Here are a couple of examples of people who seem to think because they have the right to do these things they do instead of being courteous to those they affect by doing so.
1) Yesterday I was getting off the golf cart bridge over the turnpike on the Meggison side of the bridge. When I entered the golf cart roundabout there was a woman walking in the middle of the path taking her time while taking pictures. This was impeding the flow of traffic on the roundabout. Some were beeping their horns and she looked back not caring.
2) There is a guy in Hawkins that walks his dog daily around a pond where houses are . Most of these houses are occupied. I happen to be in my yard one day and asked him why he felt walking there was his choice over walking around the preserve less then a 1/4 of a mile away. He said because he wants to.

No more privileged that walker’s walking 2,3, 4 abreast on MMP or in diamond lanes.
I think some are just looking for law suit. As for as dog walking he can’t cross private property to access common area. If the area has common access it would be none of my business, but that me.

What, exactly, did you expect? You did not ask a question, you did not give a warning for others, you did not ask for advice.
You came here to complain, nothing more. To further make a trivial mater Uber trivial you complained about two strange, rare, and bizarre singular events as examples of entitlement.
Besides my earlier advice I also extend this pearl of wisdom to you: always remember the onus is on you to communicate in such a way that the reader understands what you want.
What I've gotten from you is you want to complain about utterly nothing and have someone agree with you.

I try to remind myself, when I read posts like this one, that there are over 100,000 residents here now. 5% of the general population is supposed to be sociopaths. So, that means we can expect 5,000 Village residents to be sociopaths, who do what they want when they want and have no consideration or empathy for others. So, they act entitled.
That leaves 95% 95,000 residents that are "normal" (relatively anyway - all things considered) and in fact want to be good responsible neighbors. It is very hard for me to ignore that 5% - they can be very irritating.

Some people are oblivious to anything around them whether on a path, in a car or in an isle at a grocery store. As for dog walking if there are on common land and are cleaning up after the dog then irate is what it is.

I hadn't looked it up in years, so a quick google shows guesstimates between 1% and 4%.
The biggest problem with sociopaths is they are typically well liked because they learn at an early age how to manipulate people.

Some data on the posting that 5% of the population are Sociopaths. Actually there is a book written by Martha Stout, ph.d who studied Sociopaths and Psychopaths for over 25 years at Harvard and her conclusion is that 1 in 25 are Sociopaths. Her book is titled "The Sociopath Next Door" and it is great reading. The definition being that 1 in 25 ordinary Americans secretly has no conscience and can do anything at all without feeling guilty. Given this as a base line it would estimate that if the Villages has approximately 130,000 residents then it has approximately 520 Sociopaths walking among us. One way it was suggested to determine a "Sociopath/Psychopath is they mostly start with believing they are classic "Victim's". This does not mean all who think of themselves as victim's are Sociopaths or Psychopaths but it is a potential indicator. Given the cases where someone actually experiences a situation where they feel they
have been offended by anothers act and someone feels that person has no right to complain and who considers themselves the true victim for being exposed to a valid complaint? Who is the potential "Sociopath". As an aside I understand there is little difference in a Sociopath and Psychopath other than the cause definition??:ho:

People are people, and uncourteous behavior is certainly not limited to The Villages. One must be careful though not to interpret a behavior as rude when we may not entirely understand the circumstances, or when it may merely reflect values different from ours.
Most of us come from places where the folkways are quite different from those in Florida, or are quite different from the Villagers from other parts of the country (or even the world, as there are quite a few foreigners living in The Villages). Some of us are offended or even taken aback by friendly greetings from strangers. The opposite is also true if we offer a smile, a wave or a greeting and it is pointedly ignored. The are dozens, probably hundreds, of such examples. We may also do things completely unintentionally; things we do every day, that may offend or irritate others whose folkways may be different from ours. That particular road runs both ways. The Villages, more so than most other parts of America, is a melting pot.
I have to remind myself from time to time that the world doesn't revolve around me.

The guy walking his dog... set back property lines make the area around ponds no homeowner's concern relative to people chosing where to walk. At least its not an RV garage 5' away from your property line. Perhaps that is what the lady in the cart path was photographing (?) as no one had control over that being built in between two houses. If she was in the roundabout first it was her right to stop and take a picture and cart obligation to either wait or safely pass. On person's right's end where another's begins. I live on a pond and the area around the pond doesn't belong to me so I am cool with people exploring the pond and exploring nature. Most people that walk around the pond have homes around the pond. A large portion of our trails are multi modal paths namely El Camino Real. I have been yelled at, finger pointing, and head shaking when I walk on the trail even though it is a multipurpose trail (carts, walkers, joggers, bikes, etc.). I am very respectful and mindful too and walk on the grass when a cart comes by. It doesn't stop people from being angry with me. Just saying...

No matter where you live, no matter what your race, religion, or political views, there are always going to be pleasant people, crabby people, and snobby people. Before you jump to conclusions on anyone you have no idea what is going on in their private life. For example if you honk at someone and they don’t respond, what if they can’t hear you and are deaf? What if someone is not paying attention because that morning they lost someone dearly to them and their mind is preoccupied? Before you are quick to judge others, just try to enjoy life.

You slipped a decimal point I think: (I do that all the time) 130,000 / 25 = 5,200.
My brother has a Phd in that stuff and we discuss it occasionally. According to him the main difference between a sociopath and a p psychopath psychopath is the sociopath may feel some remorse (ie. know he did something wrong, but doesn't care) if his actions kill someone a psychopath feels no remorse (doesn't care if it kills someone). Other than that they are basically the same.

True, but that is NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), I think you are referring to me (or the other poster about a book) and I was referring to Sociopath. Narcissism is one aspect of sociopath. There are others, like reduced conscience. And moving further a psychopath is much like a sociopath except they have no conscience.

Very well put Toymeister.
You da man!! Oh wait not politically (WOKE) correct. You da thing...

Some people are oblivious to anything around them whether on a path, in a car or in an isle at a grocery store. As for dog walking if there are on common land and are cleaning up after the dog then irate is what it is.
This is why I have a very loud horn on my golf cart...

"Sociopath" does not exist as a valid diagnosis. The accepted term is "antisocial personality disorder".

On a cruise ship now. I agree that there may actually be a concentration of entitled sociopaths on it. (And no I am not one of them -cause my wife told me so)
Fun to read those cruise reviews. My wife and I have taken several cruises. You can have a wonderful time with great service, excellent food and friendly staff and I'll guarantee you that you can read reviews done by others who took the exact same cruise at the exact same time that you did (possibly even sat at the same table as you in main dining) that portray the same cruise as about equal to spending a week in the black hole of Calcutta.
There are always those who book an inside cabin at rock-bottom prices and expect to be treated the same as Caledon Hockley on the Titanic, who feel justified in ripping just about everything about the cruise when they aren't.

You are right, but it is a commonly used term, which does not make it wrong, just something people can correct others over.

Regarding the term "antisocial personality disorder" as being the replacement for sociopath is misleading. First, the term Sociopath is in fact a scientific terms and is defined with some clarity in dictionaries. The term antisocial personality disorder should be considered when an individual possesses at lease 3 of the following 7 characteristics: "1 failure to conform to social norms, 2: deceitfulness, manipulativeness, 3. impulsivity, failure to plan ahead 4. irritability, aggressiveness, 5. reckless disregard for the safety of self or others,6. consistent irresponsibility. 7. lack of remorse after having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from a person." [Source:The Sociopath Next Door]. I don't believe this definition also fits the profile of a "Sociopath" as defined by Dr. Martha Stout, ph.I understand both a Sociopath and Psychopath totally lack a conscience. The difference being the historic reason as to the cause of these disorders?:ho:

But those stats are what sells the book. No one would be interested if the author claimed that the incidence was maybe one in 100,000.
Same with autism, AKA the disease of the 90s. Remember those commercials that claimed that ONE IN SIX children in America had autism? Those people who live for such apocalyptic claims of course bought it hook, line and sinker. But nothing could be further from the truth, which was that maybe one in six American kids had one symptom of the dozens of symptoms of autism floating around out there, but for a firm diagnosis of autism you had to have at least three, and those symptoms had to be bad enough so that you could not function normally without outside help. Of course, that didn't appease the doomsayers, or the people in the public school system who turned autism into a cash cow in Minnesota (and I am assuming, other states as well). There may have been some changes in the criteria but I remember well the battles we fought over this.
Be wary of hyperbole.

Regarding the question as to the number of Sociopaths among us as determined by Dr.
Martha Stout in her book, "The Sociopath Next Door" On Page 9, "..About one in twenty-five
individuals are sociopathic, meaning essentially, that they do not have a conscience".
About the Author, "Martha Stout, Ph.D [is] a clinical psychologist in private practice, served
on the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School for twenty five
years. She is also the author of "The myth of Sanity" It is extremely well written and she is
able to describe many facet's of mental health in very understandable terms. When we discuss
behaviors and entitlements this may provide a possible background for this form of behavior?
