Can anyone explain why the Cart Path behind Sweet Bay has been closed? It makes no sense at all to reroute traffic through a parking lot when there appears to be no reason for the cart path being closed. It may have been a safety issue before the construction was completed but what's the logic to keep it closed.

I read the other day that "they" will not reopen that small portion of the cart path. Why, wasn't at all clear to me!
There may be something in the story (probably "rumor" is a better word) that they think the new street markings on east-bound Lake Sumter Landing are safer than having carts cross the street at that point.
It made sense, for a short time, to close while construction was going on, but this latest move makes very little, to me!
Perhaps it's just to add more things for us to talk about here on TOTV!

Try this for the explanation- about half way down the page.

As stated in a previous posting, of course the VHA would approve such a thing. They are their usual informative self. Giving us the what, but not a word about the why!!

It was changed because of safety issues.

It was changed because of safety issues.
What could be safer than being diverted through a busy parking lot and then having to merge with vehicular traffic on a busy street? Would love the hear what the "safety issues" are!
IMHO
1. The people entering the Sumter Landing area from the north only have to merge with 1 lane of traffic.
2. They don't have to cross two lanes.
3.And they don't have to watch for the golf carts coming from the south making a left to go into Sumter landing.
4. The people leaving the Sumter Landing area merge with traffic at the corner near Bravo's.
5. As they approach Morse they enter a "safe" zone for the left turn.
Again IMHO I like it.
