Hopefully next week they can start on the construction of the new windmill @ Brownwood.

I would prefer it to be functional than decorative.

The windmill and water tower are strictly decorative. The entrance still looks nice. Completely unneeded..

I'm looking forward to their return. They helped make the square seem like an old west settlement. Something that The Villages has over other communities is the scenery all around us - natural and man-made. Hopefully that will always be maintained.

If we put one up at our house will the old biddies report us?

If it takes as long as the covering at Sawgrass, next year’s hurricane season will delay construction.

The $200,000 - $300,000 bill is in the mail. They will accept cash, check, or numerous credit cards.

I hope instead of windmill they put up something that gives shade/shelter & seating! During the high traffic months it is more important

Brownwood was always a very closed in square. Compared to Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs, Brownwood always felt tight and congested with structures inhibiting views. Now that the windmill and water tower are gone it looks much better, but that doesn’t matter as they are planning to put the “tchotchkes” back.

They appear to be like Bigfoot. Urban legend, never caught in a live photo. Isn't that odd for as many people who claim to know they are the real deal? Let's see some real photo evidence of their existence.

Yep. Change is usually resisted.

Is everybody who wants the towers replaced prepared to pay an additional amount added to their amenity fees?

The money doesn't come out of the amenity fee.
This time it's the towers but next time it's a sinkhole closing a golf course or the sign into your neighborhood. When it is an item that is important to you will you be willing to conduct a pole on ToTV to determine whether money should be spent to repair it?

It's in storage waiting for the pricey Corten steel base/tower to arrive.

Who is paying for the replacement water tower. I thought I read some where the residents will pay for either thru taxes or amenity. If true its BS since "The Villages " own the commercial property they should be paying for it.

Before throwing naughty words out................you might want to read and educate yourself on who built, owns and is responsible for it and maint of it.

My uncle had 2 windmills on his farm but we had to take one down...........There wasn't ever enough wind to run them both.

We DON?'T NEED A WINDMILL UNLESS THE DEVELOPER PAYS FOR IT. TAKE A VOTE IN THE VILLAGE'S.

There already was a vote. Your PWAC representative voted to add the BCDD to the project wide agreement and add the windmill and water tower to the list of things the PWAC maintains. Voted on, agreement signed, here we are.

Still do not understand why they did not use pressure treated lumber to build it in the first place.
