (sigh) You probably won't have time though.

Sweetie is in Jeckyl Island playing 36 holes of golf a day with his buddies from Columbus, Ohio. He has the car and Helene and I have ventured out in the golf cart. Feeling more independent with it. My friend and her husband arrive today for a life style visit. Changed the kitty litter again, and it is a problem. Thinking of having an exhaust fan put in the bedroom linen closet where we keep it. Has anyone done that? We change the litter every day and it is still stinky.

For some reason last nights posts on TOTV made me feel down.

Oh GG,

Don't worry. Be happy.

There was sleet for a little while last night in Cincinnati. And today it is colder than a witch's you-know-what and gray, gray, gray out there.

So go out and bask in the sunshine that I bet you have today. There is no sunshine in Cincinnati right now.

-------------------------------------------------------------

GG, perhaps you should put the litter box somewhere with a little ventilation .. indoor laundry room perhaps, or guest bedroom? I would think a stinky litter box in the linen closet would mean stinky sheets and towels. :faint:

I assume you are using a good kind of clumping litter. I keep Snert's litter box in a bedroom, use a good clumping litter, and clean it twice a day. There is never an odour.

Fireboy is back in Canada right now. If you and Helene need a drive somewhere while Sweetie is away, just let me know.

Sure it counts or go find a neighbor. Mine just walked in and I :evil6: unloaded and thanked them for listening to me vent. Do I feel better? Not really. We're soooo ready to get out of KY and get to TV. Look later this week for NEW virtual tour. I gave strict instructions to our Realtor "Don't you die on me"!!! Yeah, previous agent had the big one. I hope he's selling the hell outa the pearly gated units.

To TV friends we've made - keep the faith. We'll get there eventually. Nazi dogs, Prancer, Katrina, all need a playmate. Not to mention PIA.

Boomer that I am, I have friends who are entering the 60's. Their own 60's. The ones that seemed so far away back in the other 60's.

Have you ever tried to find a birthday card specifically for birthday number 60?

Every single one I could find was all sappy and respectful and dignified. Like I would be sending it to some wizened sage of the tribe or something. They were just awful. Most of them were in shades of purple with various flower arrangements all over them.

The ones for turning 50 were just fine. (I thought about buying one of those and converting the 5.) But what's with the ones for turning 60? Have those people who design cards ever met any real 60 year-olds?

So anyway, I found a card finally. But it did not have an age on it. It was just one of those generally smart alecky cards that women like to send to other women. So I wrote a little note on it about b'day number 60. But while I was writing the note, I nearly ruined the card and had to pen a little apology for making a mess of it. I did not have my bifocals on and I wrote part of what I was saying completely off the edge of the card.

This is so not fair.

Had an appropriate card been available I would not have needed my bifocals. (which I could not find at the time, but later noticed, when I looked in a mirror, that I had propped them up on top of my head.)

Oh, and I forgot to mail the card today.

Is it me or does it seem that membership has dropped from 6 months ago? Also, it seems to me, that this site's daily activity has drastically decreased.

We used to be able to see the stats with the old format but can't anymore with this new format. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a graphical display showing the number of daily posts over the past 6 months? Or am I the only one wondering?

Bare....the 52 guests may indeed be members that are just not signed in....I sometimes will just hop on the site without logging in and read a few things before heading out the door. If I log in....I find I need to respond to every post....and we all know how that ends up!! LOL

Anyway...my other thought is that perhaps people (like me) leave their computers on...with a window open to TOTV and are not even home or at the computer. I don't know if there is a time frame where a guest is not counted anymore...but I know I leave the window open on TOTV even after I have logged out....my guess is that I am counted as a guest even when I am not near the computer.

Just a thought...and a guess!!

Hi, to find out the true numbers of anyone on TOTV at any time; 1 Click on Quick Links, 2. Click on Who's online 3. check the time you are clocked in at, and then check the time that other people who are "on line" have by their name.

What you will notice, or at least I have, that there can be an hour difference. I personally do not think one person would be on one thread for an hour. You can also check the other times that people have by their names, see the thread and also get an idea if they are on line or not.

Sid has been in bed with me and yet if you did search for people "on line" you would see his name.

Bright, I agree. I would also like to see those stats again. I found them interesting.
