I have tried to refrain from complaining. Each time I offer an opinion, it seems to invite those sniper attacks. I an asking for some feedback on another issue. Is it me or has the Daily Sun lost it's direction the past few months ?? At one time I could spend nearly an hour reading items of interest but lately I find myself only scanning the Daily Sun looking for items of interest. For example, I offer some items in today's paper. Mouth to Mouth Kissing Transfers 80 Million Bacteria, A musement Parks Challenged By Home Entertainment, Old F 16s Make Good Bad Guys, 2 Penguins Chicks hatch At california Academy.Ghost Researchers Invade Old NJ Jail, Etc and Etc. Who in the world is choosing to publish these articles just behind the headline page??? There is a good chance I will not renew the Daily Sun but will most like choose another publication. Will any attackers please refain from replying, comments welcome.

The Daily Fun is a marketing tool And as such, a good one. Any resemblance to a real newspaper is coincidental.

I don't read The Sun for news. I read it for information about activities. For news I read The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Economist.

I agree...The Daily Sun has a new format. I think they gradually began the change maybe 2 months ago. Started 1st with the Local section now I think the whole paper has a new look. NOT sure that I care for it neither. I used to go to the Local section 1st, then I'd read the rest however it now leaves way too much to be desired IMHO.

The newspaper has a new owner. I'm not sure when this change took place, but it wasn't that long ago. I have a feeling the physical change in the paper's look, as well as its content, can directly be attributed to this change in ownership.

I'm sure one of TOTV's posters can contribute better information than I've given.

We subscribe to the Orlando Sun and find it to be what we think of as a real newspaper. Once in awhile there might be an article of local interest we'd like to see. If so, we borrow a neighbor's paper or go to the rec center to look at a copy. I've never felt comfortable contributing financially, no matter how small an amount, to the Daily Sun.

We take both the Orlando Sentinel and the Sun. I find that I read the Daily Sun first for local news and activities. I read the Sentinel for national news and the editorials - really enjoy Scott Maxwell. I like the new format of the Sun - it seems clean and organized and invites the reader.

I like Daily Sun for local activities etc. I think they do an over all job in keeping us informed with news that pertains to us "Villagers" Like the idea of waking up at 5am and see my paper in driveway. :)

I like the happy paper for entertainment, activities, restaurants, etc. Sometimes there will be an interesting story and feel good interesting stories of Villagers.

Most of my real news is read online.. The Daily Sun is a habit that is hard to break. I enjoy the advertisements in the Sun !!!!!

I noticed the same changes when we returned a few weeks ago. I think it is the realization that few people get their news from newspapers anymore and that the only way to survive is to concentrate on the local. You can see the same changes in local news casts. Watch the local news sports, there is no coverage of major leagues, just local teams.
Up until this year I taught a course at a local university in their MBA program. I had to stop asking my students if they saw a relevant article in the local paper because none of them read the local paper. The Daily Sun is just trying to stay relevant. As a wise politician said "All politics are local".

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the daily rate fifteen cents if you subscribe for the year?
Are you saying it's too expensive for what you get?

The only reason we subscribe to the Daily Sun is because the wife likes the coupons and store adds.

Same here... except I don't read the NY Times. The Daily Sun is good for local info and events.

I like the Daily Sun for it's reporting of "what's happening" around TV. It's a feel good type of newspaper that gets delivered at such a low cost. I also like that it is my driveway at 5:30 AM, (approximately).

If one feels the need for in-depth reporting of world events, I usually go to the internet to obtain balance reporting. The Daily Sun has a republican view of events, on their editorials.

Alright, to use a hackneyed phrase, it is what it is, and we all agree on what it is. Still, I admire the editors for their ability to develop great human interest stories. They must have a wide network of sources tipping them to captivating stories about people who live here and their curious experiences. You know the kind I mean: two guys standing in line at Happy Hour discover they shared a roll of toilet paper in a foxhole during WWII. True, however, some of those tales are a stretch, e.g., "NASA lands probe on a comet...Helen Broomduster, 79, dated one of Bill Haley's Comets." Hey, it's all infotainment in the mainstream media for the most part anyhow, so more's the fun.

I find it to be enjoyable. the major stories seem to be there....the same ones that the morning shows lead with. I also enjoy reading about activities and the ads. for me, it's so inexpensive and I just so enjoy sitting on the lanai reading it and watching the birds in my yard. priceless.

As someone said, "it is what it is". But, it has changed of late. It has gotten to the point where I only read the "A" section and Sports and even the "A" section is mostly stories plucked from the AP Wire which have little import or interest to me. It's also interesting that the "A" section has a few pages labeled "Local" that they apparently don't want to put in the "Local" section. And, that "Local" section is now just activity and club info....no news!!

I will continue to get the paper for info on events and access the internet for real news but lament the days when the first thing I wanted to do in the morning was read the paper.

You can pick up a copy for $.50 at your mail station. That way your neighbor will not have to save issues for you when you are looking for a particular item.

Most Daily Suns pile up in my garage waiting for recycling. I like the grocery ads in the Wednesday paper and the rec news in the Thursday one. But if I bought just those two every week it would cost as much as an annual subscription

My mainstays are the Economist and Wall Street Journal because they seem the least partisan, delve into details and explain the affect on persons, places and things( ie a good analysis)

The Daily sun fits my wife's needs as she likes to know what's going on locally, match names and faces, coupons, social events, housing market.

My reading helps me with our investments and her reading dealing with the household finances. I will confess that I do go the Lifestyle Section to read Mallard Filmore

:grumpy: ....here's my comment.... YEAH! IT'S YOU.

What you call the headline page is what most would call the "front page" or page one. EVERYTHING comes after that. The story about kissing was on page 5 (Marked - HEALTH) That's where I would put a story about Scientists
talking about bacteria.

Another story (Old F-16s) was on page 7 "STATE" news. It was a story about an Air Force Base in Florida (that's where we live) taking old planes out of the bone yard and giving them a new mission.

I have to ask.... what page did you want them on? My guess would be -
ANY PAGE BUT THE ONE THEY WERE ON!

THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK - JUST A COMMENT. Cancel the paper!

at 64 bucks per year it's hard to find fault....coupons included more than pay for it. It's sports section does stink (are we really in Fla?, almost no news of FSU, UF or UM) but that's what the internet is for. The news is all AP wire service. Thinking about an electronic subscription to the Sentinel which is one of Fla's better papers.

My neighbor recycles, so has the papers around for a week or so if I want to look at one, which is maybe once a year. But thank you for your concern.

I agree completely. Warren it's you. The paper is not free you have the option to buy it or not buy it. I'm pretty sure they are not going to change it for you. Those of us who enjoy our local paper buy it or in my case subscribe to it.

I and my wife think the Daily Sun is fine. Where we moved from the local paper came out twice a week, and when I first moved to The People's Republic of Maryland it was once a week. If you want more news there is the INTERNET and Fox News and Fox Business Channel for balanced coverage.

Newspapers are dying out, the Internet and the many Satelite News Channels have taken over. How many cities now have more than one daily paper? Had two in Philadelphia plus a tabloid when I was growing up plus a weekly local paper per neighborhood. Now only one rest gone.

This paper is a bargain and not a leftist paper as the other big city papers are, find it refreshing. Don't like it, start your own. A supermarket chain in SOMD did so. Was a free weekly. Free delivery by mail if you had their card, or picke up many places for free. Still get it in the mail here, a little late.

Hey Bavarian,
I remember the Inquirer and the Bulletin in Philadelphia. What was the tabloid?

Daily News. "Easy to hold fun to read". My Uncle while working as a linotype operator at the time, printed the first edition, per my mother. Belonged to then named Public Ledger now named Inquirer.

I used to deliver The Germantown Courier.

I heard The Bulletin tried to come back but seems gone.

Checked the editorial section for any change. Saw an Obama cartoon and a Michelle Malkin commentary. But no Ollie North. The rest of the paper looks the same also if not thinner paper stock.

Fridays are my favorite; there's the suto section, new movies, and I can still do the crossword (forget Saturday).

You missed the point entirely. What gave you the idea that it was about the cost. I was commenting about the content amd the recent change in format. The simple fact is that I find little of interest in the present Daily Sun.

It's sports section does stink (are we really in Fla?, almost no news of FSU, UF or UM) but that's what the internet is for.

I agree and has been a pet peeve of mine for so long. It gives good coverage of teams in the N.E. and mid west. I know they try to cater to those residents from that area, but those that moved here from other areas of Fla. are in the majority if I'm not mistaken. I especially am frustrated with college baseball when we have 3 of the best teams in the country here year after year and there isn't even a score listed, never mine an article. They would rather cover womens soccer or field hockey or whatever.

I'm sure the folks from the North and Midwest, or of women's soccer or field hockey or whatever would have the same gripe too if all of the coverage was of college baseball.

I find the sports page 3 to be useful when looking for scores that didn't make it elsewhere in the section.
