The customer service of the staff is horrific as well there are many national brand products that they do not carry. I seem to have a problem with every visit. On more than one occassion I have found errors in product price that have been charged. I have written complaint letters to the company, but all I receive are an apology, never a recognition on their part as to the qualitative nature of the services and/or errors. I now prefer to do the majority of my grocery shopping at Publix and/or Wal-Mart. Winn-Dixie does not deserve our patronage.

I have had very good service at this store. I use card for discount on gas. I have a habit of checking my receipts often and have yet to find an error, especially with sale items. I find it a very nice store to shop in. That said it does not seem to have the volumn of business Publix has so some residents probably agree with you.

I don't shop there very often. And I buy what's on sale. Just about every time I need to get the price fixed on at least one item. I don't like to complain to the cashier because I know they are just scanning and charging accordingly. Now I need to take a paper and pencil to record the price on display and see if it matches up with the computer screen.

The cashiers know there is a problem too.

Publix at Colony has become a chore. Too busy and too crazy in the parking lot. I prefer WD.

We go to Publix in Colony even though it is further away. I too have complained about that WD store to corporate regarding wrong prices and being consistently out of advertised specials. I went to WD last weekend for convenience sake to pick up a few items - the store seemed really empty of customers.

I am usually over charged every time I go to the Winn Dixie near my home. I don't shop there anymore except for sale items like you do. I am tired of standing in the Long line at Customer Service with my receipt trying to get a refund....UGH.

At least at Publix when they over charge you, they refund all the $$ and give you the item free. It's called 'The Publix Promise'.

I watch the monitor as the charges are rung up, and check when I get home. Seldom have a problem. No more than at Publix.

I agree with the OP. I find Winn Dixie inadequate on many levels. On many occasions I would go there to avoid the mess at Publix in Colony. On almost every occasion I would go in for something specific and walk out frustrated, without the item(s) I went in for. There is not much choice when shopping for things. We do like to go there for their brand of club soda, which is significantly less expensive than Publix. Just the other day we went to pick up club soda and went to grab a cart sanitizer wipe and it was empty. As we were leaving, we told the ****** that there were no more wipes for the carts. She said " you will have to go tell someone at the customer service desk." I thought no way. There are about 5 people waiting in that line and and as far as I know I don't work here. Needless to say I didn't wait in line at customer service to do the job she should have done. In my opinion, the ****** gave very poor customer service. She should have offered to get that taken care of at her earliest convenience. When they changed this store from a Sweet Bay to Winn Dixie they made a mistake.

Never had a problem with Win-Dixie, Publix, Wal-Mart or others as we mix it up to find what we want since it's all in the same vicinity.

If see the shoppers coming out of winn-dixie, its really had to see a fill cart-in my observations -most people are using the store as a convenience store-their produce is horrible when compared to Publix, If you are concerned about the crowding @ Colony, go to the Traverse Plaza Publix--unless you are married to your golf cart

The new Publix is great

it's a supermarket, get over it, your best commentary is to not shop there if you don't like it,

All stores have the wrong price charged problem. Watch your receipt at any store on a regular basis and you will find out how many times you have been over charged. The store that I find overcharges the most is Walmart.
Any company is only as good as its employees. In todays society it is getting harder to find good employees. I worked in retail for 20 years before coming here and saw a steady decline in good employees.

The new Publix at Grand Traverse Plaza is a bit smaller than the Publix at Colony, but it's less crowded and you can get to it easily in a golf cart. Head over the multi-modal path west along 44-A, then through the tunnel under Powell Road. Continue past Alden Bungalows and take your next right to the end of the multi-modal path, then left into the Grand Traverse Plaza.

I agree me and my wife likes Public.
Winn Dixie is terrible in customer service and the warm food service people are very rude.
The store management doesn't get it.
when you have low traffic something must be wrong.
Management gets a complaint and they bury it.
Economics one o one, only a matter of time when the Mangers are cleaning house and they need to go as well.

We need a second strong store, or else Public levels of quality will fall.

I stopped going to the Pinellas WD as soon as Publix opened in Traverse plaza, because I was tired of the poor customer service and the attitude of their staff. I have yet to encounter any Publix employee at the Traverse store that is not friendly, even the folks stocking the shelves usually say hello, and everyone there is more than happy to help you find something.

I found WD to be ok. I use both WD and Publix. Each have products that I enjoy, case in point, WD gourmet CC cookies. Lol.

Simple solution: Don't like it, don't shop there !!

Although I prefer the Publix market at Southern Trace for their variety and friendliness, I go to the Winn Dixie at LSL also. It is closer to me. Something or someone must have lit a fire under their butt. In the past month, the produce department has improved greatly. Now, some of their stuff might be better than what you find at Publix.

why the asterisks in the post?

I wondered about that also... but figured it out.
This site weeds out words they think are offensive, and the post referred to the person who bags the groceries as B A G G E R S . That's now used as an insult by persons of a particular political bent to say someone is gay. They deride people as gay while pretending to champion gay causes.
If a person leans toward the Tea Party the are "Tea b a g g e r s"... heh, heh, wink wink... isn't that clever? No? No.
No, this isn't political... just answering the question.

Use WD at Pinellas because of convenience and do not like the crowds at colony. Why shop at a place if it is going to put you in a bad mood because of the crowds. Have never had a problem with pricing and customer service at WD.

Agree. Colony parking lot is a disaster, and we don't go there so we won't accidentally run over somebody.

I've only had one negative experience with WD. Last week I asked one of the clerks if she knew what aisle the honey is on. She said, "No, ma'am." !!!!! If it wasn't so outrageous I would have been ticked.

We like WD at Pinellas and do most of our shopping there. There are only a few items they don't carry that we have to go to Publix in the Traverse Plaza for. But Publix doesn't have all the things we use, either.

A couple of times at Pinellas W-D, I have found myself stuck in a really slow checkout line with no alternative.....

But I always use slow grocery lines as time to read the The National Enquirer. One evening at Pinellas, the line was so slow that I had time to get those behind me interested in reading the tabloids along with me.

We got all caught up on Queen Elizabeth and her crew. And who had gained a bunch of weight and/or had botched plastic surgery. And who was zoomin' who. -- I think that should be whom -- objective case pronoun, direct object of the verb. -- Oh well, anyway, my line had a good time. In fact, a nice woman behind me said she hoped the next time she got stuck in a line, it would be with me. I treasure that remark. :)

I do that too. They're a riot.

When it's slow on the golf course, I carry a camera and shoot pictures of birds and nature. I was corrected once and told I should either shoot pictures or play golf, not both.

If I know I'm going to be stuck for hours on the road or in a waiting room I have something downloaded, a book or podcast, to the phone that I will enjoy.

It just takes a little planning or creativity.

There's really no need to go to Colony, five minutes past Winn Dixie down Powell Road is the Publix at Traverse Center. We usually go there because it's more organized, has all the brands and we like the Boars Head meat at the deli counter. Sometimes we'll stop at Pinellas WD on the way back because they have a salad bar.

We shop the sales between Winn Dixie and Publix. For example, WD sells Morningstar vegetarian products for 3/$10 about once every six weeks. These items are close to $5 each when not on sale at WD and Publix. We watch the WD 3-day ads as well as the weekly ads. We go when the sales are good. Short golf cart ride so it's more if a fun trip than an errand.

I buy wine every week and am familiar with prices. When Winn Dixie runs an ad their sale price is usually more than Publix's regular price.

I don't like any of the stores, I find faults in all of them, but got to eat. As far poor customer service? Dealing with grumpy old people all day soon becomes drag winning over 15 cents. IMO we should be thankful we have as many stores as we do.:beer3:
