We have been here in The Villages for almost two years now and have eaten at almost all the resturaunts here including the Country Clubs but what happened last night was a first for us.Two my wife's nursing buddies were here visiting her so we took them out to Toojays(their choice) for dinner. We had maybe a 10 minute wait to get a table and our drink orders were taken immediately followed by our food order no more than 10 minutes later. Our food(all 4 orders were correct and very good) in about 20-25 minutes. After we finished our meal and the waitress was collecting our check, she apologized for the slow service. We as a group did not feel that 20 minutes was an excessive amount of wait considering how busy all the places are. Next came the manager with his apologies and a platter of free desserts consisting of carrot cake, chocolate layer cake and cheese cake. We tried to tell him that we were very happy with the service and the meal but he insisted that we take the free desserts. If we wanted we could have them boxed for takeout. In summaryI guess this is why you never hear complaints against them and why you never hear rumours of them closing. More places could take a lesson from them. By the way, this was the Toojays in Spanish Springs.

We had a similar story happen to us at TwoJays in LSL. The manager could not be more accomodating. You gotta love the customer care.:icon_hungry:

Isn't that wonderful. That's all it takes. A little care and customer service and good food too. I've noticed they've been hiring some really good help lately and training them very well.
I think 2 Jay's is a fantastic place both in LSL and SS. Thanks for sharing, Schotz!!

Why is it that something as easy and fun as what the manager did, is so alien to so many places. It's much more fun to read a post like this than one where the service stinks and the manager doesn't care.

It is one of my favorite restaurants. It is nice to hear such a good report because I always enjoy the food and the service there.:agree:

Hi Schotzyb,
What a lovely thing you did, rewarding Toojays for going above and beyond by letting others know about your excellent experience. Maybe other managers will see that, yes, it does pay to value and care about your customers!
As a long-time fan of Toojays, I'm not surprised, but am delighted to read your post. Thanks for sharing.

Our fav too!
.
I just talked to corporate about this and they told me there is a contest going on between all their locations to see who can serve the most desserts in a month. You know, those menu items that all the servers always ask you about, but everyone says "No thanks - I'm too full !" to. The score is 1,486 desserts served so far by Spanish Springs and 1,487 for Lake Sumter Landing.

Schotzyb,
If I were a manager for Two Jays I would comp you dinner once a week so you could pass around their good will. Enjoy the desert.

be unhappy with at any of their locations.
They know what works and demand it of their employees and more importantly their location managers.
Good service, good food, reasonable price, clean surroundings = success.
One wonders why so many others have tried and failed in TV!?

We had the pleasure of discovering Toojays early this month. We were visiting the villages and checking out some houses with the realtor. After we were finished looking the first day, we wanted to get something to drink and sit in a nice cool place before heading back to Orlando. We were only going to have a drink, but my wife decided she would like to have a dessert. After much deliberation, she finally settled on The Killer Cake. When the server brought it, it looked good enough, but not anything too special. Vicki started eating it and I thought she was going crazy with hor oohs and aahs. After a few minutes, I couldn't take it any longer, so I had to have a bite myself. That has got to be the absolutely best cake I have ever had. It is not made with flour and it tastes a lot like chocolate fudge. We got two pieces to take back to Orlando with us.
Needless to say, when we went back on the following Thursday, we had to go back to Toojays. This time we had a meal, but we still got two pieces of Killer Cake to take back with us.
We don't even live in TV yet, but we've already got a favorite restaurant - Toojays!

Carol and I eat at Two Jays a few times each month. A few months ago we had to wait 10-15 minutes to be served. This was very unusual.
The manager came and apologized. So did the server. What a great place.:clap2:

I have never, EVER, eaten there and ordered ANYTHING that wasn't yummy and I have great respect for the hard working and extremely nice servers who never mix it up.
Now I MAY turn some people away. They have the best chicken livers I have ever eaten.

When we were in TV last week we ate at Toojays in LSL. As usual, our meal and service was excellent. This is the kind of place where there are no suprises. Service and food is ALWAYS excellent.
Our server must have overheard us talking about having to leave to go to the airport. The manager came to our table with a bag of cookies for our flight. She smiled and asked us to come back and visit them when we return. You can be assured that we will! :icon_hungry:

PP .... now, that was a classy gesture on their part. That's how a restaurant gets and keeps a stellar reputation. Hooray for Toojays!!!

Two years ago we went to Toojays in LSL for dinner. The waitress spilled wine on all four of us. The manager immediately came to the table and insisted paying for our clothes to be dry cleaned.

I just want to clarify my earlier post about eating at Toojays and having the Killer Cake. This was in LSL, not SS, but I am sure there is no difference in the recipe. I didn't want anyone to be misled by the heading of this thread.
Sorry.

We went to LSL Toojays when we were in last TV in April (8 of us in total).
Staff were wonderful as usual and Manager sent an appetiser Platter of potato pancakewith cheese (I can't recall actual name) which we thought was just to keep us occupied as meal might be longer arriving because we were a large group.
Not so, just as we had consumed this tasty concoction our various entrees arrived!
What goodwill was generated by this gesture! We will continue to visit Toojays whenever we are in the Villages and recommend them whenever we can.
We are 10yr + owners, over 20yr visitors and remember when there were only a handful of eateries.
The Villages and it's people have never lost its magic for us snowbirds from UK
