A very interesting bit of Legislative History: The McCarran-Walter Act of 1952

Donald Trump was recently severely criticized for suggesting that the U.S. should limit or temporarily suspend the immigration of certain ethnic groups, nationalities, and even people of certain religions (Muslims). The criticisms condemned such a suggestion as, among other things, being “Un-American,” dumb, stupid, reckless, dangerous and racist. Congressmen and Senators swore that they would never allow such legislation, and Obama called such a prohibition on immigration unconstitutional (as if, all of a sudden, he gives a damn about the Constitution).

As Gomer Pyle would say, “Surprise, Surprise!!!” It seems that the selective immigration ban is already law and has been applied on several occasions. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, aka, the McCarran-Walter Act allows for the "Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by the president. Whenever the president finds that the entry of aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

Note that McCarran was a Democrat and that this act was utilized by Jimmy Carter, no less, in 1979 to keep Iranians out of the United States—but he actually did more! He made all Iranian students already here check in, and then deported a bunch. Seven thousand were found in violation of their visas, and 15,000 Iranians were forced to leave the United States in 1979. But, you won't hear a word about this from the liberal media propaganda machine.

It is of note too that the act requires that an applicant for immigration ”must be of good moral character” and "attached to the principles of the Constitution.” SINCE THE QURAN FORBIDS MUSLIMS TO SWEAR ALLEGIANCE TO THE U.S. CONSTITUTION, TECHNICALLY, ALL MUSLIMS SHOULD BE REFUSED IMMIGRATION.

I don't think the McCarren-Walker Act is new information for Trump. The act preceded McCarthyism but it's intention was the same. Would you agree?

The McCarran-Walter Act moved away from excluding immigrants based simply upon country of origin. Instead it focused upon denying immigrants who were unlawful, immoral, diseased in any way, politically radical etc. and accepting those who were willing and able to assimilate into the US economic, social, and political structures, which restructured how immigration law was handled. Furthermore, the most notable exclusions were anyone even remotely associated with communism which in the early days of the Cold War was seen as a serious threat to US democracy. I don't know when your parents or grand parents came to this country, seeking a better life, fleeing a criminal society and freedom to get educated a earn a living.

Yes, I've said it for years, our demise began in the 60s with birth control and abortion. The wrong women where using it/getting abortions. Our population went down...theirs went up. How can you say that it is OK to jeopardize national security by purposely mishandling classified material? How can you accuse others when the Clintons have a fake charity that only donates less than 10% to actual charity and the rest is used to "operate" such as plane rides for the Clinton family, meals, hotels, etc. How can you justify her illegal activities with foreign governments that is a conflict of interest for the position she held? I never heard it from Trump. At least I don't think I have heard anything about the Supreme Court justices from him. I may have, but I do know that I have read and watched a lot of news and they all talk about how important this issue is in the coming election. Why would you believe that Trump made it up? I get the impression that you do not keep current on political rhetoric and commentary. Trump may have said something in one of his speeches about this issue, but he says so many controversial things that I may have missed that one. Needless to say, that if he is the nomination of choice for the Republicans, I'll support him. I don't like very many politicians and trust none of them, but I vote ideology, not person.
