Well, I'm now making my own doughnuts because of our having to stay inside due to our compromised health conditions.
Without Amazon, instacart and curbside pick-up we would have put ourselves at greater risk.
So, I bought 2 doughnut pans and finally got around to using them. A plain old baked doughnut cake recipe with a chocolate glaze is my first venture into the world of tasty cakes!
It couldn't have been easier and the taste could only be better had they been fried in fat.
Now, the cost for my first batch of 9 doughnuts including buying the pans and ingredients was $18. That's only $2 per doughnut and my next batch will be only $1 per donut then it will go down from that!

we keep finding new recipes to try. Yesterday was apple cake and that was a lot more apple than cake but very good and relatively healthy.

I been having stuffed peppers two times week from my pepper plants and they really haven’t started producing yet. When the do I’m going to Be up to my ears in 6 varieties of pepper’s. Going to have to find some more recipes. Got 12 half pints canned so far and another batch of hot pepper flakes drying. Going to try hot banana flakes also. I pulled two 2 1/2 foot banana’s plants out cause they were too hot for me to eat.

Sounds great to me. I haven't found any really great outlets for cake donuts around TV anyway.

I'm not overly impressed with this glaze/topping for a donut. The donut itself was decent though I'd try it but adding a touch more flour to make it a bit more dense than this recipe. Ill try it again and maybe make a confectionery sugary glaze for it! Can't go wrong with more sugar!
But I like the idea of baking donuts like this. Only 3 more left!!!

IMHO the best cake doughnut can be achieved only by frying it in gobs of oil. There is nothing like that inside part that has a bit of a crunchy/crispy fried in oil thing going on!

Use peanut oil, it’s supposed to be good for you? Probably the healthiest part of the donut?

Once you bake a donut to almost done, remove from pan. When you want to eat throw in air fryer makes them crispy just like frying without the extra oil

What a great idea!! Thank you.
I just happen to have one of those sitting on the counter wondering what else can I use it for! I love cooking a thick pork chop with montreal steak seasoning on it in the air fryer also wings slightly marinated in hot sauce and some of my own taco seasoning.

Peanut oil not any healthier than vegetable oil. A donut will absorb 25 to 30% fat so not all that healthy.

Just go to Publix and buy Entermans donuts. No work, no cleanup and they are good.

They are staying inside because of compromised health.
And maybe they had the same less-than-stellar experiences with Instacart that I had.
And sometimes it's just fun to try making something yourself. They said they are enjoying the process.

Thanks, that concept hadn't crossed my mind!
You totally missed the point I made in my OP.
I'm at home all day.
I'm bored.
I've found something creative to do.
It takes time to research recipes.
It takes time to make, clean up then it takes time bragging about it here.
Donuts! I'll be right over!

DOUGHNUTS !!! My favorite food. Good for the morale.
BTW...the healthiest part of the doughnut is the hole.
I like DD but think that Winn Dixie has the best bargain, and they taste SOOOOO GOOOOOOD!

Obviously people like to judge. BAKED donuts are fun to make, much HEALTHIER than FRIED...
Good for you learning something new and having fun doing it. My favorite...“Margarita Donuts“...

Try your hand at pepper jelly. Fill glass bottles with vinegar or vegetable oil, then add peppers. It's refillable and makes an easy gift.

This recipe sounds like way too much fun! Saturday night dessert and then brunch on sunday!
Thanks!
I'll be experimenting on baklava type donuts soon! Donuts with chopped walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg then soaked in a honey syrup then topped with a little crunchy phylo dough soaked in honey then dusted with more cinnamon and sugar!
