View Full Version : Buyers remorse

Hearing more and more of this from folks who thought they were "buying" change and who ignored those who said that this had to happen (I will admit never thought it would be so quick), but what is happening is so disheartening.

I have heard it from a lot of friends who were enamored with the pretty talk, but just read where Larry Kudlow is hearing it a lot also !!!

Sharp left direct to socialism fast !!

How can anyone be surprised by what he is doing? He told you over and over that he was going to redistribute wealth, put in national health care, cut defense, and about everything else he is doing. He has a history of being the most liberal senator in the country. So how can anyone be surprised? People are getting exactly what they voted for. If he said something else and did this, then you could have buyers remorse. But he is doing what he told us he would do. You can certainly have remorse because he won as I do. But if you supported him, your getting what you voted for.

Well, as for me, you are preaching to the choir...I spent all fall posting and posting and warning and warning.

There are those however who really believed he would be different, but as you say if you look at his record AND his training and background...this is what he is.....go after those he considered rich to make it right for those he considered less fortunate...on the surface it sounds so comendable, but at this point anyway, he is pushing this country to out right socialism so fast.

Point...the unemployment money in the stimulus bill forces the states to pay unemployment for part time workers as one area that is new and you do not get any money after a time thus you MUST raise taxes to pay, plus the allowing of folks who work partime to collect unemployment has far reaching results.

NONE...NOT ONE of those impacts were discussed by our congress...NOT ONE. Those who voted for this did so BLINDLY.

This unemployment "hidden item" is one of many that will face these states in the future, meanwhile the radical left wing groups are getting tons of money which will be, and they are open about this, used for political purposes.

Gee sure wish I had listened to you guys. The troika of Bush Chaney and bumsfeld bankrupted the country and should be given a fair trial and then executed. The man needs to be given a FAIR chance and if he fails then vote him out. close to 50% of 50 years of savings has evaporated under their policies. So people get real and get behind OUR president and grow up and stop crying. We are all Americans and tired of being screwed by both sides of the aisle.

I agree and not just because I like you! This didn't all happen in a month, so how can we expect things to CHANGE so quickly?

I suppose we should simply forget the banking hearings of approx 5 years ago when Barney Frank, et al ignored all the warnings...OR....forget 10 years ago when President Clinton pushed home ownership for the poor...PUSHED IT and was warned. You folks keep mentioning Bush, and HE FOR SURE HAS RESPONSIBILITY, but you ignore all the other more direct links.

I surely want President Obama to come up with something to solve all this financial stuff, AND resolve the many many crucial and serious international situations, however...

I said it day in and day out in the campaign.....there is NO....NOT ONE...NOT ONE SINGLE chance that he is not going to take us as far left to socialism as is humanly possible with this congress.

If you read his background..his training...those he was associated you will find all the reasons for my belief. Everyboidy gets upset with the connections to the radicals so check out a fellow named Mike Kruglik a man who helped mentor him in Chicago and worked very hard on his Presidential campaign and what he says about President Obama.

Peolple get sick of the Ayers, Alinsky, Wright, Farrakhan connections and have now completely put them in the background, but if you revisit them what is happening is no surprise...as I have said before, ONLY the speed in which it is being done is surprising.

Bush, FOR SURE, shares some of the blame but the implied innonence of the others is just recreating history !!!

Those who voted for Obama and the democrats have every right to change their minds. If they thought they had a better direction to take the nation, and now see they are taking us head on into a brick wall, I think they should speak up and say this is NOT what we should do.

YES...a brick wall that only the government can rescue us from...sound like a plan ? We are going to be to the left of France very soon.....the financial crisis is being used as a reason to steer us there.

When the final accounting is done, odds are that we will see the net worth of all of these "leaders" has risen during this economic debacle. There are just too many special interests and select companies with freight cars attached to the "stimulus" gravy train, and they will reward those who hooked their cars to the locomotive. They always have.....

Give him a chance? I can't figure out why people are so blind. He is lying. There are no middle class tax cuts. NONE.

Now he's pushing cap and trade which will raise all our gas, oil and electricity costs which in effect is a tax increase on everyone including the poor. He wants to also raise taxes on the "wealthy" the ones that provide most of our jobs. What a bunch of class warfare BS.

When our gas and heating prices skyrocket are you going to blame that on Bush to?

Don't forget the trillions and trillions of dollars being added to our debt that we will never ever pay off. Free health care, free everything. Where's all this money going to come from? The rich? Think again.

You hammer Bush for adding to our debt and then give Obama a total pass when he triples it in 30 days.

The stock market crashes every time he announces a new plan and that ain't Bush my friends.

He looks everyone square in the eye and says no earmarks in his budgets and two days later we find out there are almost 9000 of them and the markets crash again. No one says a word.

Obama doesn't care the slightest bit about pulling us out of a recession. He is seizing the opportunity to reverse every single principal that our country was built on. Like his chief of staff said, "never let a crisis go to waste."

And some sit blindly by and say give him a chance because it's all Bush's fault. Get a clue.

I can't help but think if Obama announced today the sky is really green people would fall right in line. Bush has been lying to us all this time about the sky being blue.

What are you all going to do 20 years from now? Still blame everything on Bush? Clinton gets a free pass, Jimmy Carter gets a free pass, Obama gets a free pass but it's ALL Bush's fault right?

This whole thing makes me sick.

Bucco communism and socialism have been tried in this country before, and we all know they don't work they simply DON'T work so we are not headed down that long lonesome road.Democracy is the only way and Democracy made a choice this past November the man has to have a fair chance to lead us in a new direction you plant a seed you don't know if it's going to bare fruit until it matures. Was I a true American when I voted for Nixon twice, and a true American when I voted for Reagan twice, and now am I a commie or a socialist because I want change and voted for Obama. Lets try to stand by the man together as one nation. By the way after he completes his four years and God forbid he fails then vote his stupid back side out of office and as punishment for his mistakes make him live the rest of his life in a one bedroom rental with Bush. :beer3:

Lets try to stand by the man together as one nation.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Why would anyone stand behind someone taking the country down a path they believe is so wrong?

Are we back to change just for the sake of change no matter the consequences?

We have no choice now but to wait 4 years. Our only hope is to take back congress in 2010 and at least be able to put a stop some of the madness.

Maybe someday we can even get back to actually reading and debating bills before they are voted on.

It's crystal clear that Obama is a socialist and fully intends to take us down that path as quickly as possible.

You can get behind that but not me.

Anyone who voted for any bill including the "stimulus" package without reading it and understanding it should be impeached. It is no excuse they had no time to read it. That alone was reason to NOT vote for it. After it was approved the market went down and almost everyday since then. Obama waited a couple of days to sign it until he could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars taking a trip to Colorado to put on a show for the signing of the "emergency" bill, which was STUFFED full of pork. Come on America, wake up!

Here is an assessment that I am sure will draw fire from the usual camps, however, it is a realistic view from the financial side of what is and is not happening:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123604419092515347.html

The expectations of the financial world are not unreasonable. At some point the newbies in Washington will pick up on it during their OJT (on the job training).

We all know change takes time. We all also know that without specifics, confidence will not come to the fore. And we should all also know leaders cannot just keep focusing on the populist menu....there are other needs the country has.

There are some changes that need to be made....that have IMMEDIATE impact that are not being addressed. Obama could have made good on his no pork committment made during campaigning. Yet he chose to not only ignore the business as usual in DC pork filled bills, but comes out and supports the fact it is there. He could just as easily had said, there will be no pork and don't send it to me until it is out. Instead he chose to fuel the ram rodding Pelosi/Reid bill riddled with pork. Only to be followed up by the next bill and no surprise here, eh....pork filled again.

What bothers those of us used to making changes that yield immediate impact and results...he is not doing it. And some how that seems to be acceptable to the followers of what ever he does. It is an executive short coming he has chosen to allow....results oriented people do not.

Ok, first of all, you continually and perpetually name George Bush, and he has a lot of culpability, BUT your inference is that you exonerate folks like Frank, Dodd, Clinton, etc. THAT is totally unfair and incorrect and you know what....Frank, Dodd are still there...still making policy. Still standing beside this President and still ...still making deals for votes.

Your comment about Rush Limbaugh makes me laugh...the entire thing of the United States White House taking on a talk show host is just ridiculous. I have honestly never listened to him and if you search these archives in this forum, I am saying nothing I havent said during the primary and the campaign, and will remind you that there are many on here who chasitised Obama...called him names during the primary but adore at his feet now....what does that tell you ?

Listen, I want this country and all in it to succeed....I simply feel now as I did last summer.....President Obama is a HUGE danger...I have read BOTH his autobiographies...yeah, 2 autobiographies at his age....there are dissimiliar in many ways..not sure how that happens but anyway also have read almost all I could get my hands on about him....EVERYTHING...ALL of it points to him doing exactly what he is doing.

So, if you are saying there is something wrong with disagreeing with the President, well...guess that was a new law recently passed I had not heard of, and I will disagree all I want an do it unabashedly.

Just please.....when you blame folks, make sure you have facts and history on your side....if you said that Bush was PART of it....I agree, but when you give a free pass to those who were RIGHT THERE AND COULD HAVE CHANGED WHAT IS HAPPENING, then we must part ways !

That seems to be the get out of jail free card for liberals. No matter what happens they can always blame it on Bush. Obama could turn this country into a trash heap and still they would blame it on Bush, today, tomorrow and forever. Everyone one else gets a free pass.

I certainty don't need a year to give him a chance. Obama is left wing radical socialist and I don't care if he personally showed up on my door step with a check to pay off my mortgage. I'd tear it up and send him packing right quick.

Never heard anyone call you as you call it...."commie or a socialist", That sounds like PURE political rhetoric.

Nobody called President Obama a name either. If you research his background you will find that his IDEOLOGY is that of radical..very radical left wing politics leaning to socialism. Does not make him a bad man but it IS HIS IDEALOGY and he is President of the United States.

In reference to another post of yours referencing Rush Limbaugh (the left seems obsessed with talk show hosts) but in any case it isnt just folks like this...seems Jim Cramer also got a few "shots" from our WH today.....

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/cnbc/white_house_knocks_jim_cramer_for_calling_obama_bu dget_greatest_wealth_destruction_by_a_president_11 0203.asp

Seems Jim Cramer, NOT a talk show host from the right called Obama's budget a "radical agenda" and added ""This is the greatest wealth destruction I've seen by a President."

Seems the WH is going to attack anyone who disagrees with them !!! And note it is NOT just right wing radicals.

If Pres. Obama came to my door he would not be bringing me money, but instead would be trying to take what I have to give it to others.

Just because Pres. Obama wants to make bigoted statements - as he was out to slander those non-urbanites who have different values than the wing-tipped, latte crowd - to an audience who think God and self reliance are "archaic" concepts, does not make the statements anything more than a politician shooting his mouth off for the sake of votes. On a different day, he'll hang around a bowling alley, try to roll a frame or two and have a beer with the non-urbanites , and attempt to pass himself off as a "good ole boy" who is just one of the guys.

Yep, give me my guns and bible anytime. Y'all can keep your copy of New Yorker and your IPod.

about the short comings of our past president....and in the spirit of fairness know so little about their seemingly, can say no wrong and obviously has done no wrong (in their eyes anyway).

Time will tell. Just like NBC proudly reporting last night that Obama's approval rating is still 60% considering the hard times the country is in and my favorite considering what he inherited.
What was completely omitted was the fact his approval rating has in fact dropped from 65% to the heralded 60%!

Now just how hypocritical is that? Partisan wagon circling at it's media driven best!!!!!!!!!!!!

A better indicator may be how the rest of the worlds leaders view the new POTUS...so far not doing to well....yeah I know it is only 5 weeks....give him a chance.....uh-huh!!!!

First of all, not sure how a thread about the current President becomes another bash Bush thread. Obviously you dont read well when you IGNORE those saying he had culpability.....AND

I will assume that since that is ALL you talk about that you condone the action of congress a few years ago, and the pressure by Clinton to insure home loans to poor people !!!!!!!

This is not a defense of G W Bush nor has anyone done anything close to it thus I am not sure of where youare going UNLESS you do condone those who were complicit in causing our current dilemma or are simply a party person !

I never said you couldnt or shouldnt have that opinion and simply asked you if you excuse all the others involved...pretty simple stuff !!!!

You never seem to talk about the subject...ONLY GEORGE BUSH !!!!

Bush shreded our constitution also, by going into a war illegally, by wiretapping, illegally. I might agree with you about some of Obamas ideals not being right, but don't forget about this C student named W that got to be president because of his family wealth and power.

Boy you got that right. And to the rest of you - "McCain LOST". Get over it.

I was over the election the next day or sooner.

Are you saying we need to give President Obama blind loyalty with no criticism allowed ?

Went to war illegally??? How did you arrive at that conclusion or is it just more mindless Bush bashing totally ignoring the facts.

The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (Pub.L. 107-40, 115 Stat. 224, enacted September 18, 2001), one of two resolutions commonly known as "AUMF" (the other being "Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002"), was a joint resolution passed by the United States Congress on September 18, 2001, authorizing the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the attacks on September 11, 2001. The authorization granted the President the authority to use all "necessary and appropriate force" against those whom he determined "planned, authorized, committed or aided" the September 11th attacks, or who harbored said persons or groups. The AUMF was signed by President George W. Bush on September 18, 2001.

The Iraq Resolution or the Iraq War Resolution (formally the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002,[1]) is a joint resolution (i.e., a law) passed by the United States Congress in October 2002 as Public Law No: 107-243, authorizing the Iraq War.

Illegal wire tapping too? Let's get back to reality or at least close to it shall we?

The USA PATRIOT Act, commonly known as the PATRIOT Act, is a statute enacted by the United States Government that President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001. The contrived acronym stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (Public Law Pub.L. 107-56).

The Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eases restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expands the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhances the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expands the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers can be applied.

The Act was passed by wide margins in both houses of Congress and was supported by members of both the Republican and Democratic parties.

There is a measurable segment of the population which wants to blame George Bush for everything from it raining (or not raining) to the next eclipse of the sun. That's their choice.

Anywhere from 4 to 8 years from now there will be another measurable segment of the population which will blame Barack Obama for everything from Mt. Redoubt's quirkiness to the demise of the Pontiac brand. That's just the way of things.

The "change" bandwagon requires constant referral of the previous administration in order to reinforce the "change" moniker.

No matter what the current administration does, it's successes will be heralded by its congregation as heroic acts of recovery, while its failures were due to "we didn't realize how bad the previous administration left things." It's a great situation for a glib politician.

However, this week's hero often becomes next week's villain. It usually happens when the congregation's ox gets gored somewhere along the way, as it inevitably does. It always happens when the "system" starts dipping into the pockets of the congregation instead of others during the furtherance of the "system's" agenda.

All the Bush bashing and sorts doesn't really bother me but when some folks start spouting illegal war blah blah blah, it's just liberal propaganda not even based in reality, not to mention how it disrespects our troops.

it gets increasingly old and shallow when all some have as a reference point is Bush's term. The continual harping NEVER adds value to any of the discussions.
I can only conclude it is a page from the party/Congressional hand book, that recommends red herring filled catharsis to sway discussions and progress from the real subject.

I await the first discussion of substance that is not dragged into a polarized, partisan, opposition, Bush bash.

Productive discussions contain more than just party line adherence...more than what is read in the papers:1rotfl:....and certainly more than what is learned from the network news barf.

One can only hope.

Give him a chance.... He is making changes...... reversing a lot of BUSH last minute changes for his rich cronies... Just think where we would be right now if BUSH was still in office OMG!!!!!!!!:crap2:

Are you reading the legislation that is passing and proposed and all the "fine print", etc enclosed.

Read about the states that are considering turning down the stimulus money, NOT for politics, but because of the "fine print" that will shoot up taxes and make the state dependent on the us goverment.

This is not REVERSING anything..this is a full forward assault !!!

Outcomes don't matter. They just want him to do something and they don't care what. When you view him as the savior nothing else matters and everyone else is the devil aka Bush. It's called Obamamaina.

a Bush bash forum.....why not. It is apparently a subject way too many can't seem to live without. At least when there is a discussion that has nothing to do with whose side are ya on or politics or taking sides...they could have a place to go.

It doesn't have to be very deep and certainly no breadth required. Then eventually when they come to the realization we are where we are and it does not depend on who is in the WH.

Give him a chance? Of course we are giving him a chance. I guess if we are not worshiping everything he says and jumping up and down when he speaks we are not showing the same adulation. As stated many times before....he gets no credit for words from me...talk is cheap....walking it is a different story.
And until he actually accomplishes something he gets no credit.

Now if we were to adopt the Bush Basher mentality we would be railing on about how every time he opens his mouth the stock market drops...but we are above such baseless spewing of rhetoric.

SUBSTANCE! PERFORMANCE! ACCOMPLISHMENTS! That's when the fair shot will come if it comes.

I would remind some again, his idol stature around the rest of the world is not much better than ANY of our past Presidents.

BTK

PS oh by the way he did say last night on the record this is a good time to buy stocks and here we are one day after a gain, back in the dumper (I am sorry that was so Bush Bash-like!!)

Hope you mend well and heal great !!!

Stop listening to what your saviour is saying so nicely and watch what is happening....it has NOTHING to do with any previous administration. (Nor, I may add to anything he said during the campaign)

Again, dont let the oratory keep you from watching what is happening.

Let’s try this.

Ok, I admit it. All these are George Bush’s fault and he alone is responsible for all of them. If it wasn’t for him life would be just dandy.

The entire problem with our economy.
The national dept.
Healthcare costs.
Wars WW1 through today.
The attacks on 9/11.
Terrorism.
Global warming.
Global famine and poverty.
AIDS.
The earthquakes in Indonesia.
Hurricane Katrina.
The tornados that just came through Oklahoma.
All government wire tapping in the last 20 years.
The Yugo.
All computer viruses.
Government corruption here and abroad.
The rise of communism.
Slavery.
The wild fires in California.
Email Spam.

There did I miss anything? Now that we have that on the table, how about some of you giving some substantive view points on how you believe current policies being enacted by Obama today will help us out of our bad economy instead of making drive by one-liners about Bush. We all know what we don’t like about Obama’s plans.

What do you like about them and how do you feel they will help us? Don't just say give him a chance. That says nothing.

I guess everyone has their turn.

When Bill Clinton's time was up, I was glad to see him go,

Barack Obama is heading down the same path that George H.W. Bush went, and may very well be the next one-term president. The "it's the economy" will still be the war-cry in 2011, especially when the next round of tax hikes (inevitable, do the math) are necessary. "Change" may be all that's left in our pockets by then.

"Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small."

I won't quote the whole prolouge of Saul Alinsky's book, Rules for Radicals, but check out this small portion,

"There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people."

Does any of this sound familiar? The current Administration is making the economy worse to create a crisis that will lead to a European form of socialism.

Another thing that Alinsky talked about was demonizing the opporiton. Look how President Bush is being villianized and you see where this comes from. Alinsky was considered the father of community organizsing in Chicago. Now, who else has a background of community organizing in Chicago?

Take a look at Alinsky's writings, and see if that is the path you want to go down. That is sure the path that our President is taking us.

The bottom line is no Presidential administration can do much without a willing and following Congress. The 2010 elections for the House (all of them) and the Senate (1/3rd of them) is only 20 months away, and the campaigning will start earlier than that. Time for the BIG CHANGE to occur! All incumbents with 6 or more years in office need to be replaced - no exceptions!
