We saw the Valerie Gillespie Ensemble at Spanish Springs last night and they were great. Four accomplished musicians (keyboard, drums, standup bass, and singer/woodwinds) who played smooth jazz and sang songs from "The Great American Songbook". Their leaer, Valerie Gillespie, aside from providing vocals, played four different woodwind instruments- clarinet, flute and two different saxes. I know this type of music isn't for everyone, but we enjoyed it immensely. If you get the chance they are worth taking the time.

Thank you for posting this. I really like "The Great American Songbook." I like almost every kind of music, but the standards are among my favorites. -- I miss Lenny Wilson being at the squares, but maybe this group will help. :)
