Someone suggested we start this thread. Maybe we already have happy talk in the feminine forum, but another thread that can be hijacked at will won't be a bad thing. So have at it.
Chat, hijack, laugh. ;D :welcome:

We will be there at Crispers and being the newbies, we are trying to do everything right. NONE of us brought a red anything to wear, and we are all a decided shade of blue, just tried eating lunch on the screen porch and and my roast beef sandwich just about blew off my plate. I think it may snow.

My spouse, AKA Sweetie is out on the Palmer wearing everything he owns. Do you have those great big dogs with the casks?

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the invite.

Sometimes it is just plain fun to have somewhere with a lot of things going on all at once.

I am goofing off, waiting for Mr. Boomer to finish mowing so we can run away together.

I had planned to work in the yard, but Spring just can't make up her mind whether she is here to stay or not. Usually by now, I have been able to do my Red Queen Routine and run out into the yard with the pruning shears while I shout, "Off With Their Heads," and go after the Knockout roses. It is just too cold out there -- still.

But at least the grass is now officially green. And Mr. B can be out there with his beloved ZTR. It is just like that commercial that is running on television right now with the guys all firing up their mowers. We all live on acre lots so they ride usually.

Sometimes Mr. Boomer mows for the neighbors, too, just for fun, and it always makes them happy when they get home from work to find a perfectly mowed yard. They all still work. We are the only geezers. The early retirees. The slackers. But our younger neighbors have said that they will watch out for our house when we finally get to spend some time in Florida. So it all works out.

Mr. Boomer loves to mow grass. I don't even know how. So that is happy talk, too.

So there's my contribution for the Happy Hijacker. Thanks.

Enjoy your day out there in TOTVland.

Boomer

My significant other is my dog Sport. He would probably get a little bored with the talk at TOTV as it would not be about how other dogs' butts smell and whether or not he has missed marking such and such a spot as his territory. :joke:

Thanks Sam, another great idea for our TOTV chatfolk. BTW, we had two perspective buyers here today. One we knew was coming as we were called yesterday; the other called this morning from a different realtor to say they too wanted to see the house . They missed each other by minutes. It seemed they both liked what they had seen. Barbara and I later ran into the real estate agent at Genuardi's who brought one of the couples to our home. She said they liked our house the best, but who knows. At least they are coming out to look now. So all of you "hope to sell our house soon" people hang on. Thanks again Sam for a post where we can vent and share.....Johnny

Fingers are tightly crossed for you J&B. You belong in TV.

Sam I am so glad you put up this thread. I have a really hard time with the lineal thinking required to stay on topic...I guess I get bored quickly, besides the topic lasts longer when we can vary the content. Example Girl Talk, it is still going and I bet this one will too.

I'm happy tonight because my daughter only has a kidney infection and not appendicitis as the hospital thought at 5am this morning. She's spending the night there but that's okay. She's being waited on hand and foot, having her dinner served to her in bed, and getting some rest with the help of morphine.

She's coming home tomorrow but I took the rest of the week off from school. Why? So I could watch her 2 little boys (ages 2 and almost 4) and spoil them rotten while they are here at Tamma and Bubba's (that's what they call us) house. We decided to let her go home to a quiet house without having to worry about taking care of the little sweethearts. Not sure if her husband will wait on her like the nurses at the hospital, though!

Well, better get back downstairs. I hear the boys "fighting" over toys and I think Bubba needs my help.

From no small about of research, I have learned the secret to that phenomenon of which Taltarzac speaks, dogs smelling each others butts.

It is a dog's way of determining what meal the other dog has enjoyed. It's like asking, "Hey! How's the food over at your place."

Perhaps it would help to think of it as our equivalent to a restaurant review.

Speaking of dog butt smelling, our neighbor's dog recently smelled my husband's butt, then mine. Our neighbor said its just his doggie way of saying "hello". That made us feel pretty special!

I have a couple of folks on the way over to look at the house. I was playing tennis (70 today in NJ) all morning and missed the cell phone call. Came home and heard the message. Called and the realtor said they would be here in thirty minutes. Barbara had tickets to The View in NYC from her daughter. She left 6am, but she left everything in order. Just had to make the bed. Lot's more people out and around looking at homes. That's a positive sign.

Thanks Sam for the chance to get excited about cleaning the house. Boy I love this thread. Johnny......................... (I'd better go vacuum) ;)

Wonderful topic Sam, thankyou for starting it!

OK, I am really sad. I have spent 3 incredible, happy, fun months in TV. I must admit it seems more like only 3 weeks. The time has gone by way too fast and the thought of leaving is tearing me up.

I know Ill be back, not sure when ,but I am in total amazement at the wonderful, terrific people I have met in just this short time. Frienships that I will treasure forever.

Im not one to complain, especially in a public forum like this but damn Im sad!!!

For the first time since I was a little kid, I feel like Im home again.
A HUGE thankyou to everyone who made me feel so welcome here, you know who you are, and I am so grateful for your friendship. :'(

Samhass I have the best of both worlds. Here in Michigan my 2 grands live 8 miles away. In Florida, my other grand lives 11 miles away.

I've had the 2 and 3 1/2 year olds for 24 hours now...another 24 to go but more likely 48. My daughter came home from the hospital today but called crying because of all the pain she was in. I'm so glad we can help her by watching the boys so she can rest and get well again.

After the boys go home, I'm going to need my rest! Whew, are they an active pair!

Sniff. The idea of you guys not being here is just so sad. I keep trying to convince myself Donna is still here and I'll be seeing her at Crisper's. Ditto the Bucket and Sid. The idea of Nonie leaving is just unbearable. You guys have got to find a way to be here permanently.

Bright, so sorry about your daughter. UTIs are so dang nasty and painful. Hope she feels better soon and glad you're having with your grandboys. "Tamma" is such a cute name. I love it!

Johnny, your house will sell very, very soon. I just know it will and everyone knows a wrong witch is not a happy witch and an unhappy witch is not someone to muck with.

On Tuesday the 29th Linda B and I will be on the Cane Garden patio (assuming the weather's nice) enjoying a lunch at 1:00. We have a pickleball lesson at 10:00 that same day so don't judge our tired appearance!

If you'd like to stop by and let me buy you a cool drink or something please do so. You know what i look like from my avatars - just squint real hard and think Billy Bob Thorton.

Hi all. I got a great deal on yet more palms from the nursery at the back of Market of Marion.

Hi Sam,

Please let me know if the Confederate Jasmine has a mild or strong scent. I was told that it is the best Jasmine to buy - flowers longest and has a beautiful scent. Want to see if we can get approval for an arbor to put vining plants on that flower.

We have one Knockout Rose and want to get more. It had beautiful flowers on it.

Looking forward to seeing what you bought.

Happy planting and harvesting.

TOTV Sistah's pic brings back the wonderful day Mr. Bright and I spent with Susan and Tom in Mt. Dora on Susan's birthday. She and I spent more time visiting ladies shops to try on hats and model them than anything else. Our husbands were so very patient with us.

In one store we got a little carried away with the modeling. It was a shop that sold new clothes that were designed with the vintage look. And the hats in there were marvelous...reminded me of the Kentucky Derby. We just had to get the camera out and take picture after picture of us wearing many different hats. Promptly, we were told by the manager that pictures weren't allowed in the store. Oh my, I hope that's as serious of trouble Susan and I get into...but I have my doubts.

Anyway, I think every woman should own one beautiful hat. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh96/renielarson/36_15_571.gif Next time I'm in Mt. Dora, a fancy hat will be first on my must buy list.

Hi, I will take the blue. One of my favorite colors. Chels I agree with you about red for Barefoot, that is her color.

I guess that is why I have so many blue or denim skirts.

Wherever we go, it seems I am always carrying a bag or two. I have the largest Ameribag made - when we travel it has weighed over thirty pounds. Since it is a pocket book I am not questioned about it. Fortunately.

We (husband Stan and son Mark) are heading to TV, but won't arrive till May 18th. and then leave June 8th to start making our way back to Canada. Hoping another luncheon or get together can be arranged while we are there. I know Paul & Marcia (PM10) will also be in TV, I believe, the same time as us. We will not have access to a computer and hope a date can be set before we leave. We are not computer savy, but hopefully will be able to check at the computer club in TV if we have not heard anything before we leave.

JoanneP I am sure you mentioned that you live in Liberty Park - this is where our rental home is on Mount Vernon St. Will you be there when we are??

Thanks. Donna

Yes, Donna, we will be in TV the week of Memorial Day. It would be so much fun to get together. When it gets a little closer, lets try to plan something. Maybe more TOTV'ers could join us for a fun lunch!

Kathie - Lucky you! you're there!!!!!

Sam - thanks for mentioning the trees/bushes/flowers you bought. I'm trying to keep a list of names of some good plants/trees, so I'll have some ideas to look for, when we're doing some landscaping. (I realize I'm being so premature about things like landscaping, etc - being we're not going to be moving to TV until next year.) But I can dream, right??

Had cartoons running on 2 televisions (to keep my grandsons occupied no matter what room they were in) when a loud ruckus caught my attention outside.

It was a flock of bluejays.

As I looked out my kitchen window there was a chicken hawk with a jay in it's clutches and flying towards the "natural" area of our yard. The hawk settled in the midst of our pine trees holding tight to its prey.

About 100 other bluejays settled into the trees and loudly screeched while they swooped downward and around continuously.

I've never heard anything like this before, witnessed a hawk capturing its prey, or birds trying to protect its own.

What a sight...needless to say...the bluejay lost.

Nonie I feel your pain about leaving. I think there must be something in the water in TV...adults just don't make such fast and close friendships in so little time as you do in TV. Marcia, when those dreams start becoming closer to being a reality, you are gonna feel like your in heaven. I know cause that's how I'm feeling. I told everyone last night that when I turned the corner onto Morse from 466, I screamed "I'm Home!!" What a great feeling and when we're all there, it will be more wonderful than we can ever imagine.

Yes, I am lucky, I just love it here and am having a wonderful time with all my sistahs. If I'm back at the end of May, and I don't have any plans right now for that, we'll make sure we have a special party for you and Donna. See ya guys, soon I hope.

Barbara had tickets to The View in NYC.

Johnny, OMG, Barbara had tickets to The View??? My favourite program. I want to fly to NY with a friend from Canada, but tickets are so hard to get. Can you ask her to do a post on this thread ... describing what it was like attending a live show.

For those of you who aren't retired yet, The View is on at 11 AM, a panel show for women.
They discuss hot topics, have guests and it is often entertaining.

JohnnyM
04-18-2008, 04:30 AM
Hi Barefoot, Barbara is not a computer person, yet. I think I explained a while back that she taught kindergarten for some 35 years and never used a computer while doing so. She never was around computers as other professions might require. She enjoys sitting with me and reading the posts but would rather curl up with a book then be on the computer. I am working on her. She asked me to tell you about her experience. About 10:20am everyone was seated and given a breakfast bar and some juice. (unlike Oprah where you got a new car). A stand up comedian then comes out and warms up the audience. The set is much smaller that it appears on television and the crowd is only about 120 people. She said Barbara Walters looks very, very thin. During the breaks you are allowed to ask any questions to the panel. Make up artists also appear during the breaks and freshen up the ladies make up. The show is mostly spontaneous. There are a few set changes during the breaks. One at the table and another with a couch when the guest segment is on. BTW, the guest for the show was a porno star. They were seated in the top row so they could not see that well but enjoyed the experience. Well that's about the whole story. We hope to meet you when you and Mr. Barefoot return to TV. Stay well, Johnny & Barbara

04-18-2008, 02:11 PM
Johnny, thanks so much for taking the time to tell me about Barbara's experience at The View. I just watched that particular show yesterday. Too bad they didn't have better guests. It is interesting that guests get to ask questions of the panel during commercials, I didn't realize that. It would be cool.

How did she like Samantha (from Sex and the City)? She sure looked different with dark hair. I thought the porno queen who is transitioning into movie stardom by doing a movie called "Zombie Strippers" was really lame!! ;D I think she has a real stretch to transition into anything!

So now my secret is out, I spend an hour every morning watching The View. Don't tell anyone, OK?

JohnnyM

I bought a neat plant yesterday at the log cabin place in the back of Market of Marion.
It's called a "Monkey Cup". It's a carnivorous pitcher plant with long cups hanging from it. The cups (allegedly) fill with water and the monkeys drink the water from the cups.
I filled the cups half full of water. I haven't attracted any monkeys yet, but I really like the plant. ;)

They say the housing market is picking up. I heard that in the next 18 months there will be a 500K nationwide home shortfall in new construction. Maybe this will help Johnny and Barbara.

Boy Sam, I hope you're right. The sooner we sell, the better I'll feel. We'll be headed right for TV. Until then, Hubby (Nick) and I have agreed to visit a few times during the year and rent.

Isn't polygamy where men get to have multiple wives and the women get to wear ugly clothes and cook and have babies? That wasn't quite what I had in mind. :barf:

The cruise is a stretch for us also. We will have to fly in/out from Canada which seems ridic for just four days. Also Fireboy is having trouble finding another Fire Captain to work for him. But I think it would be fun, so haven't ruled it out. ;D

Yes, Susan and all others, you heard me right. I am an A1, topnotch caterer (never done it before but I know I can, I know I can, I know I can...chug, chug, chug) and can put on a spread that will knock you all off your feet (fungus tends to do that to people).

As one of the Brides I have to express concern over the choices that one of our dear friends seems to be making for us, (and for herself).

Bright, it has already been established that your taste in food is truly disgusting. Fungus, plastic meatballs, who knows what else....and I am not sure I want to know. Thank goodness Mr. B. does most of the cooking.

The taste of food is important to me, however, you have crossed the line with those clothes. You are no longer our Wedding Planner. When you said you might like to add some long skirts to your closet (where you house all but 2 of the skorts sold in this country), I had no idea you were so far out of your comfort zone.

I don't envy you painting Susan. I'm not a painter and give that job to Mr. Bright. However, Mr. Bright isn't real keen on painting anymore but does it under duress.

Anyway, I don't look good covered with paint smears all over my face, arms, and clothes. Home improvement shows on t.v. amaze me as I watch the painters complete a whole room with nary a drop of paint on their bodies. Wonder if they have multiple sets of identical clothing just to make us think they are perfect painters or if they really are!

Choosing between painting and going to work....think I'd pick work but better yet...would rather go on a bike ride with Sam.

It is "unseasonably cold" here in Canada with frost expected tonight. Just watched everyone rocking on at LSL, and read Sammy's note about biking while smelling gardenias. Sob.

OK, so life isn't always fair and we don't always get what we want. >:( Regardless we should be happy every day, right?

Not me. I must have shoes or sandals on. I'm never barefoot outside on the lawn. There are to many pesticides/herbicides and biting critters. Additionally, there could be construction debris under the grass that could cut you. Lastly, I'm sort of phobic about dirt getting on my feet. I should probably see someone about that. ;D When I see people walk in public places with no shoes on, I cringe. People spit and do all sorts of nasty things in public areas.

Our Barefoot should have the barefoot avatar. Oh Canadian friend, I wish you could come home.

Susan sent me two choices for a barefoot avatar .. thanks so much! I'm tired of hugging John Travolta, he is pretty boring. As you can see, I tried to install the barefoot avatar and got "a day at the lake" instead. I'll keep trying.

Susan, help. I just tried to install the barefoot picture you sent me for my avatar. The feet are purple and the sand isn't sandy at all.

Shoot girl, I was mosing along reading different threads, checking in at the end of a long day, saw your colorful version of the barefoot picture and thought you had gotten really creative with it like Ronda does sometimes.
I have no idea how you could have done that by accident.
I think you should just reload it, try again. It is interesting, but it kind of looks like "barefoot love on acid"
I think I like it better au natural.

Susan, I see you are still whirling with the old paint can. I'm in for some rather intense gardening, myself.

Susan painting, Bright teaching, Nonie cleaning out her clutter, Barefoot raking leaves, Sammy cleaning out her gardens. What an industrious bunch we are. Now, let's reward ourselves, who wants an ice cream?

Banana nut ice cream sounds sooooo good right now. Or a hot fudge/hot caramel combo sundae. I could even go for a banana split. I'm hungry but not gonna give in to my temptations.... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Oh Susan....your post beat mine...now I want to jump in my car and drive to DQ! crap
