I wish they would spend more time and resources addressing the most dangerous situation on the roads. People who can’t put down their friggin cell phones and concentrate on driving. That is what forced me to make the difficult decision to sell my motorcycle, too many close calls with texters. It has also become a problem with golf cart drivers in the Villages.

Why yes, yes it does. Words matter in a text forum. They matter a lot. When you post a brand new thread to inform people that a "new" regulation has done a, b, or c - the focus is on the word "new." It's directing your attention to something that hasn't happened previously. And, without including the source of the information, people who don't actually do any fact checking, will take it at face value and respond as though the thing that happened, was a new thing.

It's not new. It's not even recent. It happened almost 3 years ago (December 2018). The entire free world has had a chance to get used to this information for the past 2+ years, and the OP is JUST NOW directing your attention to it, as if it were something new and nefarious that "means something" in the current political climate.

It's a non-thing. A nothingberder. One of those "dood, that is SO five minutes ago" former-events-that-no-one-cares-about-anymore. There's no reason to bring it up now, other than to stir a hornet's nest that hadn't previously existed.

Meaningless counter argument, of course there is nothing in the Constitution allowing drunk or drugged driving. However, there is the 4th Amendment that prohibits unreasonable searches. How about we allow the police to stop and search you because in their opinion you look like a drug dealer. Let the police stop you to check if you have a drivers license, vehicle insurance and valid registration. Allow the police to stop and frisk you because they might think that you have a weapon on your person. Stop you and run your name through the NICS system to check for wants and warrants or if you are on probation. Where do you draw the line? How much power do you want the government to have to "protect" society?

The 4th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America has no bearing or relevance with a bill passed in Canada.

You might not like the Canadian legislation, but it doesn't apply to American laws anyway.

As said already - this entire topic of the "new" legislation is a nothingberder.

Law-enforcement in the United States can stop you anytime they want to.If you’re not doing something wrong They will make something up. It’s your word against theirs if you want to fight it. Unless there is a video of the interaction between the two of you nobody’s going to believe you.

Its a law which is several years old. Other countries have the same thing so its not something unheard of. Dont like it? Stay in the US. Easy peasy

Yes the Constitution limits the federal powers but they still have powers and I'm glad for it. Just think of all the people who would have gotten their feet cut off if not for ocean deciding on lawn mowers having automatic stops when you release the handles etc etc etc

In the USA the officer has to wait for the person to cross a yellow line or the white fog line to have PC (Probable Cause) to stop a car.
Crossing the fog line would be easy here in Florida, I see folks lining up on it as they head down the road.
