Watertown Daily Times | Who supports Donald Trump - and why (http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/national/who-supports-donald-trump---and-why-20160303?utm_source=XMugEF&utm_medium=redirect&utm_campaign=wdt.me&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F)
I found this very interesting about why some people are so supportive of Donald J. Trump.
I am not one of these people but am trying to understand how something like Trump could possibly become the President of the United States.

Because those that support Trump have the same ignorant mentality that elected a loser like Obama. Just what America needs, is another amateur extremist. Kasich proved that by his answers in last night's debate. Too bad he is too far behind to win. We are doomed to enduring a boorish braggart again for at least four more years.

There are issues that most of us want addressed by the next president. Trump happens to be one who has done well resonating those issues. He is like for his non-political approach/attack.
I do not like the uncontrollable constant personal counter attack mode he seems to enjoy. He comes across as being only as deep as the subject he chooses to counter attack.
I suspect if he were to become elected president he like most executives will fill positions around him with people qualified and expert to do the job. A good executive surrounds himself with people that will carry of the mission/objective.
Contrary to the typical politician that will fill positions based on quid quo pros or who they owe a favor to or a special interest or minority they are beholding to.....and usually none chosen have the qualifications to do the job and are instead space taker uppers that merely puppet what the presidents wants VS what needs to be done.
Trump is not a "smooth" executive. He is boorish, bullish and is too defensive. He is easy to suck into a pi$$ing contest. And his name calling and denigrating of people is just out of order.......just like it is here on this forum.
I will support who ever the republican nominee is; if that happens to be Trump I would count on him to hire the best (more outsiders) people to get the job done.
Trump is far and away the better candidate than Clinton or Sanders.
Because all people are human whether they have an R or D after their name or anything else. The majority of ALL Americans are fed up with the state of our country. I personally believe that many democrats have the same values that I do. If their choice when they go into the booth is Trump or Clinton.....they will vote for Trump and never say they did.
Most Americans want America to be great again at home and around the world. Most Americans know that Obama has taken America in the wrong direction and most of us are sick and tired of being a berated people and country. Clinto is shooting herself in the foot (or the head more likely) by espousing to worship what Obama has accomplished and promising more of the same.
So the people may not "like" Trump, but he is most certainly the least of the two evils. And even in his way for sure he does not promise more of the same!!!!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Election cycle after election cycle, we elect an establishment approved candidate who promises change and yet nothing ever changes. The rich keep getting richer, the poor poorer. We continue to go to war, the economy falters, the border never get resolved, education continues to decline. The bridges, roads and infrastructure never gets fixed, families continue to be crushed by debt, college students can't find jobs, black on black crime continues to rise, good paying jobs continue to move out, factories continue to relocate to other countries, and we never talk about the plight of native Americans. In my mind, if you vote for one of the establishment approved candidates, nothing will ever change. If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, then if you don't vote for Trump, you are insane.

Trump reminds me of a junior high kid running for student body president:
If you elect me I'll outlaw homework. I'm not going to tell you how, just trust me.
These republican clowns are simply a reflection of the constituents of the party. Each one of them is trying to "out crazy" the other. What kind of a fool would consider voting for someone who wants to bring back torture AND wants to kill family members of terrorists. What does that say about the hate filled morons who are supporting Trump?

TRUMP running for President of our country....
.....under investigation for fraud (very enlightening interview this morning on
CNN with attorney general of NY)
.....says our military will disobey our laws and world wide laws upon his
command, which he says he will give.
.....has been disavowed by virtually every expert on protecting our country
.....Even when shown to be totally wrong, will continue to lie to his rallies
......has not even a basic idea of policies of this country nor problems\
......advocates policies that he KNOWS cannot be accomplished (tariffs, trade, economics etc)
Those are factual statements easily validated (and there are MANY MANY MORE)
On a subjective (cannot believe I say that because someone of any character would find them non subjective)
.....is crude even when not instigated
.....has a label for anyone and everyone who disagrees with him (hispanic judge...mexican protestor...muslims and of course his standards...idiot, liar, etc. This applies if you disagree with him.
....has obviously lied to all of his followers (see NY TIMES "off record remarks)
One borrowed ditty.......He bragged on the air about screwing around on his wife while McCain was being flogged and beaten in a POW camp...AT THE SAME TIME...and then mocked McCain for HIS SERVICE.

Although I agree with what you said, I will have to correct one part. In my opinion, the rich continue to get richer, but it is the middle class that is getting poorer, not the lower class. We do have more poverty since Obama, but even our poor live pretty well compared to the poor in other countries. Some of our poor live as well as the middle class in other countries, from what I have seen in my life overseas.

And yet, even though he is this despicable he is far greater for our country than either Sanders the socialist or Hillary the criminal and liar. So, if it ends up being a final vote for one of them, Trump will get my vote even if I have to hold my nose when I do it.

I see no difference whatsoever in the EVILS.
EVIL IS EVIL....no shades of gray or degrees. Trump and Clinton either one is not a bad choice...not a terrible choice but in fact grotesque.
They both should be locked up and we start over.
To say, as you did, that your trust Trump to do ANYTHING is simply preposterous. On what can you possible base that ?

I bet president Trump will not resort to accusations of racism or sexism when he doesn't get his way. That in itself will be worth the aggravation of watching him on TV. I wish congress would pass a law stating that current presidents could not appear on comedy shows or talk shows. If he wants to inform the little people of his progress, he should have a press conference, period. Obama looks like he is auditioning every time he is on SNL.

on what can you make that claim ?
He already has begun to do that. That "hispanic" judge screwed him in the lawsuits. Doggone "mexicans" are the demonstrators. Maybe no racism although he alludes to that or sexism, but his are far more personal and undercutting BY FAR

It is laughable when anybody refers to blacks this or Hispanic that or Mexican whatever it is immediately tagged racism!
However it is OK for the democrats to brag about the black or Hispanic vote.
BS!
If the Mexicans are raising hell it is not racist to say the Mexicans are raising hell.
So cut the continuous race BS commentary.

It is a classic piece of documented proof of what a full blooded liar the man is. Testimony to the same kind of BS that has been comng from his mouth since the day I first heard his name!!!!
I would like to hear from the radical party Obama supporters what they have to say about the subject.
I will admit there have been any number of jokes coming from the Obama camp all day today.

Clinton does not look good to anybody.
And her looks certainly underscore, she does not care.
Whever, if anybody, should counsel her to look more Less matronly".
Baggy jackets....baggy pant suits....nothing flattering to her gender....maybe that is her goal. Looks like her clothes are designed by Omar the tent maker.
If she really wanted to be president she could at least make an attempt to look the part.

Now listen up. For 7 years A whole lot of us have sat in agony waiting for our chance to put a Republican in the White House. The Democrats have had their time and have not improved the middle class hard working people's lives. They put a crossing guard into the Presidency or whatever the hell he was. I don't like the man that much but I respect the Presidency of the United States. Now it is our chance to make things better. Hillary will not be elected because of her problems so it looks like it's gonna be my hero The Donald. Is he going to be perfect...I don't think so but I believe he should improve the middle classes lives. He is a man who is ready to go in many ways. Much more than the Community Activist man was. I love my country. I have skin in the game, my son is in the Army and my brother in law is Special Forces for that reason alone I want Trump so he will support those who keep us free. Excellent post. Reagan was tough. He cured inflation, got the hostages back and fired the air traffic controllers when they went on strike. If Reagan was president when the hostages were first taken, there is no doubt the Iranians would be staring at the business end of a B-52 within 24 hours. It's what Kennedy would have done (remember Cuban crises) and it's what Trump would do.

Except, Trump doesn't seem to know what or what not he can or cannot do. He talks like a bully, but like a bully he charges in without knowing his limitations. He has too much baggage. We already have endured one amateur in the white house that bumbled around for two terms without doing any good. America can't afford another four years of inept, boorish bull in the china shop leadership. It's time to wipe the campaign slate and institute a Romney/Ryan rerun. This time, there is no competition. Hillary and Sanders dead in the water so they are no competition for anyone.

Dear Guests:
I really do not believe that a rationale person could like Trump. Let me explain.
It is not Trump that we like but the fact that he is refreshingly candid. We are sick of the political correctness wrought by progressives. As you may recollect breaking that political correctness taboo was how and why Ben Carson launched his political career when at a prayer breakfast he spoke candidly while in the presence of Obama.
People are also drawn to Trump because on the Democratic side there is absolutely no choice to be made. Even the Democrats are moving toward the Republican side .
Trump is playing to the crowd using the tactics he is famous for in "the Art Of The Deal". And you can imagine after the performance of a feckless, weak minded incompetent like Obama Trump looks pretty good.
I will say this about Trump. Because he is using the tactics from his book he has taken extreme positions because in negotiations you can always go down but if you start out weak well you come out on the short end of the stick.
I will also say in his defense that the allegations against him as respect Trump University may or may not be legitimate or may or may not be political or both. HOWEVER keep in mind that thousands of college students are now balking at payig their college loans because like the students from Trump University these students graduating from some of the best universities in the country are claiming that they were lied to about employment and refuse to pay their loans. To add insult to injury Obama is actually fronting a bill to allow them forgiveness. Why? because he want pressure off him because he is responsible for the worse recovery this nation has seen in a long long time.
Personal Best Regards:

I hate to break it to you, but we all have skin in the game, as patriotic Americans. The problem Trump has, is he is popular with a certain subset of the populace, but is hated by the majority of Americans, and even his own party. Look at the prominent Republicans that have come out against him in recent weeks. Romney calls him a phony and immoral fraud. The conservative wing of the party doesn't think he is conservative enough. If you read the newspaper or internet you must realize that the Republican party is looking for a way to deny him the nomination.

Trump is basically a prostitute for the highest bidder. He works hand in hand with the mob. He says one thing one day and then another the next day, changing his view with the changing wind. He has no morals or ethics. He may be a Republican or a Demorat...who knows? He says more disparaging things about Republicans than Democrats. His ego precludes him from ever apologizing to anyone when he is wrong. He has anger issues. About the only thing that I have heard good about him is that he says he does not consume alcohol. If you take his name away from him, he would be mistaken for a Democrat.
I will vote for any of the other three GOP candidates before ever thinking of voting for him. I started out thinking that he might not be so bad, but the more he speaks, the more I dislike him.

Actually it has..a number of times.
And if you support Trump in vengeance for Obama....think...would you advise your children to act that way ?
He is an adulturer...a cheat..under indictment...has no vales, and almost 100 percent of his "answers" are illegal. Won't you be proud to live in this country with the big bully ?
It isn't going to work....we are going to be in mor conflicts.
NEVER thought I would ever say this....but if it is Clinton and Trump, I will set this out. 2 people with ZERO character.
I am embarrassed for my country that I fought for...totally embarrassed

We have had 7 years of a dog catcher in charge let's go with the liar, cheater, no ethics guy who will be able to fend off the people and countries that have played us for a fool. Also you can't build a shed in NY without the black hand being involved...its the way it is...but if you say he is in the mob I would get your meds changed if I were you.
How will the no ethics cheater accomplish his mostly illegal plans ?
By pass congress and constitutio ? His nomination alone means Repubs lose congress.
You are getting sucked in by a vaudeville act. With Trump, there will be MANY more to fend off. Most countries do not take well to bullying and being called names.

You know very well that the RNC will not allow Trump to get to be the nominee.
I would bet an ice cold Yeungling that it will go to a brokered convention and Mitt Romney will come out to be the savior of the Republicans. :a20:
This, of course, will infuriate Trump and he will go Independent. :a20:
The Republican vote will be split between Romney and Trump. :a20:
Hillary wins! The USA wins!

if goes to convention and I doubt it will......if brokered will be lots of violence.
Why ? Have you seen the rallies that are heated, non flexible and hateful. Followers are unreasonable, and as he brags uneducated with NO idea of what he is saying TRUELY.
Will resemble 1964 and 1968 for violence. Republican party if even survives will take forever to come back.
If Trump gets nod or even not if brokered, Democrats take over congress for many years (TRUMP FOLLOWERS THINK THEY ARE VOTING FOR A KING WHO LASTS UNTIL DEATH).
H Clinton win is NOT a win for America. It will be simply a continuation of 8 more years of Obama.
Trump followers are trying to enact vengeance on Obama...they are doing just the opposite.
Trump has NO chance of beating Clinton, repub or independent

TO TRUMP FOLLOWERS
Allow me to add a bit to why Trump cannot beat Clinton.
If you payed any attention you saw last debate how flustered Trump was and noticed the next day was walking back so many things.
That is because the smaller the field the more issue driven everything becomes. All his bravado will mean nothing if he cannot talk the issues, which he is absolutely sans knowledge or working ability to do so.
When it is he and her, she wins and wins big. Now you will say...oh, he will bring out that ....what ? The other women...not news guys.....what ? On the other hand, lets hear Trump bragging about screwing married women while he was married...YOU WILL. Lets hear Trump "making deals using colorful racist language....YOU WILL. If you think the ads on Trump Univ are bad...stand by.....you will hear much more.
Now...bottom line is....you folks who are supporting Trump because he "seems" like he will do this and that to reverse Obama....NO CHANCE.
All you are doing is assuring Clinton is elected and more of the same PLUS and please do not forget how our country is run,....REPUBLICANS LOSE CONGRESS !!!!

By June she was blown out by an unknown black with questionable issues.
She was less tarnished of character back then.

Even though I prefer Rubio over the other two candidates, I believe that if Rubio and Kasich would drop out, Cruz could beat Trump. Cruz can also beat Hillary according to the polls. Trump may not be able to beat Hillary. We do have to be realistic, and we may have to choose the less of evils. Out of Trump, Cruz, Hillary and Sanders, Cruz is the lesser of evils. Just being pragmatic. I do not like Cruz, but at least he IS a Constitutionalist. That is much more safer than an ignorant gambling businessman or one of two socialists. It is my opinion that this is not Rubio's time and he has been too damaged in this campaign to be a viable candidate. A brokered convention will only destroy the Republican party, which is a governor on the speed this country goes in the direction of socialism.

Listen up again. Hillary will be ruled out. I like Sanders but no way does he become President. Kasich is a good man but something is missing because he does not connect with the voter. Now take out Cruz because of two reasons, first he can't get along with many or any in our government and more importantly as a Constitutionalist don't you think he should sit down because he is not qualified because of his citizenship? Next the little instigator Little Marco, he is a disrespectful man who is trying to bait the candidate he is the most jealous of with his taunting of Trump. Rubio & Cruz both talk about the entrepreneurial spirit of their parents when they got started in this country and how far they have come yet criticize President Trump for the same spirit because he has had many business failures.
Take a minute and listen to Mark Cuban talk about the failures he has encountered on his way to becoming a billionaire it is very telling in that the entrepreneurial spirit expects failure of some businesses. These people are wired differently than us regular people. A failure to most people means stop trying because you may fail again, to them it means get up dust off try something different. Trump has used the LAW of the Bankruptcy courts of the USA to his advantage. Why wouldn't he? To impress someone? I don't think so. I think Trump is a good choice and if he isn't we'll give him the hook in 4 year's. With good behavior and a nice judge Hillary should be getting our rite about then. She can dust her morally bankrupt self off and run again...oops no felon's in the WH.

I haven't seen any proof of Cruz not being a citizen. Since half of what Trump says is BS, and he is the only one that suggested that Cruz is not legal, I think I'll wait until the jury returns a verdict or I see something substantial that shows that he might not be a citizen before I count him out. I don't care for either Trump or Cruz, but since my preferences have no chance at participating in the general election, I'll hold my nose and vote for Cruz, since between the two of them, he is more likely to beat Hillary. And Hillary has not been carted off to jail yet, and may not be until after the election. Then, Obama will surely pardon her and she will reign as the next tyrant-in-charge. Trump is still talking like a high school cyber bully, like a Democrat, and is not presidential at all. Of course, the present occupier in the White House is not presidential either, so that is not saying a whole lot. .

Do I care??? And you really ought to research your talking points. He did NOT ask them to swear allegiance to him. Of course, someone told you this so that you could parrot what they told you. He simply had them swear to vote for him. I have seen similar instances of this in church. I have seen this in many different occasion where the leader asked folks to raise their hand for one reason or another. I don't have a problem with it and I don't even intend to vote for him. Liberals will fault him for this and yet totally support a woman that left Americans out to dry and die, allow uncleared personnel access to Top Secret information, mishandle classified information, is guilty of tax fraud, etc, etc. So, as much as you want to make this a big deal, it simply is not. And I am sure that you understand the concept of simply.

He's not playing me at all. I'm simply saying he undoubtedly has leadership ability, and way more than anyone else running on either ticket. The politicians truly are talk, talk, talk and zero action.
That's why it's pretty clear to most of us, you excepted, that Trump offers e best chance to indeed make things happen. Our system separates power by design so it takes leadership to get people together to actually do something. Obama by contrast is passive and mainly plays golf and gives really good hot air speeches.

The man is hated by many people is his recently adopted party as well as many in his abandoned party. The man will do anything and say anything to get elected. How is he going to get anything at all done in Washington, DC. This is a place with its own working rules and logic which usually only the insiders know how to pull the strings well.

Maybe he is hated by a lot of people. Maybe the GOP has over a 50% increase in voter turnout because they hate him. Maybe the Dem's have a historic light voter turn out because they love Hillary so much that they feel they don't even need to vote her in. She will be coronated. Do you have a point? The poster said everyone hates Trump. Personally, I don't like him either but explain the 50% higher Republican voter turn out. Explain the drop in Democrat voter turnout. It doesn't matter because I really don't care. I have no intention of voting for him in the Primary. And just because someone might be of the same party as myself, does not mean that I have to agree with any comment they make.

Turnout to vote in Republican primaries = many democrats voting for Trump
That is one reason in these open primaries, he is winning but cannot surpass a certain percentage. Closed primaries coming up.
In addition, many are turning out to vote against Trump.
I did not mean to diminish the post but it made no sense at all.
Sure there are Dems crossing over to vote in primary, but I will assure you in a general election, the black vote turn out may exceed that for Obama and the Hispanic vote will be simply amazing and they will not be voting for Trump.

Historically, the black turnout is light. The only time we have had a large black turnout in the last couple decades is because of Obama. I doubt you will see the effort for Hillary. What's in it for them? They know she is a liar and could care less about them. That is well known in D.C.
I guess no one knows what will happen in Nov, until Nov. Predictions have been way off this year.

I agree, very few Dems will cross the line to vote for Trump. I have met so many Republicans that don't want to vote for Trump, and/or will do so reluctantly. When you start off with so many Republican candidates, (12 I think?), a lot of money and organizing goes into getting out the vote. If you only have 2 candidates, as with the Democrats, there is going to be less turnout, simply because there are only two candidates, and because Hillary is the presumed nominee. Its not rocket science.

The facts don't back up your "hypothesis". According to a recent paper from Zoltan L. Hajnal and Jeremy D. Horowitz—both political scientists at the University of California–San Diego—there’s clear evidence that when the nation is governed by Democrats, black well-being “improves dramatically” across multiple dimensions.
Specifically, looking at data from 1948 to 2010, Hajnal and Horowitz found that “African Americans tend to experience substantial gains under Democratic presidents whereas they tend to incur significant losses or remain stagnant under Republicans.” That is the reason blacks tend to vote Democratic, because they are voting in their own self interest.

I'm not convinced he is attracting Democrats as voters. According to the latest polls, in a hypothetical general election matchup, Michigan voters prefer both Clinton and Sanders over either Trump or Cruz. Clinton polled better than Trump, 53 percent to 36 percent, in a general election matchup, Sanders topped Trump by a 56-34 margin. Trump may appeal to Independents, but at this point anyways, it doesn't appear to be enough for Trump to win.

You may have hit the nail on the head!
"...offer soultions..."
That is exactly what Obama did...he offered in return for electing him.
However they soon found out and demonstrated over his 7 year reign they found out all he did/does is offer.....very little delivery of anything that does not fit his agenda.
So anybody "offering" to do better than Obama will get the vote of the blacks and other dems who have come up empty handed or worse off.
Until proven otherwise Trump is offering to do more than BS his way into office......which is the crony, business as usual politician operating mode....Obama as golden example.

You Republicans might want to look at the national polls that show either Hillary or Bernie could (and will) easily beat any Republican, including Trump. All you Republicans who are allied with the party of big business might want to come to your senses.

Sounds kind of elitist when you seem to demean honest working class people to being ignorant. Liberals are always looking down upon the working class people, thinking they are too ignorant to make their own way without the help of the gov handout. I've known many so-called "blue collar" workers that had the income equivalent to those with PHD's. As a matter of fact, I know one person that made exactly the same income as a PHD in the same organization. Don't equivalate a person's job status to their intelligence.
If you look at Trump's turnout for his rallies, you will also notice that he gets a lot of minority attendance. It is very easy to suggest that Trumps main source of supporters are ignorant white people, but the truth doesn't support that statement in it's entirety.

I am sad for our country when I see so many Americans supporting Donald Trump. This is a demagogue who reminds many of Adolf Hitler, commanding his jackbooted troops to beat up innocent protestors.
You Republicans might want to look at the national polls that show either Hillary or Bernie could (and will) easily beat any Republican, including Trump. All you Republicans who are allied with the party of big business might want to come to your senses.
I have no problem with big business. Apparently, Hillary doesn't either. That's where she has made her millions. Where do you suppose all the jobs come from? Never been hired by a poor person.
If you think that Hillary is a shoo in for the general election, you may be surprised. Why is she campaigning against Trump NOW, if she is not worried about him? I did not vote for Trump, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he will beat her in the general. That is, IF she is not arrested by then.

You show your ignorance when you make statements that suggest that Trump "commanded" his supporters to hurt someone. To compare him with Hitler is ludicrous and just showing of your ignorance. I didn't vote for him, but I would support him in a heartbeat over Hillary the criminal or Bernie the anti-American socialist.

Do you mean to infer the same polls that had Clinton ahead in Michigan by double digits?
The same Michigan polls that predicted her a sure winner; but somehow Bernie won!
Do you mean those kind of polls?

I can't believe that people take polls seriously. A "poll" is a license to say anything you want. "We polled some people and this is what they said"...yeah right...I believe you!

Well, a thing like Obumbler just got elected twice, so....anything is possible.

The reason Trump has so many supporters is very simple. He is not a Life long political crook. People are tired of SOS . Too bad there was no one better to step in. Sadly in our country only the wealthy set in the top political positions. Americans complain about the wealthy controlling the country but look who the vote for.

Dear Guests:
With the exception of a few the news media today doesn't report news it creates it and sensationalizes it for ratings and profits. And because news is a 24/7 effort a lot of it is just noise
So I really don't care what a poll says about a candidate or CNN or FOX news
because all the noise and hype they kick up only confuses people.
The topic here is why people like Trump and any of the aforementioned opinion will not sway my thinking. I have watch what Trump has said what he does and what he said and did in the past. That is what forms my opinion and an opinion I privately hold open until a decision must be made this coming November .

Well, the writing on the wall suggests that the GOP candidate WILL be Trump. Therefore, he will get my vote regardless of whether the opposition is Hillary or Bernie. On a scale of pros and cons, Trump will win against Hillary and Bernie.

There is a theory that may explain why people like Trump. Trump supporters tend to answer these four questions the same way. It doesn't matter their education, race or income. Just keep the answers in your head.
Please tell me which one you think is more important for a child to have: independence or respect for elders?
Please tell me which one you think is more important for a child to have: obedience or self-reliance?
Please tell me which one you think is more important for a child to have: to be considerate or to be well-behaved?
Please tell me which one you think is more important for a child to have: curiosity or good manners?

The current trend in prison garb is orange, not stripe. And Hillary already has the prerequisite orange attire.

The above posts regarding why they will vote for someone like Trump remind me of the same reasons why they voted for Romney four years ago.
It just shows the mentality of the repubs, get behind a crazy that has no answers but to sprew hate. He has alienated the Afro-Americans, Latinos, Muslims, woman and on and on. Thank you for handing the Democrats a victory.

I know where ALL Christians go. I also know where good atheists go. I am sure that he/she appreciates your concern, but it's probably a good idea for you to consider your final destination.
