My trick is a gi-normous crockpot and comfort food.
recipe 1
ham, potato, carrot, onion, celery, cabbage, bay leave, garlic---cook low 6 hours
recipe 2
ham and bone leftover from recipe 1
overnight soak white beans, celery, carrot, onions, bay leaf, garlic cook 6 hours low
add pasta to the bowls
pasta and bean soup, pass the parm
recipe 3
chicken thighs browned after being dredged in flour, cooked bacon, carrots, celery, onions, fresh herbs [thyme], two kinds of mushrooms and don't skimp on the mushrooms, 1/2 merlot 1/2 stock half way up the pot.
6 hrs low
wide egg noodles on the side
chicken and wine
when anyone asks what can i bring, ask them to bring dessert or salad or appetizers
enjoy your day--you won't spend it cooking and cleaning

Easier yet.........just get a mail order delivery via UPS from Honey Baked Ham.
Great 8 lb. spiral sliced ham.........no baking.....just thaw.
Everyone LOVES Honey Baked Spiral Ham........any time of the year.
We've even taken them on vacations to rental homes at the beach to "have on hand" in the frig.
They also have a full roasted turkey........both the ham & the turkey are great for summer buffets.....for a crowd.
Or, for any holiday............or celebration.....when one is feeling lazy......or just wants convenience without the fuss.
They have great "sides".......or, prepare your own favorites to go with the ham, which is always tender.
The ham is great for sandwiches (with all the trimmings) on either nice artisan bread, hearty rye bread or for the "kids" KINGS HAWAIIAN SWEET SANDWICH BUNS........
HONEY BAKED HAM also has a spiral sliced turkey breast which is also tender........not the full roasted turkey mentioned above.
It comes with cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc., etc.
Plus, their HUGE cakes are excellent for any festive occasion.........
p.s. OURS ALWAYS COME FROM GEORGIA...........NEVER HAD A BAD HAM OR ANYTHING ELSE OUT OF THE GEORGIA FACILITY.
