Just moved into our house in the Villages and it came furnished. There is a 2 year old piano that came with the house we do not want. Offering it for free to any church that may need one. Even willing to pay for the delivery. Just looking for a tax write off. It is a Hallet, Davis, & Co. Grand Piano. Again only 2 years old. Let me know if interested.

Check with the local school districts also, they may be interested.

You might try putting it on a free marketplace site, too.

BTW, I'm not familiar with the brand, but that is a gorgeous piano (says she who had an ungorgeous baby grand growing up...). Have you had it appraised?

OP you need to get that appraised. If it's a grand, and not a baby grand, it could be worth anywhere between $10,000-30,000. Your tax write-off might not be nearly as good as the sales value.

A 2-year-old baby grand from Hallet, Davis, & Co would probably sell between $1000-5000. That would probably be a useful write-off.

Funny, how when your kids were very young and you wanted a piano so they could practice piano lessons, a deal like that was never available.

You might check with the Recreation department, and see if they might want it in the foyer of the Savannah Center or any of their other larger rec centers.

I know a retired piano teacher who would love to put that if you don't sell it!

A 2-year-old baby grand from Hallet, Davis, & Co would probably sell between $1000-5000. That would probably be a useful write-off.

GrokAI says:

The value of a 2-year-old Hallet, Davis & Co. baby grand piano depends on several factors, including the specific model, condition, finish, market demand, and location. Based on available information, here’s a concise overview:

Hallet, Davis & Co. baby grand pianos, such as the HS148 (4'10") or HS160 (5'3"), are known for their quality craftsmanship, German engineering, and solid spruce soundboards, offering a warm, rich tone at a relatively affordable price compared to premium brands. New, these pianos typically range from $8,999 to $12,000, depending on the model and features like finish or player systems.

For a 2-year-old piano, depreciation is generally minimal if the instrument is well-maintained, as pianos can last decades with proper care. A pre-owned Hallet, Davis baby grand in excellent condition might retain 80-90% of its original value, assuming no significant wear or damage. For example:

A 2-year-old HS148, originally priced around $8,999, could be valued at approximately $7,200–$8,100.

A 2-year-old HS160, originally around $9,999, might be valued at $8,000–$9,000.

These estimates align with listings for pre-owned Hallet, Davis baby grands, such as one at $4,899 (though likely smaller or older) or others in the $10,000 range with added features like PianoDisc systems. Market conditions and regional differences can affect pricing—pianos in urban areas or high-demand markets may hold higher value.

To get a precise valuation, have the piano appraised by a professional technician who can assess its condition, model, and serial number. You can also check current listings on sites like PianoMart or eBay for comparable sales. If you provide the specific model or additional details, I can refine the estimate further.
