25.3 mph...oddly I can just let my foot off the accelerator pedal and slow it waaaay down...weird. Can not your family car go a lot faster than you'd typically want?

Electric or gas? Do you have speedometer? 15 MPH fast to some people? :1rotfl:
You do have control over the go peddle. Do you drive you’re car with foot to floor?:)

Agree, mine may hit 22 going down hill. IMO any faster asking for trouble with rear brakes, top heavy vehicle.

Please understand and if you have two people in the car and two sets of clubs, going uphill maybe laborious if you set the governor to low.

If you set the governor too high (i.e., > 24 MPH), the wear and tear on your engine and other rotating parts will go up dramatically. It is not a linear function.

The governor has 2 settings I believe on new Yamaha’s 19.9 and 25 mph. You do know that you don’t have to push the accelerator all the way down.

0 to 60 in 6.3 seconds, unless it does a “wheelstand”. I may have to get. “Wheelie bar” installed.
Actually, maybe up to 21, however, going next to Palmer CC, on Buena Vista cart path, it will go 24 when it goes down to the bottom where the tunnel is south of the Palmer driveway.

Be aware that Golf Carts are limited to 19.5 MPH by law and Slow Speed Vehicles are limited to 24.5 by law.
Slow Speed Vehicles have to be inspected, registered and meet "car" requirements, such as insurance, seat belts, turn signals and other things.
They don't get you for speeding, they get you for having a unregistered vehicle on the road. With ticket, fines, court costs and the price to have you golf cart returned to legal speed it could cost up to $1,000.

Use caution, although the speed can be turned up the motors are not built to withstand constant speeds above 22 mph. If your cart is faster than that you are doing a lot of damage to the motor, not to mention that the speed limit for golf carts is 20 mph

I have a 2021 Yamaha and the speed is controlled by a No. 10 metric nut on top of the fuel injection throttle linkage. It's very easy to adjust. You can find a video instruction on Youtube. I keep mine at about 23 MPH, which is just fast enough to avoid being passed by most the 25+ MPH carts out there.

19.9 mph is the legal limit unless you have a "street legal" license. Suggest if you wish to drive faster than 19.9 go street legal, and stay off the cart paths.

When I'm going 20 and a cart passes me easily I can hear how hard that engine is working. So if that is the normal driving speed for that driver I wouldn't want that cart as a trade-in. Same as any cars my friends drove back in the day.

Correct. If you simply OWN a cart that can go faster than 20mph, you have an unregistered motor vehicle. You can be going 10mph when someone runs into you and calls the cops. Your insurance won't cover you, and you will end up going to court and paying around $500 to boot. With all the unregistered motor vehicles (gas golf carts) in the Villages today that pass me all the time at 25mph, the cops could pull in a fortune every day.

The governor on my Yamaha gas cart is cranked wide open, and I can hit 20 mph with a tailwind. Never had a single problem of any kind with the engine, so I don't know why mine is so slow. It does have the extra weight of a Curtis Cab.

The brakes on the Yamaha carts are designed for speeds on golf courses. We in TV use these carts in a way that they were never intended to be used. Go 24 mph and do a panic stop and see what happens. Slow the heck down people!

Of course, all you speed mongers know that by law, after 20 mph, your “golf cart” becomes an “unregistered vehicle” and subject to heavy fines. ALSO, a ”golf cart” is not designed and built to handle those speeds and becomes very dangerous to drives. Many crashes and injuries happen all the time in the villages.

Do you know it's illegal to exceed 20 mph with a golf car?. State law and big fine for speeding and operating a non-safety equipped vehicle without a license, etc. Do you have a speedometer on your cart? Golf cart brakes are not designed to safely stop the cart when exceeding the limit. Most carts do not have seat belts so injuries are extensive if you are speeding and in an accident. Besides, those who are speeding and passing seldom get where they're going without running into other traffic and having to slow down, only to be caught by slower moving carts. Seen it happen countless times. Where's the rush when we are retired?

It cannot legally be capable of exceeding 20mph . At that point it morphs from a golf cart into an unregistered vehicle which is uninsurable.

My drag car had a 275HP nitrous system on it. Goosing it on the street was quite enjoyable when I didn't want to be passed.
I would love to get a small system for my cart when I'm going 20ish and some numbnuckle passes us on the MMP. Just goose it for a second, chirp the tires and leave 'em wondering what the hell just happened as they eat my exhaust.
If it were a carbureted cart, I could machine a plate, EFI is a lot harder though...

Nope golf cart engine are governed low on there RPM band. Yes, it will create more heat and If oil not changed more frequently that can cause excessive wear and may eventually damage the engine.

Technically your speed part is NOT CORRECT. There are so many variations of this incorrect information. There is no 19.5 or 19.99 or 19.3 mph limit for golf carts. The LAW STATES (and I quote):
Golf carts are defined in section 320.01(22), Florida Statutes as: “a motor vehicle that is designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of 20 miles per hour.
So they can LEGALLY go 20MPH. They can't be CAPABLE of EXCEEDING 20mph (which probably 90% here are and do). That is the actual law. Period, end of story. That plus with every new post the "fines" increase dramatically. :D
Edit: and STREET LEGAL GOLF CARTS (aka LSV's) cannot EXCEED 25mph. They CAN go 25mph but can't be CAPABLE of EXCEEDING that. 24.5 is not correct or the law. From the same FL statures: A low speed vehicle (LSV) is a vehicle with a top speed greater than 20 MPH, but not greater than 25 MPH.
