Bucco, my friend, highjacking for just a moment...what forum are you going to post in after the election? Just worried you won't have any more to say for a few months.....no matter who wins...
We had best find you a new topic....I hate to not see you on here!! Whether we agree or not....:icon_wink:
OK...back to Joe and Jane....they are indeed strong American workers...let's just hope they still have a job....

unemployment numbers only....the chances Joe the plumber still will have a job are significantly better than not. At the current "massive increase" in unemployment more than 90% still have jobs.
I know it is one of those numbers that media and partisans don't like to hear, but it is a fact!!! I understand it would be different if one were part of the 5% unemployed, however that does not change the fact that over 90% still are at work!

Cassie, I think whether we agree or dont agree that the only thing I have discussed on this board was the idealogy and training received by Sen Obama and because of that I oppose his election especially with Pelosi and Reid there to assist and no opposition at all !
In that vein I have tried to bring up what I thought were important facts and in some cases was dismissed or engaged in lively discussion.
This morning already on posts I have been called a racist and somewhat less smart than...I suppose an Obama supporter.....thus to respond to your question about posting...this is my last post on here. I have been engaged in politics for many years not just as an observer but as an active participant and it has been for BOTH parties and never had this racist hate thing attached to any disagreement I seem to have nor have I ever been called less than average intellegence as I have on this board, both on here and in pms.
I wish you well !!!

...and he was still "infuriated" by it, then that would suggest that Joe has annual income of more than $250,000 per year. That puts him in the top 4% of income earners in the U.S. That is the only group of taxpayers who would pay more under the Obama plan.
I know everyone wants to think of Joe as a guy in a dirty t-shirt pulling on a pipe-wrench. But in fact Joe must be making a lot more money than 95% of Americans. He can be infuriated, but he's one of the people who has benefited the most from the tax reductions of the last eight years that have been so heavily tilted to the wealthy.

Kahuna, that is the craziest plan isn't it? 4% of the income earners, including those with the tenacity and guts to run a small business, will pay ALL the tax increases to cover the HUGE deficit garnered by a the Democratic Congress in the past 8 years. Joe Plumber should just lay on the bottom with rest of the country and feed, I surely wouldn't start a small business. I think we should all sit back and wait for those refunds from Mr. Obama, is anybody listening to what he is proposing? We will ALL pay in spades.

Basically, what the Obama tax plan does is to reverse the tilt of tax benefits for the wealthiest Americans which occurred under the tax reductions enacted during the first six years of the Bush administration. Under Obama's plan those that benefitted by the more generous reductions won't be paying any more than they were before the Bush tax reductions were enacted.
People argue that the Obama plan is "income redistribution". I suppose maybe it is...back to the way it was before the current president, along with his party who controlled Congress for the first six years of his administration, changed the tax rates to a scale more beneficial to the wealthiest Americans.
I suppose one might even observe that it was the group that benefited the most that were more generous with their campaign contributions, if that might have had anything to do with the revised tax rates.
I might add the idea that neither candidate is making much sense proposing any kind of tax cuts. Here were are with a record national debt and a federal deficit that is likely to be a multiple of the highest recorded in history and the two candidates are telling the electorate what we always want to hear--they're going to cut our taxes. If we're ever going to balance the federal budget and begin to reduce the national debt, there are probably two things that both candidates should admit are probably necessary...
INCREASE TAX REVENUES
DRAMATICALLY CUT FEDERAL SPENDING
With out those two things happening, we live in a country headed for an even greater financial disater than we've experienced in the last few weeks.

I figured out why Joe the Plumber is worried about higher taxes. It seems that Joe does not pay all the taxes he is suppose to pay even now. The Toledo Blade is reporting that Joe has an outstanding tax lien by the Ohio Department of Taxation for $1183 in personal property taxes that he has not paid. Also, he does not have a plumber's license in Ohio and his reported income from his divorce papers is $40,000. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, Joe.

So the point, Ohio, is to stay on the bottom and feed. Perhaps if Joe could make more money his bills would be paid. There is no incentive to do anything other than what he is doing now, greater benefits where he is at. Obama himself said he wanted to redistribute the wealth and that means if you make more than the next guy, part of what you make will subsidize him. No pretty words, no long dissertation... this is the bottom line folks without all the pretty. Government will saturate your every move, more and more and more government.

It does not sound like it was a good 15 minutes for Joe. It now turns out that the plumbing company that he works for (it is a 2 man operation) is not licensed to do plumbing work in Lucas County. So, not only is revealed that Joe is not licensed, but his buddy who owns the plumbing company that Joe hopes to own and earn more than $250,000 with also is not licensed. Poor Joe.

He should have made an appearance at an Obama rally. Barack's is the tax plan that would put a few more sheckles in Joe's pocket. Joe needs to pick the candidate who'll cut his taxes enough so that he can actually afford a plumber's license at least. See what happens when you listen to all those lies.

Now Joe won't have a job...won't have any money...and will despise McCain for bringing attention to him!!!

Joe was not at a McCain rally, he WAS at an Obama rally. Joe heard Obama say that if he made more than $250,000, he was going to raise his tax so Obama could "spread the wealth around". Sounds more like a Marxist rally to me.
Did you notice that the Obama campaign and the partisans are discrediting, demeaning and attacking old Joe the Plumber personally and not on the message he provoked from Obama. Defend the message, don't personally attack an American worker who dreams and aspires to business ownership and dares to ask Obama what his plan would mean for his future. Shame on those that attack Joe personally instead of on his question and more precisely Obama's answer.
Obama said he intends to take more taxes from hardworking business owners who earn more than $250,000 a year to "spread the wealth", his words. He refers to business owners, who created jobs, who built businesses through vision, hard work, personal risk taking and sacrifice. Business owners who pay their fair share of taxes already. Obama wants to tax their success even more, create further entitlement by "spreading " and handing out more of the fruits of their blood, sweat and tears to those less ambitious, creative and imaginative. Another, liberal "let's make everybody a homeowner" scheme. We know how that little big government gem ended up.
How discouraging for American entrepreneurship. Pursuing the American dream is becoming sitting back, collecting a check from the National Treasury and letting the government rob and plunder hardworking, ambitious, creative people so Washington can dole out crumbs to appease the masses and secure enough votes to keep themselves in comfortable offices, big pensions, big houses and incredible health insurance for life. You can see I am arguably, not a fan of big government, but open minded enough to hear from others who would like to defend it.
Obama's remarks, beg the question, who is going to decide the recipients of this tainted government transfer of wealth? How much more is going to go to who? Whose ox is going to get gored next? Oh, that's right, our efficient, fair government in the Capitol is going to be the dollee. I bet ACORN is at the top of the dole list.
"The Proletariat is the undertaker of capitalism."
Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev famously used an expression generally translated into English as "We will bury you!" while addressing Western ambassadors at a reception at the Polish embassy in Moscow on November 18, 1956.
On August 24, 1963, Khrushchev himself remarked in his speech in Yugoslavia, "I once said, 'We will bury you,' and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you," a reference to the Marxist saying, "The proletariat is the undertaker of capitalism"; a popular articulation of the materialist conception of history as the inevitable progression of class struggle towards communism. :cus:Interesting use of words. "tilt" The tax system already has the top 10% of earners paying 50% of the taxes. Seems to me that if there is a "tilt" it is already against the top 10%. "benefited" Wow, it must be a privilege to be benefited by paying the highest tax rate in the country.
"Income redistribution" So, first the top 10% were paying more than anyone else in the country, then that terrible Republican Congress cut their taxes back to a max 35%. How awful for everyone else that they don't pay 35% also. Let's see, first we were REALLY taxing them at the highest rate, then we were more "beneficial" to those rich people by only really (lower case denotes less) taxing them at 35%. We're "redistributing" the wealthy peoples money less than we use to, how awful.
I would hope that the people who have earned HIGH INCOME gave more to their respective campaigns. They have more to contribute after all. I'd hate to see people that BENEFIT from wealth redistribution have to part with their money for their candidate. What have they got to gain being on the receiving end, after all.

Surprise, surprise....the predictions of Joe the Plumber's ignoble demise after his 15 minutes of fame are belied by his continuing proliferation on the talk show and news circuit. I just watched him giving energy saving tips to the public followed by an interesting and insightful interview on the election. You might say he was almost Obamaesque in his "cool" style.
Joe is becoming his own cottage industry. He may not need that plumbing license after all. Elitists who caught his "act", might say he was articulate and quite philosophical.... for a plumber... about the heat he has been taking from Obamaites and the liberal media. This would be the same media that has internationally exposed the most trivial flaws in the plumber's life history but can't figure out where Obama was born or where "that one's" huge overseas contributions are coming from. At least until after the election. Hmmmm.
You go Joe!
