I've been here for a week, and have been invited to see an aging and beloved relative. The family would be more comfortable with the visit were I to get a (negative) COVID test before I visit.
Where can I go to get one? Also, if anyone has some experience to share with me as far as how quickly the results were available, that would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not in TV yet so I can't tell you where to go, but I was working on a job recently that required daily Covid tests. We had results in about 20 minutes.

It's only good for one day as you can test positive a day after you tested negative. Food for thought.

There was a place set up outside next to Wawa on 441 (near the hospital) that was doing them in the last week or so. Not sure if they are still. I imagine you call Wawa and ask them.

Walgreens by Rohan Rec has a drive thru testing site. Remember there are a lot of false negatives and some false positives. As another poster stated, you could be exposed to COVID on your way home from testing.

TVHCOVIDTEST.COM will bring you to The Villages Health site. Result given the same say and it is self-administered. I recommend it.

Yes it's a drive in on 441 just west of WAWA on the north side. It's been going on this week as far as I can see. Agree with comment that once you get the results (don't know how long it takes) you could have caught Covid without knowing it. I think distancing will always be the safest route still. Virtual hug to you all.

That is why you need to quarantine from the time you take the test until you meet your relative to ensure you stay negative.

Paramount Urgent Care on 466 has COVID-19 testing. They offer same day results within 3-4 hours. I know 2 people who got their testing done there. Go early - sometimes there is a long wait.

Also get the antibody test. You may have antibodies but were asymptomatic. And wear a mask social distance when you visit. Ask the person you are visiting what they are comfortable with. Maybe sitting outside vs a closed in space.

My results took 11 days to get back. Also, it's a snap shot. You could be covid free, then 2 days later you have it.
I'd say just make sure you aren't feeling sick, wash hands, wear a mask, and stay back 6 feet or more.
Or do a video call or zoom talk.

My husband and I were both tested at the Walgreens by Lake Deaton Publix & Rohan Rec center. Go online to Walgreens to register. We did so the day before the test. It is a drive thru, self administered test. We were emailed results in 2 hours. My tip-register for the first appointment after their lunch break. Super fast! Second tip from our daughter in healthcare at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC: blow your nose right before doing the swab. You’ll get the most accurate sample without digging up there for brain matter. 🤪

Get a blood oxygen sensor. They cost about $15-$20. One symptom specific to Covid-19 is a drop in blood oxygen level. Any reading below 95 is cause for concern, but the virus will cause a drop to around 90.

Call 352-689-4675 to schedule test with Sumter County Dept of Health. It’s free.
The one next to WAWA on 441 near Cracker Barrel is still open and there is no appointment needed. I didn't get mine there but I got my results in 1 day.

Walgreens on Kristine way , they tell you you will get your results within 72 hours but we had them in about 30 minutes , it’s an easy test you just have to swap both nostrils 10 times with a long cotton swab and go in 1 inch to get a good sample, you can make an appointment on line or go there they sometimes give them without an appointment good luck and prayers for your friend

You can go to your Doctor or I think the clinic across from Freedom Pointe is doing covid testing. Rapid testing can take about 2 or 3 days but not always accurate. Swab testing not sure how long but much better results.

If positive, quarantine until you test negative using the highest reliability test. Fast and cheap tests may not provide the highest reliability. Sick COVID nurses are still getting the swab test. Results in 24-48 hours. If you test positive with a fast test, always do a recheck with a better test. Check with you doctor on this if it makes you feel better.
The chances of being exposed if you distance and mask are much, much less than those who don’t. Test, distance, and assume many of the people walking around here are positive .. because the numbers are still climbing in Florida. We are in the third amplification stage and because of attitudes, it likely will keep climbing. Food for thought.

OP, wants to visit a relative so I understand why he would want to be tested for COVID 19. If he is careful (quarantines) following the test and visits relative following a negative result he would have a “peace of mind” visit with his relative. Nothing is perfect or 100%. I was tested for personal reasons and had negative results within 24 hours. CVS in Wildwood is my recommendation. Good luck.

I have friends who used this Walgreens, 10 days and they had to go over there to finally get results. In the mean time they went to another site and got retested...this one got results that day, NEGATIVE. The results at Walgreens - first they couldn’t find them then Positive.

I go to help with my husband's care in a Memory Care Facility and I get a test every two weeks. Not required any longer, but makes me feel better. I go to the 441 Urgent Care located across 466A from Colony Plaza. Results usually take two to three days.

My wife and I had Covid tests done at Walgreens on Rt. 44 near Morse and had our results back in 2 hours. No cost if you qualify by answering a series of questions. Having diabetes and high blood pressure or any heart issue will meet the requirement as will other health issues.

The CVS pharmacies in The Villages does free testing. Go to their web site, give your information, pick a date, go to the drive through, they hand you a kit, pharmacist gives you instructions, you place it back in the bag, put into the bin outside the window. You are done. You get results back in 2 to 3 days on the internet. Easy, fast and efficient.
