New York Times Will Vacate 8 Floors In Its HQ To Generate "Significant Rental Revenue"

Their base has declined soooo much with their BS liberal take they are hurting.

Dear Colleagues,
When we moved into our new building in 2007, we saw it as a modern headquarters for a modern New York Times. We still feel that way.

But as Mark mentioned in the State of The Times last month, after a good deal of consideration, we have determined that the way that we use our headquarters building needs to evolve to better match the changes you and your colleagues have been driving across every part of the company.

The current way we have configured our office makes us slower and less collaborative. It is also, frankly, too expensive to occupy this many floors when we don’t truly need them.

We’ve made the decision to consolidate our footprint across the building to create a more dynamic, modern and open workplace, one that is better suited to the moment. We’re planning significant investments in a redesign of our existing space in order to facilitate more cross-departmental collaboration.

We expect a substantial financial benefit as well. All told, we will vacate at least eight floors, allowing us to generate significant rental income.

We have engaged Gensler, an architecture and interior design firm, to help us redesign our workplace and beginning early next year, work will begin on select floors below 14. By the end of next year, we expect to have consolidated our occupancy to that side of the building. We will keep the cafeteria and the conference rooms on 15.

We have already seen that changing office layouts can lead to good results. Some of the most creative wings of the company — the Beta team, the Graphics Department and some of our technology teams have changed their floor plans to help improve the way they work.

The coming redesign will introduce more team rooms and common spaces. And, we will do away with big corner offices, like the ones you see on the 16th and 17th floors, including, yes, the publisher and CEO’s offices. We don’t need to preserve those vestiges from a different era, so we won’t.

In the end, these changes will impact every employee at 620 Eighth Ave. In the near term, we will have to move about 400 employees out of the building to nearby office space while the first phase of work is completed. We expect that group, which includes parts of marketing, technology, the newsroom, news services, corporate finance and print products and services pre-press operations, to move in the first quarter and return by the end of 2017. Your manager will notify you if your position is affected by this temporary move. We understand and appreciate the disruption this will inevitably cause and we will do everything in our power to mitigate it.

Representatives from across the company are serving on a steering committee to help us plan these changes. They will solicit input from everyone interested in providing it and we’re committed to keeping you fully informed as the project plays out.

We will have more details soon.

Thank you.
Arthur and Mark

This used to be a secret site. Just recently, Bloomberg was able to unmask these guys.

The one who is interesting is a Bulgarian analyst from Wall St who was "worked for a hedge fund before being barred by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority in 2008 for insider trading. He didn’t admit or deny wrongdoing, the agency said. Backshall is a familiar face on financial news networks who has been quoted by media outlets, including Bloomberg. His involvement with Zero Hedge, along with that of Lokey, hasn’t been widely known."

Unmasking the Men Behind Zero Hedge, Wall Street's Renegade Blog - Bloomberg (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-29/unmasking-the-men-behind-zero-hedge-wall-street-s-renegade-blog)

Not sure why you would want to read, let alone steal, from people who want to be secret
They must have lots of popular things to say (we know Russia loves them) as people on here keep stealing from them.

This site is part of the ZEROHEDGE family, which was plagerize and stolen from just recently.

The authors name is a made up name stolen from the movie "Fight Club"

As mentioned earlier...

"Zero Hedge's content is conspiratorial, anti-establishment, and economically pessimistic,[3] and has been criticized for presenting extreme and sometimes pro-Russian views.[1][4][5]"
R
Zero Hedge - Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Hedge)

This TOTV certainly is not moderated as some mention.

This seems to be the norm...stealing and plagiarizing. Ignoring US law, and TOTV rules.

Not sure if I am correct, but could this not possibly lead to the parent site either facing fines or just disappearing. I am not that bright on forums, copyright law, etc, but surely is a habit on here.

BUT we get the Russian point of view !

NY Times is just the first of several so called major dailies which are in deep financial trouble .

They led the way to change the nature of public education in America toward indoctrination . Consequently they have helped foster several generations of adults who no longer read any papers . They destroyed their audience and now they are expendable . Bye-bye !!

In my opinion, the OP did nothing to conceal the thread was copied and pasted. It was submitted simply for a read. Whether one believes the article's content or meaning thereof is left to the individual. However several websites have made mention that the New York Times lost subscriptions .

I have no dog in this in fight except I would not define the OP's use here as plagiarism

I love it when folks come on here and whine about some technicality (in their mind) rather then discuss the issue.

If you have nothing to add why bother posting, get a life

Bottom line is the NYT is no longer the 800 pound gorilla in the room like CNN and other liberal MSM

1. Posting another's words on here as an individual post is plagiarism. It is also a violation of TOTV rules.

2. Where it came from is important since the Times is completely renovating their building. The pro Russian website will always present in such a manner as to be negative. The renting issue seems to headline the Russian point of view attempting to make it sound like that is the core of the story. Actually it is simply an internal announcement of redecorating.

3. Explain the issue you had in mind when you cut and pasted ? Do you want to discuss the Times building renovation.

Finally, my looking at links is tied to the constant tearing down of American institutions, and the Fact that thevRussian tact in Eastern Europe is to do just that. They are now making inroads now in our country. Read what is happening in Europe.

It's always the newbies that think the rules don't apply to them. Those of us who were around when this site was carefully moderated know the rules and abide by them. Nobody that habitually breaks the rules should be surprised when they are suddenly booted off of this forum.

When you read a post on here, or anywhere, and it does not, IN ANYWAY note either by link or in words, as for example, your posted definition of "plagiarism" do you not assume it is the thoughts of the poster ?

I think veryone does, even the uneducated like you.

Laws and rules are important, and for example, I KNOW your presented definition of plagiarism is not in your words at all.

See, that is sneaky and against the rules. Even you can see that.

Of course, you and cronies prefer to simply find a website that can be "used" to solidify something for you, no matter the facts, or even who authored it (and of course the pictures..who could ever forget the pictures) and then post it.

It gives you a sense of belonging and contributing, although the reality is in most cases you don't even understand what you are posting.

I admit, simply coming on any forum to just make wise ass comments is pretty easy, requires not thought, etc.

That kind of wction practiced by your "gang" is disrespectful to others who may want to post or contribute on an adult level.

And you should use the definition of plagiarism I used about a week or so ago when someone did the same thing with a pro Russian site.

Actually, just getting ready to leave the house, but needed to mention that you and your cronies are the only folks I know citing, copying and stealing to post a PRO RUSSIAN point of view.....only folks I know who go after the first amendment of the constitution by attacking the media, and you are the only folks who pretty much attack, at direction, American values, you folks are of the few that are just comfy with the American president not being transparent and not caring if he is deeply in debt to our enemy countries or terrorist states.

Maybe you should clear your fog, re read the constitution, get a grip on what we face in this world, discuss issues, and just a personal favor...,. .

Get rid of the total obsession you and your cronies have with Hillary Clinton. As you folks like to say...Election us over...it is time to govern.

So please, for those of us who are actually patriotic American citizens who take great umbrage at foreign governments (especially those like Russia) interfering with our elections...quit calling yourself a patriotic American.

One is now President, and that is the one we should concentrate on.

You people think being extremely wary of Trump is support for Clinton. To your point, the election is over. Trump is the President and he is the one we need to keep honest. Clinton is gone.

And, Trump lies is not just from me. You have to be living under a rock to not know his calvacade of lies, well chronicled. His own biographer, his ghost writer expressed great concerned about his honesty and gave clear examples of his lying. Carl Bernstein has explicitly called him a liar just last week. There are websitedps dedicated to his lies. These are not old lies, all in the last year.

I am tired of saying what is public knowledge, what is chronicled, yet on here, you people speak of him in reverence. He has done nothing but LIE..nothing, yet you obsess on someone who is not in the public life, and simply look past your lying President.

I donypt like to be insulting but how smart can you be ? In addition, I listened to him in Orlando, and he ripped apart almost all USA institutions. He simply tore them apart. He enjoys one thing it appears. To do his stand up routine and get applause.

His tweets..,a President tweeting his dissatisfaction on a restaurant review..come on. He labels all Americans and then tells you not to listen to the media, because they say bad things about him.

Yes..he is the President...pay attention. He IS a liar and of epic proportions and as long as he has you yelling at a non player, he just keeps lying, AND HIDINGby the way.

You folks seem to honestly want to be Russian,..that is your news source, thAt is his favorite leader. I just do not understand and when I ask how you can support the lies and not be suspicious and not want to know what he is hiding, I hear Clinton.

Yes we did...EVERY election the D and R party fields two HORRIFIC candidates.

True...but pointless...he's there, you can't stop him now. Only the "system" can...and they put him there...unless the EC votes against him of some weird Russian sh!t happens. Whomever ends up being president will play ball.

Same with ALL the D or R candidates.

It's too late..."we" elected him and this is the way it's going to be the next 4 years. You should have gone 3rd party.

Other than the employees, does anyone really care what happens to the NYT? Who reads it?

You should direct that question to the OP and also ask WHY he started this thread.

My opinion is that they reported many of Trumps lies and missteps and he attacked them publicly because as he says..."they were not nice to me"

He attacks freedom of the press for a reason...to rile you "items" into a frenzy based on his lies,...that is why the large rallies...gee, if someone asks him a question, it is over. It is his way of control, mostly over people like you. The media will just wait.

Trump is antagonizing the very people he is going to need to get along with for the next four years; ie the press and the intel community. Exit no drama Obama, enter a combination of WrestleMania and Roller Derby. It's going to be fun to watch.

Apparently, Trump's MO worked for him to get him elected.

....
I simply detest LIARS, much of my reticence with Trump is his aversion to truth. I believe in doing the right thing, which means following the rules of the house I am in.

I can handle anything and anybody unless they lie either by action, omission or commission.

.....

THAT, in a nutshell...is the problem with so many posters here.

They make a proclamation, or plagiarize, without providing the link to where they got it...and try to pass it off as their own.

I do understand why they do it however, because even they know that the sources they are using are less legitimate when it comes to facts... than even the National Enquirer.

So in essence, while they believe these totally false news stories...they are ashamed to admit it.

Pretty much says all you need to know about these types of people. :ohdear:

The question remains...WHICH side's "news" is fake and which is real?

My money...from past personal experience with "news events", is the MSM...the ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX is the more "fake" news.

Remember...there's a blurry line between the corporations and government. They're many times...one and the same...they work closely WITH each other.

I would challenge you loudly to produce any fake news that comes out of the MSM.

They go through editors, fact checkers, etc before a story is broadcast or printed, rather than a teen in Bulgaria making stuff up.

Your premise is based on the rantings of Donald Trump who never said they lied. He did not want them to say anything bad about him.

You are aware, I assume, that your link is to MSM EXPOSING fake news ...

There was one link to Breitbart, but it seems to have been taken down

My results were fairly balanced...msm and "alternative" sites too.

Fake news is EVERYWHERE...on BOTH sides. That was the point the search results was trying to show. Each side says the others' news/facts are "fake", "false", "lies".
