For many years, we've had USAA insurance for most everything. They've also been a great company to deal with.

We just got a new golf car and got a quote of $60... per month! Explained to them it's not a low speed vehicle, not registered, no VIN and we didn't even include collision in our request.

Does anyone have experience with USAA and getting your golf cars insured? Am I just not asking them the right questions?

Otherwise, we'll have to go elsewhere. If that's the case can someone recommend and give me their costs for a company that this is the only policy with them? Can't take advantage of any bundling unfortunately.

The key is whether it goes over 20 mph or not, at least that's how it was for us. We use Progressive and it is $75 per year.

We have USAA coverage on our golf cart and the premium is $31.97 every 6 months. We do have comprehensive and collision coverage declined. Something doesn’t seem right with your quote.

Through our Ins Broker, all she came up with is Progressive. It costs us $189. for 2 carts and that is the total annual amount.
We used to have Foremost but Progressive was a better deal.

I have USAA cars and home insurance back north, but down here USAA is horribly overpriced. Already used a different company for homeowners insurance down here. Then last month when we bought a new golf cart, we went with AAA for $14 a month full coverage. He then asked to review USAA car insurance policy which was coming up for renewal two weeks later. He cut under USAA car insurance down here by $800 for 6 month policy and was still able to match all the same criteria in my USAA policy.

We are headed back north in a month for some family visits and plan on making some changes for the future and without the use of USAA on our home and cars/equipment still on the farm. I have been with them for 35 years.

I am with USAA & worked for them for a few years, they are & always have been rated as one of the Top Insurance Co. in the USA.
That doesn't mean they are the cheapest, what a client get's with USAA is " Trust " & above all top rated " Service ". I know 1st hand.
I am sure you are well aware that USAA is very " Picky " on who quaifies for them to consider getting USAA Insurance.:plane:

I canceled my USAA golf cart insurance when I discovered we were paying over $1000/yrs for 2 carts. I asked them what the deal was and they said they it was in line with the coverage on our cars. Never said a word to me about increasing grin the initial very cheap rate. I switched to Progressive.

My hope for you is that you never have a claim, unlike USAA ya get what U Pay For.

I see the positive comments about USAA. I've been with them 45 years, filed 2 claims. One I was hit by a USAA insured driver while stopped at light (she tried lane splitting and hit 5 cars, was ticketed multiple infractions). The 2nd was a flooded condo caused when an upstairs neighbor broke a pipe. In BOTH CASES, USAA WAS HORRIBLE!. In the car case, they even tried fraud claiming i had to pay deductible "because other insurer would nor pay". I said I was suing, and demanded documentation of other insuer not paying. Story changed.......

I am still with them because of an Umbrella policy, but that may change soon. Way too expensive and dishonest now.

Something went wrong. I have USAA, and have full coverage cart insurance thru Progressive via USAA.
I pay $80 per year plus an extra $10 for towing.

You say “USAA is very picky about who qualifies for their insurance”. By “picky” do you mean who is dumb enough to pay those outrageous prices?

We, too, have had USAA for years. They treat golf carts as cars. We tried to talk to them. Go get Progressive...$132 year for liability.

Yes, the USAA auto insurance you have also should cover your golf cart. Ask them this question! I've been with USAA for over 60 years.....they have always been one of top, if not the top, insurance provider in the nation.

We've been longtime USAA Members and insurance customers. However, we too found their (USAA's) Golf Car Insurance to be WAY too expensive.

We were able to find a GREAT policy through Progressive. (My wife is a retired Insurance Broker with over 30 year experience).

Give them a call. They have an app that's easy to use and you may get a policy for around $100, or so, per YEAR.

The policy is classed under their Motorcycle area (don't ask me why, but it works!).

Good luck & Happy Hunting!

Try the local All State office for about $100 for a year. I think it is McDonald All State.

Just to be clear, we've had USAA insurance for decades and have rarely had an an issue. The few times we've had a claim were were handled quickly and without a fight. Also, no increase in our rates as a result either.

I also occasionally compare their rates to others and they are always competitive. Before we moved to the villages was reading horror stories about how crazy expensive homeowner's insurance was but tested some properties before we moved. They didn't seem particularly high to me.

In this case, however, there's some kind of quirk in the way they treat golf carts so will likely look at an alternative but only for this. Can't imagine a case where we would switch providers for anything more.

I use State Farm for cart and USSA for home owners insurance and Liberty for car.
