get a petsitter, your feline will be much happier. you can't really be sure your boarded cat won't be housed above a noisy dog, or in a cattery with toms who have a territory issue. get the sitter to come by once a day to feed, scoop & sweep, & have some bonding time if your kitty is so inclined. it's cheaper & you will have peace of mind knowing kitty is safe @ home.

I agree with this someone to feed, fresh water and litterbox. The cat will be more comfortable at home alone than in an unfamiliar area as cats are territorial.

A shelter/boarding home is going to stress them out. They’re not so much like dogs.

This is what we have done for our cat. The sitter came two times a day. We have automatic litter box that lasts 2 weeks without scooping or changing. The sitter even sits and talks with her, we know the sitter does great because the cat runs to her when she comes

They do both house sitting and pet sitting. We went on a cruse for 4 weeks. A couple we picked, moved into the house and took care of the dog and cat. They took great care of the pets and sent pictures to us. The house was spotless when we returned.

The people who do this are vetted, have background checks and list references. Best of all it's free. You join the for a few $$ and your post the dates you need a sitter. The web sites sends you the names and information on the people interested in sitting for your pets. If you don't like any of the first group, you can request more names. Look at their pictures, review the past sits, review the references and make your pick.

We had people from Mexico City, Sydney Australia, Canada, Arizona, Ocala, Miami and several more I can't remember. It may not be for you, but take a look at the web page.

I have a pet sitting company. We are insured and bonded. We can come to your house once a day and take care of your kitty. If you live in The Villages, north of Hwy 44, give me a call and I can set you up with one of the sitters in my group.

Have you considered having a pet sitter come in twice a day to feed your cat and clean the litter? I have done that for neighbors and they preferred to putting their fluffy friend in a kennel

There are plenty of pet sitters who will go to your house. Better for the animal. Rover.com is a good place to start.

Boarding a cat can lead to medical problems..... I agree with the others, get a cat sitter. Your cat will be much happier home in its own environment.

Here's a place in Fruitland Park. Kitty Camp Cat Resort - Cat Boarding in Fruitland Park, FL serving the Villages (https://www.kittycampcatresort.com/)
I don't know about you but I personally don't want strangers in my house when I'm not there, vetted or not, so Kitty Camp is another option.

Seeing the title of this thread I thought it was about waterboarding cats.

This is the best suggestion. It's much easier on your cat. Get referrals when you interview a sitter. Dog sitters may be the folks that can help you out if you don't find anything under pet sitting. I would suggest a camera too, just for peace of mind.

Cats dislike changes to their routine or surroundings. No need to stress them

Check with your local vet. Some places won’t board your cat unless they are clients. Brick City Cat Hospital has that policy and they are excellent.

We have two pairs of foster cats and are gone two weeks at a time. We use pet sitters who stop by one or more times a day to check food and water, clean litter, play a little and take pictures to let us see the little stinkers. We pay about $60 a day for 2 visits a day. She lets them access the lanai thru a pet door in am and closes it late in the day. They really like her now. They hid under the bed in the beginning.

Try Lisa Toneff at 352-652-9406. She is bonded and insured. Happy Home Pet Care is her business.

Michael, I have a discount code for Trusted housesitters if you are considering them. I've been with them as a sitter since 2016 and then after moving here to TV needed to join as a Homeowner becuase I often need a sitter for my cat Tilly. Its the only way to go. Sitters and Homeowners are vetted. I can give you tips in how to select the sitters. It is hard to get sitters here in the middle of the summer though. Linda

Does any of those sitters teach cat dancing?

Pet sitting is a profession now. My granddaughter is a certified pet sitter. They are very professional, keep you informed, and are careful to attend to the cats.
We advise them that our security cameras are on. We know when they enter and leave and get waves now and then. We were concerned too, but learned to use references and try it. Btw, the sitter gets better pics of our pets than we do. : ) Some will house sit and pet sit for you. You will soon appreciate that your house looks occupied.
