There are so many resales on the market, hubby and I are wondering why people choose to move. If you have moved or are considering moving, why have you or are you? Change in life circumstance, privacy issue, lot issue, neighbor issue, house to big/small or other? Just curious

We built here in 2000 in Santiago which was the last Village. In 2003, we wanted a bigger house. The pricing for resales was ridiculously high. I would have also had to spend money to makes changes I like on top of the high price so we built and moved to BonnyBrook in 2004.

We are maybe a bit unusual in that we have purchased 5 homes in TV but currently just own one. This in nine years. Of the five only one was a resale. Our Experence is generally resales are overpriced in TV.
The reason for purchase/selling: Angel loves to decorate and she is real good at it and I enjoy real estate as a challenge and investment. We have bought and sold several homes over the years.

We look at things the same way I think. We have bought and sold many times in our life and only bought two resales. We like the adventure of a new home and new location and homes if priced correctly and staged right are very easy to sell here and the moving costs are much lower than in the northern part of the country. We are on our second home in TV, but who knows if it will be the last, we are only in our seventies

I plan on moving after October (that is when I will have fulfilled the two years residency to exclude capital gains tax). I am moving North to get back in the South.

My reference to North was a directional one.
My reference to South was a cultural one.

Although a Yankee, I have lived in 5 Southern States. Have enjoyed all of them, and their people, food, customs, and cultures. My favorite state to have lived in is Mississippi where we spent 7 years.

I haven't lived in any other Southern State but Florida, but find my Ohio manners and ethics fit well with the Southern people that I know well. I don't blame you for enjoying living in the South. I find most Southern people are warm, hospitable, gracious and very charming.

2 bedroom 1 1/2 car garage, then 3 bedroom with 2 car garage. Now 3 bedroom with 2 car garage and golf cart garage. See where we were going. Bigger garage

Your Ohio manners fit graciously everywhere but especially well in the South. I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but Cincinatti is one of our favorite cities...and the Medical Center is a fabulous healthcare resource.

Get out of TV, into the rural area surrounding TV, and you will discover how much Florida is in the SOUTH. There isn't a more Confederate minded soul, in the whole of the south, than an original Florida CRACKER.

My reference to Southern Culture wasn't about the Confederacy or the redneck contingency....which can be found in all fifty states, therefore, I reject your reality and substitute my own.
Florida is to the South as the Lighthouse at Lake Sumter is to marine navigation.

We love the 736 square foot manufactured home that we are now in, but some things happened with some investments that freed up some money and I was able to purchase one of the new cottage homes that they are building in my neighborhood. I'm moving about 1/4 mile from where I am now. I love my neighbors and neighborhood so I'm glad I didn't have to go to Pine Crest and have to get used to a new area and leave the friends that I have made in this area.

Our house is up for sale now, we are looking at going further south (somewhere between Ormond Beach and Sebastian). Our daughters are on that side of FLA. Plus we are used to having a much larger yard. Would like a little more land. But love this actual house!!!

not true. North Florida is very southern (the old joke was Jax is the second largest city in Ga.). The maxim for Fla is the farther south (direction) you go the farther North (cultural) you go.

I moved from my first house when a place across the street from my sister came on the market.

I moved here from Alaska, bought a nice Lily designer home, met my guy across the street, moved in with him, got married, rented "my" house, then we decided to consolidate and sold both homes and now have "ours". In 2.5 years I have moved 3 times within The Villages, not doing it again for a long, long, time (I hope). Circumstances arose that I never in my life thought would happen, getting married again especially. Its crazy what happened but so happy!

We moved into our third home in TV for reasons that involved more space for our hot tub, less grass to maintain, and suitability for our two cAts.....it works for us....also in the end, to move into a new home versus resale to find a few features we wanted.
