I just got back from Fresh Market. That's a new store for me. Here's what happened. I pick up a jar of something, looked at the brand name, didn't recognize TFM, looked at the price, mumbled something under my breath and put the jar back.
This happened 4 times in a row when I realized that I had been mumbling TFM, but not the acronym, after I read the price. So now I know what it stands for: The first word was Too and the last word was Much.
LOL! One time the item I was searching for was only available at Fresh Market, every other store was out ...and it was actually cheaper there...;)
I do like the store....don't generally do weekly shopping there, but do try to stop in once a month or so for the things that are special for us.

All kidding aside, it is a great store. Last week I bought the cod that was on sale and it was amazing. I am so tempted by all those breads. They are the best around. But they can be a little high on prices. I bought an 8 oz baby eggplant today which is pretty small and cost $3. [gulp]
But it will taste great later

Try their Tuesday specials. Can not beat price for chicken cutlets and chop meat.

Their meat is the best we've found in the area and it is reasonably priced.

I did on tuesday last week and you are right. I got the milk too for $2.99. But it's hard to walk past that bread and not buy 4 loafs.

Agree, If I want quality I go to Fresh Market. Look at Publix prices lately and you'll find Fresh Market isn't much more and sometimes a little less like on their deli meats and the quality of meat and baked goods is far and above Publix.

The Fresh Market is a specialty store - they have items that you wont find anywhere else. They have the best Meat (selection and quality) in the Villages and no one else has the nice Crusty bread that was remember from up north. The Bakery is awesome and the produce always fresh. Yes a bit pricey, but stick with the sale items and you wont be dissapointed...

Best sourdough bread here. Almost as good as Tadich's in SF (and that says a lot). Pricey but worth every penny.

Tomwed, you can sign up online to receive emails about TFM's weekly specials. Too bad they keep the bread back by the seafood & meat! Maybe a clothespin?

If you wish to start a club, here is a link to the guidelines and application forms

However, there are many food discussion groups already formed.

Love the quality of the meat and fish.
I don't buy too much produce there though ($$$).

Keep an eye out in the next week or so for their advertisement for pre order of fresh organic turkeys.
We bought 2 last year and they were excellent.

It's the closest thing we have to Whole Foods and carries many items, including produce, that can't be found anywhere else around TV. I for one are glad they are there when I want something other than cheddar, swiss, and gouda. Baby bok choy that you can saute in a pan? maybe they have that somewhere else. (Saw it at Ocala Saturday market).
I don't do my everyday shopping there, but I do go after their specials and their cheeses and pates, organic cream, produce not available elsewhwere and will be ordering my turkey. Glad we have many choices around here.

I stir fry the baby bok choy too. Try the baby eggplant. I need to revisit Brownwood square on saturday mornings. I know last year I bought some Asian veggies there. I want to learn about Latino veggies and roots and how they are prepared. I only went to Save A Lot one time but I saw veggies and fruits that are new to me, Any thoughts?

Lemme think. I'm out of town right now. I have used that big cilantro that they seem to have everywhere--put it in stir fries and added to salads. And I like the crunch of jicama (sp?) in salads.
Although not latino, the best ginger root I ever had came from the Waterfront Market in Key West (don't know if it's still there due to lease dispute), which is/was a smaller version of TFM. I think the difference was that it was extremely fresh.
I'll try the eggplant suggestion. Thanks!

Love Fresh Market. They are catering my Thanksgiving dinner and they are quite reasonable. Quality is better than quantity

I was at Fresh Market this morning shortly after they opened. There was a long line for the hamburger/chopped beef and their milk sale of the day was Almond Milk (don't like flavored milk). I purchased several items, including a Stollen - the Stollen was an excellent price, much below Yahala's, but more than Aldi's. However, checking out was a nightmare, only one cash register open until the Manager came and took over a cash register.
Their selection of high end items is excellent, but their management needs help. Publix is like a well oiled machine compared to FM ............

I ordered their fresh organic turkey on line this morning. You can specify day and time of pickup. The turkeys are $2.49 a pound.

Forgot this in my post ............. special on the next three Tuesdays, one cooked chicken with a TFM apple pie - all for $10.00. Now that is a GREAT deal. This week (today) next Tuesday and Tuesday following - three weeks. You cannot beat this offer - a decent chicken costs anywhere in the region of $6/7 and the apple pie purchased separately has to be $5 and up! All cooked and ready to put straight on the table.
