We had the same problem in the Lantana. The best solution, we were told, was to string ethernet cable from the front bedroom modem to the living room. But, as there is little to no space above the Lantana front bedroom ceiling and the roof, our resident handyman/electrician just didn't want to do it. Our solution was to install an inexpensive Motorola modem and a separate, more powerful, router in place of the Comcast gateway (modem/router combined). We set the new Asus router atop a tall piece of furniture in the front bedroom/office.

Our Roku device has never been happy with the strength of the connection, as it varies from poor to good but, on the other hand, it hasn't failed to deliver a sufficient signal to watch whatever Roku channel we have chosen for the last four years.

You can simply buy WiFi boosters at Amazon that you plug into a wall socket in the area or areas where the signal is weak. Not expensive, and always worked well for me. Your WiFi will appear on an extension (EXT) channel with the same security password as the main unit.

Consider a mesh Wi-Fi system. I have had the eero for several years and have been very pleased with the coverage.

In Virginia I had a horrible time with WIFI. Tried moving router, adding access point, power-line adapters, etc. Bought a eero mesh 3pack and instantly had great connectivity.

We have a stretched Gardenia and found that moving the router/ modem as close as possible to the center of the house solved all the problems with signal strength.

Signal boosters work great. We use one at our families summer lake cottage and split the cost of the high speed internet service with our next door neighbor and use the boosters so we both get strong WiFi signals.

Exactly. We keep ours under the TV in the living room and it reaches everywhere, even the garage...

Modern routers should cover a typical house no matter if in the front, back, or middle. If the router is from your internet provider, they may replace it (free) as being defective. You could also try to move it to a high shelf or on top of something higher in the room where it is now. Or relocate it to the middle of the house. Perhaps the problem is the device trying to connect to the router? For reference, I can connect from across the street, or a few houses away.

EEro is best. Most modem / router combos they supply need a router extention.

I have a TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 Smart WiFi Router (Archer AX50) – 802.11ax Router, Gigabit Router, Dual Band, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, Parental Controls and get great reception everywhere including on my lanai. The router is in the middle bedroom of the lantana with 3 Roku locations. I did have an extender but found I didn’t need it. Most modern high end routers should give you great coverage.

Is your house stucco? I believe that is my problem. I tried extenders without much luck. I was surprised to see so many suggesting extenders. They must have better luck. Yes, Go Bills!

Deco mesh works great in our Lantana. Have one near modem in front guest room, 1 in master near left window, 1 in garage. Get great WiFi to all outdoor wireless cameras, all interior, and great signal in. Large birdcage/ pool area

We have a Lantana and the modem and router are in the Front BR/Office. I use a Mesh Router by Eero or you can use one by Google. They come in two packs or three packs. Just place one in the Front room connected to your modem and the other one out in the Lani or LR. You will have a strong signal all over. Well worth the money.

Extenders are not the same as a Mesh router. That is what you need.

Extenders automatically cut your internet speed by 50%. This is because the extender takes whatever bandwidth you have and uses half for receiving and half for sending. This is true for all extenders. As long as your initial speed is good, they may work, but the more of them you use, the worse the impact. In addition, the extender sets up a new network (even if it's the same name). If the network is on the same channel as your primary router (or another extender), they will interfere and cause dropped packets and performance issues.

The best solution is to use a mesh wifi system, and to ensure that they include a backhaul radio. A backhaul radio handles all transmissions going back (i.e. sending), and leaves the original bandwidth for downloading (i.e. receiving). This is the only method of having multiple wifi points without impacting performance and also ensures you don't get interference as the units are designed to get unique channels when used together.

I know that Netgear Orbi and eero have backhaul. If you start reading reviews of mesh systems, you'll find that the Orbi consistently wins for both coverage and speed, but you can't go wrong with either. Stay away from Google Nest - many performance issues.

Owned a Lantana for 17 years and suffered the same problem for at least 10-12. We used the front bedroom as a den and that’s where our “big TV” and computer were located. I’ll bet I had dozens of calls to Comcast before I finally stumbled on the inexpensive solution.

Buy a spool of Ethernet cable and hire a handyman (electrician NOT needed) to run the line from the laundry room, where I suspect the Comcast line enters your house and where they’ve placed their modem-router. Connect the Ethernet to the router, run it up inside the wall, across the attic floor and then down inside the front wall of the dining room. Tell the handyman to install a plate on the wall with the Ethernet/Cat5 female connection, right next to the 110 outlet on that wall.

That will place your connection to the Comcast signal right in the center of your Lantana. Then I installed a “mesh” wifi extension system. The Eero Plus is popular and good, but there are several others available at Best Buy. The Amazon Eero Plus system is on sale now for $209.

The advice you’ve gotten above on “extenders” versus Mesh systems is correct. What you want is a Mesh System to extend your wi-fi signal with no loss of strength.

By relocating your connection to Comcast’s wi-fi line to the center of your Lantana, and then even further extending the signal with the mesh extender, you’ll have a strong signal all the way from the front bedroom to outside on the lanai. We have a pool outside the lanai and I got a great wi-go signal even out to the pool deck.

Best thing I ever did—no more calls to Comcast complaining about a lousy WiFi signal. You can further improve signal strength by purchasing a “premium signal” (up to 500 Mbps) from Comcast.

Enjoy your Lantana.

I read many of the responses and there are good workable suggestions. Just so you know what works for us, we have a lantana (the reason I looked at this post), and we have very good WIFI throughout the house (confirmed by guests we just had in that front bedroom). We have a Comcast combination modem/router on our kitchen counter (in the corner by the stove). We added what Comcast calls a POD for $127.44 to the small hallway just outside that front bedroom (plugs into outlet). We have their 300 Mbps service. Good luck!

We have been using an Orbi system for years. Had it in NY on a 2,600 foot home with 2 floors. Had excellent coverage in all areas including the garage and back yard. Now we are in an Indigo with the same Orbi system and have great coverage in the entire home and the lanai.

CenturyLink now has a spinoff company called Quantum. They offer a mesh system which uses small pods. I have a Lantana with 4 pods. It is incredible. I average 250mpbs download and 160mpbs upload in every room and out on my lanai. Check it out if available in your area. Quantum 360.

I've wasted $$$ on fancy gaming routers until I tried a mesh system offered by Google. A mesh router is Absolutely the way to go. I'm a heavy TV streamer and also run a NAS for data. The Google mesh routers will solve your problem and are super simple to install.

In my Lantana, Airris modem is in the kitchen. Signal is good in all areas, yet a little weaker in the front bedroom but I don't need it there.

We have a Netgear Orbi WiFi 6 mesh system. We placed the router in our living room and the satellites in the garage, lanai, and master bedroom. We can pick up our wifi at the neighbors house five houses down from us. Great system and easy to use. I also use a mesh wi-if system, TP-LINK. Comes with two remote units and the main router. Am getting 95% of main router speed throughout the entire house.

Buy a EERO mesh system.

I was having bad wifi reception with my xfinity system. I replaced it with a EERO Mesh system and the reception is great all around the house. The house is 2000sf,

I have excellent Wifi throughout my Lantana including the Lanai. For this, I have a MESH router system of 3 Google WiFi pucks (although 2 might be sufficient). My Google WiFi units are 5 years old, but still working fine. Google now has newer models, and many other companies also make MESH routers like this. One nice thing is that these MESH routers automatically update with new firmware to maintain security.

So, the internet system is setup as follows. Comcast wire is connected to a TP-Link modem (which I purchased from Amazon). Wire out of modem runs to one of the Google pucks. This main puck communicates wirelessly to the 2nd and 3rd pucks that are in adjacent rooms. You don't want to put these secondary pucks at the far end of the house because they need to receive a STRONG signal from the main puck.

My modem and primary MESH puck is located over my refrigerator. I have secondary pucks in the side bedroom and the master bath. If you modem is in the front bedroom, I suggest you put the primary puck there, and try placing secondary pucks in the side bedroom and the master bedroom. I think that will provide good coverage to living room and lanai. If not, try moving the 3rd puck from the master bedroom to the kitchen area.

Alternatively, you should be able to easily move your modem to another room. You should be able to connect it to any cable outlet that does not have a TV connected, and then in the garage connect the coax cable for that outlet to the main Comcast line.

Don't get a finicky WiFi extender! Get a MESH system.

We had issues too but we found out it was caused from all the steel beam that was used in walls. AM radio was the worst!

Multiple units work together as one from opposite ends of your house. There are multiple choices of a router, but 1st make sure your internet service speed is very good.

We had the same issue as you for our Lantana. I went to Best Buy and purchased a Wi/Fi extender. Returned home and plugged it into the outlet between the large and small sliders on the back wall leading out to the Lanai. Programmed the near devices to look for the extender rather than the modem in the front room and this fixed our issue. Even gave us blasting levels outside on the lanai too. Problem solved....

Router issue in Lantana. I bought Google's mesh router system, put the main node in the middle bedroom (our office) put the second node in the living room adjacent to the kitchen wall and the third node in the master bedroom. We also have Centurylink G/B optical internet service. in years we have never had a problem with either
